Start Reading Invisible Jews: Surviving The Holocaust In Poland Conceptualized By Eddie Bielawski Accessible From Bound Copy
Bielawski is probably one of the youngest Holocaust survivors with any memory of the war years, " It's simply staggering how his family survived against all odds, Eddie's father Yitzhak Bielawski was incredible using his wits and ingenuity to keep his whole family safe, Always nice to read the story of people who were able to evade the Nazis and find freedom after the war, The author was just an infant when war broke out in Poland so most of his recount seems to be from the stories he grew up hearing amp knowing from his family.
His father and adult family members were very smart as they recognized the serious consequences as they prepared for the war and the round ups that would ultimately come to their town.
I enjoyed reading about their settlement after the war, I really enjoyed this book, even though it was short it shares such a powerful story, Eddie is one of the youngest holocaust survivors I've read about that has some memory of the events, What an incredible story he has, Eddie and his family spent the years during the war surviving in hiding, Every time I read a recount I learn more and I share what happened, which needs to be shown more, Invisible Jews
This book was so good! The author was right to the point which made his wartime experiences come across even more shocking.
Written from a child's perspective was vivid and really hit home for me, I am amazed at what his family endured in order to survive, God bless them and thank you Mr, Bielawski for telling your story, I certainly will never forget, A very good memoir of surviving the holocaust
This is a really wellwritten and readable memoir, It is detailed enough to leave readers with some understanding of what this man went through as a child during the holocaust, It is amazing to me how resilient and courageous this family was, What a interesting and thought provoking short read, A story of survival against all the odds, This was such an insightful read and made me realise how good I have it and while the world is going through a Pandemic nothing compares to what it took for this family to survive through years of war
For three years Eddie Bielawski and his family watched while the Nazis took over their town and knew their fate was sealed, Eddies father had a dream to build a bunker and save his family, and he made his dream a reality.
Over the course ofyears fromwhen the Nazis started the deportations and mass killings Eddie and his family hid in secret bunkers in the fields, under sheds and barn lofts and through all the odds survived the war but this story is heartbreaking.
What an amazing account of courage, determination, wit and intelligence, I was in awe of Eddies father and mothers remarkable strength of character and resourcefulness to protect and feed their family over years of hiding out from the Nazis.
While this is a short book, it certainly packs a punch and makes the reader wonder how they would have coped in a similar situation.
The prose is simple but so effective,
I listened to this one on audible and the narrator Norman Gillian was excellent and really draws you into the story,
I am so grateful to Eddie Bielawski and his family for sharing their story and I highly recommend this book for readers interested in survival stories.
Invisible Jews: Surviving the Holocaust in Poland is by Eddie Bielawski, Eddie was born inand is probably the youngest survivor who remembers anything about this time, He did have help with the first years from his parents stories and his sisters remembrances, However, much of it he remembers on his own, This makes his memoir more remarkable, He writes from the perspective of a young child and his writing is clear and precise, He is able to pull the reader into his work in such a way that the reader has great empathy for the characters,
Eddie and his family survived the Holocaust by living in a series of dugouts and other hiding places that his Father and uncles built, His family consisted of his parents, his sister, four uncles, one aunt, and a grandmother, They all survived. Keeping a family of four alive by hiding was difficult and a family of ten almost impossible, Yet with luck, a few decent Poles who were willing to help, and all the money they could come up with, the family survived,
The story is told with such matteroffactness that never doubt wonderful things will happen for the family and they do, From the hell of the Holocaust in Poland to the hardships of the US after the war to wartorn Israel, we follow the footsteps of Eddie and his family.
It is an amazing adventure, A true tale of tragedy, bravery amp overcoming horrible adversity!
Eddie's tale skillfully written in a plain"spoken" yet exciting manner, is a story lived a thousand different ways by the Jews of WWII Europe! What his parents amp other relatives overcame was nothing short of a miracle as he often points out in these pages.
He doesn't wallow in maudlin selfpity nor try to bundle it in a flowery philosophy, He writes a straightforward tale of a father amp mother simply repeating day after day an unbelievably hard struggle to keep themselves amp their children alive.
His parents wanted their family not just to bear testament to a murderous Holocaust but to stay alive in order to enjoy a Godgiven life to which every human has a right.
A quick read, this first person account of the Holocaust is an important piece of history, but it lacks the details and depth to make it a really interesting book.
It reads as if you are sitting in a kitchen and Eddie is telling you his story as he remembers it, but at times the family members get confusing and it lacks emotional connection to the events he is describing.
A quick, interesting read. Stories like this must be told with the ever growing discussions and books that claim the holocaust never happened,
Stares Survival
I have read several books on the survival of all these innocent people each one as this one is so terribly horrifically sad and unbelievable! But sadly it is all the truth! Very good writing! We have to keep this horrific crime alive in everyone mind so it never never happens again!!!!! WE CAN'T EVER FORGET OR FORGIVE WHAT HAPPENED TO INNOCENT PEOPLE! The story of a jewish family hiding from the Nazis in Poland.

My full recommendation!!!
Dean An unusual story of triumph over evil
A beautifully told story of not only survival but triumph in the times of the Holocaust.
There are several stories of tragic lives lost, . . but this one is an amazing one of miraculous grit and determination to overcome the worst and come out really strong, The resilience it took for this family and many other jewish people to overcome such horrific odds against them during the holocaust is well accounted in Mr.
Bielawski's novella. It is amazing and heartbreaking the things they went through and he tells it all so well, This story is highly recommended, We must never forget. Quite an exciting book! This true life story of surviving the holocaust is inspiration of surviving many issues we all face during contemporary times as well.
I was born in the town of Wegrow in northeastern Poland in mid, Not a propitious time and place for a Jewish child to be born,
One memory that has been etched indelibly in my mind is the sight of the Nazi army marching toward Russia, Our house was located on the main road leading to the Russian frontier, Day and night they marched soldiers, trucks, tanks, and more soldiers, in a never ending line an invincible force, I remember my father, holding me in his arms, saying to my mother, "Who is going to stop them Certainly not the Russians, "
One night, my father had a dream, In this dream he saw what he had to do: where to build the bunker, how to build it, and even its dimensions,
He would build a bunker under a wooden storage shed behind the house, It would be covered with boards, on top of which would be placed soil and bits of straw which would render it invisible, In order to camouflage the entrance, he would construct a shallow box and fill it with earth and cover it with straw so that it would be indistinguishable from the rest of the earthen floor.
Air would be supplied through a drain pipe buried in the earth, This was to be our Noah's Ark that would save us from the initial deluge,
It took my father about three weeks to finish the job, When he was done, he took my mother and sister into the shed and asked them if they could find the trap door, When they could not, he was satisfied,
My mother prepared dry biscuits, jars of jam made out of beets, some tinned goods such as sardines, some sugar and salt, We placed two buckets in the bunker, One bucket was filled with water, the other bucket was empty and would serve as the latrine, We also took down some blankets, a couple of pillows and some warm clothing, We were ready.
For three long years, starting inwhen the Nazis started the deportations and mass killings, we
hid in secret bunkers, dug in fields, under sheds, or constructed in barn lofts.
It seems that the only way that a Jew could survive in wartime Poland was to become invisible, So we became invisible Jews, .
