Nel racconto l'autore compie un lavoro di scavo psicologico incredibile e avvincente, L'esito di questo lavoro di scavo ti fa comprendere che non sempre i perdenti nella vita sono delle persone incapaci di affrontare le situazioni, ma spesso sono semplicemente persone che hanno scelto di essere nel giusto.

C'è poi il gradevole colpo di scena finale, che forse stona ma che tutti desiderano,

Practically a lengthy monologue recounting the gradual steps to a murder, Article spend pages detailing the protagonist's emotional journey, with extremely fresh metaphors and lyrical writing, conveying the feeling of jealousy, naive trust, betrayal, hatred and helplessness.


While I didn't quite get the 'noir' atmosphere promised in its marketing blurb perhaps it's referring to the interrogation setting, Article is nevertheless a stunning portrayal of an ordinary man's fight for justice.

This short novel by Tanguy Viel is one of those where you have to savour every word, for here there is subtlety and precision.
Two men sit in a courtroom, a judge and Martial Kermeur, and Kermeur starts to tell his story, the story of his town and of his family, and how he came to be there.
As the book progresses, we learn more about the case: a man has drowned, pushed off a boat by Kermeur himself, a fact

he does not deny.
The victim is Antoine Lazenec, a property developer who had come to a small town with grand plans, the repercussions of which rock the whole town and Kermeur's family as well.


In part the book reminded me of something by Beckett, or of Camus LEtranger, with its pared back style and matteroffact firstperson narrative voice.
It is also part crime novel, and part psychological study of a man trapped in a situation from which he cannot escape.
It might not be everyones cup of tea there are no action sequences or very much that happens at all, It is all reported. For me, the strength of the book lies entirely there: it is understated, you have to listen to the words and imagine the situation as it plays out, feel the interaction between Kermeur and the judge.
The book makes you face questions of justice, of right and wrong, of taking responsibility for ones actions, It is a subtle, deceptively simple book, but one which deserves to be read,

On connaît le coupable immédiatement, idem pour la victime, Oui, mais ce serait aller un peu vite en besogne et surtout ce serait réducteur pour ce roman qui n'est d'ailleurs pas un polar.


Le narrateur sera le "meurtrier" avec quelques interventions du juge qui l'entend juste après son interpellation qui fut rapide car Kermeur Martial n'a pas cherché à se cacher, ni même de se soustraire de quelques façons à la justice.
Son ton, sa voix auraisje envie de dire peut surprendre un peu au début et puis, très vite, on plonge dans sa narration qui remonte loin dans le temps quelques années avant le drame, le dernier pour que tout soit bien clair.

Martial Kermeur, c'est un homme simple, avec juste ce qu'il faut comme instruction, C'est aussi un père touché dans sa chair, C'est un français moyen, banal pourraiton dire,

Le juge est la représentation de la justice, un univers complexe, assez éloigné de tout ce que connaît Kermeur qui a pourtant déjà eu affaire à elle indirectement.
Il est sage, attentif comme on voudrait que cela soit, D'ailleurs, on se met volontiers dans sa peu à ce juge car comme lui, on écoute le récit de Kermeur, On l'aide à trouver les mots justes, on veut comprendre ce qui s'est passé, sa vie, son drame le plus important, . .

La "victime", on a de moins en moins de compassion pour elle déjà que, . . Certes, c'était un homme, mais quel homme !
Et puis, il y a les autres personnages qui apparaissent, qui donnent du corps à cette histoire presque trop banale.


Ce livre se découvre, se dévore, vous laissera des traces car même si tous ces faits fictifs remontent à la fin des années, c'est tellement criant de véracité que l'on ne peut pas rester de marbre.

Étrangement je ne pensais pas aimer ce livre, Ça fait un mois que je repousse cette lecture, alors que je navais de toute manière pas le choix étant donné que cest pour lécole.
Et bien quelle surprise ! Ce nest absolument pas ce que jai lhabitude de lire, ça me sort totalement de ma zone de confort mais jai beaucoup aimé.
Je trouve lécriture du livre incroyable, Les descriptions sont très riches, remplies de métaphores, avec parfois même des rimes, Par moment javais limpression de lire un poème, Il ny a pas énormément dactions, cest lhistoire dune vie racontée à un autre personnage, mais cest touchant, intéressant.
On cherche à savoir pourquoi le personnage principal a commis un meurtre, ce quil ne nie pas dès la première page, mais ce nest pas gore, on en oublierait presque que cest lélément principal du livre.
On se rend compte que rien nest ni tout noir ni tout blanc, et que de nombreux antécédents étaient déjà présents.
