Sacred sexual rituals bring Taras soul to the ancient Temple of Astarte
Tara is a young American who travels to Jerusalem, where she meets Yoni, a handsome Israeli who is a sexual shaman.
Yoni and his wife Hagar take Tara on journeys of deep self revelation, using ancient rituals and sacred sexuality, that link her soul to the ancient Temple of Astarte, which stood in Jerusalem before the monotheistic revolution of theth century BC.
A priest of Yahweh is pitted against the ancient temple priestesses
In a parallel story, a sexually frustrated priest of Yahweh vows to destroy Astartes temple and her sexual rites.
An ancient sacred scroll surfaces containing orders to wipe out any form of worship other than that of Yahweh,
Ancient and modern religions merge at the nexus of spiritual sexual secrets
Who wrote this early tome that so deeply influenced the history of religion and of the world How did the Love Goddess priestesses respond to attempts to destroy their path With magical vibrations, the author weaves together ancient history and modern fiction and sweeps the reader into secret chambers where sexuality and sacredness meet in awe.
This book will change the way you see the history of the world, religion, culture, and sexuality, This is not just another excellent novel, This is a seed spread into earth which will regrow the tree of freedom and evolution whose fruit was forbidden by the unconsciousness, This is a manifestation revealing the hidden truths that the unconscious humankind has been trying to hide, suppress and forget with all its power.
This is a portent of the ancient free world being reestablished, This is the courageous stance of the truth against false, despite its fake power and splendor,
The prison that the humankind jailed itself in and the reasonless storms in its heart could not be described better, This book is showing why humanitys wings are always broken whatever it is doing and why human is not able to find peace despite trying everything hard.
When the world becomes a free place again, when the humankind makes peace with its own nature again, Kedesha will forever be remembered as a pioneering piece of this enlightenment.
A wellcrafted historical fiction about the art of spiritual lovemaking, . .
It's extremely interesting that the more a person rejects morality, the more they feel compelled to see everything in a moral context or make everything into a moral issue.
But the paradox is that while they see someone's different opinion on spirituality and sexuality as hateful and ignorant, they never see their own disagreement as hateful and ignorant.
Denial of their own abhorrence is built into their rationale, while proudly wearing it on their sleeve for all to see,
Unfortunately, this may well be the case for this amazing book regarding the Orthodox world in Jerusalem, Kabbalists and Hasidic Judaism, Furthermore, Christian and Islamic fundamentalists including the moderates may well develop an uncontrolled twitching whilst reading this beautiful piece of work by Ohad Pele Ezrahi.
If only the indoctrinated mind could be released from its prison cell long enough to appreciate this novel, One can only hope.
In the foreword, Bruce Lyon explains: “Kedesha is an evocative journey of soul archeology, It digs back down through the layers of monotheistic religious thought and culture that have dominated the last few thousand years and opens us again to the ways of the Goddess.
It digs down through the arid lands of the Middle East, through the layers of the churches, mosques, and synagogues of Jerusalem to the living waters of the ancient wells.
Here we can drink our divinity directly through the body, our sexuality, our joy and pleasure in being alive and incarnate, Here we remember that the body is not just a temple for the spirit, but it is an expression of spirit itself as divine as our highest subtle aspirations and more solid and steadfast in its love than our greatest beliefs.
Here we remember that land cannot be given to a people by God or possessed by the human need for control and security, Land is not just sacred because prophets have walked on it or prayers have been said there, It is inherently sacred. And it is precisely the awareness of this sacredness that much of our modern civilization has lost connection, ”
Captivating and commendable, this book had me immersed from the beginning, The story flowed from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling, There are plenty of intriguing and insightful moments in this page turner that will take the reader on a truly fascinating and enlightening journey.
