Find The Red Dot Club: Victims Voices Imagined By Robert Rangel Offered In Volume
very helpful book to read if you are a police officer, I was given a copy of The Red Dot Club by the author, Robert Rangel to read before he was a guest on Deadly Reads RadioJourney into the Night on Blog Talk Radio.
I normally don't read nonfiction, but I have to say I'm so glad I read this one,
For those of you who don't know, I'm the mother of a Police Officer, Our daughter has served her community foryears now, and has already had some pretty intense things happen to her while she was on duty, So, when I was asked to read this book I wasn't sure how I would take it, You see, it's because The Red Dot Club is a very elite club of Law Enforcement officers, The reason it's so elite is because one has to have been shot in the line of duty and survived,
I have to say Robert was able to tell each story in the book with passion and the ability to give the reader a clear understanding of what each officer felt and thought as they faced death at the hands of those hellbent on killing them.
What makes the book so full of passion and emotion is that Robert, himself is a member of The Read Dot Club having been shot while an LA Detective for several years.
As I read each story in the book, my heart broke for what they each went through, And I found myself feeling such pride at the courage and sacrifice each of them faced each day they put on their badge and went to work.
I highly recommend this book and firmly believe it needs to be shared to educate those who never stop and think of what one faces when they
face those who would do us harm.

You will not be sorry for reading this book, I gave itStars, but would have given it more if allowed, This is a truecrime drama written by former LA sheriff and detective Robert Rangel, Each chapter is a different account of officers who were involved in realworld gunfights and were wounded in the line of duty as a result, The first such account is the author's own experience, The rest are LAarea officers Rangel interviewed, Harrowing and interesting, the book gives you a new appreciation of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers, POWERFUL amp COMPELLING!!!
After hearing people recommend this book, I read it, Some spoke of reading in a single sitting, flipping from page to page, unable to set it down, That was NOT me. I read each story amp felt compelled to reflect amp absorb the story amp powerful expression by each individual officer/deputy, telling of their fight for life.
After a few months, I reread the book from end to end on my iPad, It was ok. I wasnt blown away by it, It does give you a pretty good appreciation for what police go through, This is a true accounting of officerinvolved shootings during which the officer/deputy was shot, The author tells his personal story of such an incident, and then tells the stories of others, It is a real page turner, and here you will read about the true heroes and have firsthand accounting of what it is like to survive deadly encounters.
Not for the faint of heart, The Red Dot Club Victims Voices details firsthand accounts of heroism performed by peace officers, Recounting numerous incidents where criminals try to kill them, these officers detail their accounts of fighting for their lives in millisecondbymillisecond time, Sprinkled throughout the book are other incidents officers have experienced that are so horrific that the officers themselves become victims, Additionally, the devastation that illegal drugs and gang violence wreak upon society is clearly depicted, and is a cry for our society to denounce them, and espouse integrity and values.