Tara is a young American who travels to Jerusalem where she meets Yoni, a sexual shaman, There, Tara goes on a journey of deep selfrevelation, This is an intriguing read with parallel stories involved as well, The stories show the world at a cross roads and how we could have easily taken a different path so long ago, I found the story to be entertaining and gave me a lot of food for thought, I really liked it! There were parts of this book that I didn't really understand, This is my first experience reading about the Haredic Jews, I found their religious views very narrowminded to the point of them feeling very inadequate for having natural human feelings, They were forever doing penance and being made to feel guilty for being human, The book has a lot of erotica which might not appeal to some readers, It is done in good taste to bring out the love of the goddess worship practiced in the era before the current time, The goddess taught love, kindness, and forgiveness where the Worship of Yahweh was a masculine God, Harsh and punishing to the people, The high priests who should have been teaching the people how to love God were murdering and inciting people to riot and cause wars which then led to the Jewish people being taken over by the Egyptians and then the Babylonians.
Some of the problems that the Jews still face today go back to these historic times, I liked the book. I think it made a good point as far as what we believe as religions descended from Judaism, I felt there were a couple of points which weren't tied up but maybe that was for a reason, This book took me much longer to read as I was also reading a couple of others at the same time, I needed to digest what I had read and some contemplation before I finished it, Kedesha is erotic and sometimes links erotica to spirituality, The ancient temples have sex slaves who are elevated to the level of goddesses, She blessed her for becoming a temple, for having become a kedesha, a scared prostitute, Their bodies became a temple, This is somewhat similar to Indian Devdasi system,
The story alternates between ancient times and modern one, Story starts with Yehoash having sex with his wife Eglah, She a priests daughter and married him just to get an heir, She despise having sex with him and he is sexually frustrated, In modern times we have an American returned lady Tara who needs to face her demons, She meets Yoni a Shamanic sexual healer, He is married in Shamanic way to Hagar and has a very open marriage, She gives her Yoni vagina massage and then she becomes liberated,
The book alternate chapters are ancient and modern times, It has historical information and the writer claims that if it is true that is not a coincidence, Shamanic sexual healing of yoni massage is based on the fact that many memories accumulate in the inner folds of the yoni,
The book is racy and erotic, It has many threesome, homosexual scenes, But after sometimes it becomes rather boring and repetitive, A tighter editing could have helped,./stars.
How God became a "Him" and the rediscovery of the Feminine Divine
I have no idea how to categorize Kadesha.
It is two separate stories, one historical Biblical fiction, and one contemporary fiction, Sex is a cornerstone of the plot in both stories, but I detect no intent to titillate in spite of some very deliciously detailed descriptions of sexual behavior.
Readers you've been informed: make your own choices And then, near the end, the stories converge, The reason for their mysterious juxtaposition is the heart of the book itself, Kadesha isn't about sex, per se, It is a superbly conjectured parable about the intersection of ancient Hebrew sexual mores and religion, and the development of what some might call a malignant monotheism which ruthlessly suppressed all reference to the Feminine Devine, devalued roughly half the world's population, and continues to perpetuate the world's denigration of feminine characteristics and attributes.
The author's point is going to be championed by many secular women and men who espouse feminist ideology, It is just as certain to provoke outrage, scorn and censure in those who profess adherence to ultratraditional monotheistic doctrine, For those whose minds admit a certain degree of openness or curiosity, and for those who consider themselves spiritual seekers, here is a window on spiritual and cultural history, a lesson in how learning and indoctrination tend to become confused over time, and a potential alternative spiritual POV.
But let me be clear about what Kadesha is NOT, It is NOT history, it is NOT merely entertainment, it is NOT erotica and it isn't really about sex at all, I personally found some profound insights and some alternative explanations for why the religious beliefs of my childhood were unable to survive intact in my adult life, and I ultimately found my personal faith in the divine confirmed and strengthened.
That is purely my own personal reaction no doubt others will perceive and react differently, Which is the author's point, I think, This is an exploration of ideas, a foray into an alternative worldview, and an opportunity to meet the Divine in places we no longer think to see it.
I thank author Ohad Pele Ezrahi for the courage it took to put this book out there I thank Candid Book s for offering me an ARC, and as always, this review is mine alone voluntary, independent and uncompensated.
