on West End Murders

a series of murders threatens the lives of an entire community in Vancouver, RCMP Corporal Paul Blakemore and Inspector Coswell team up once again to solve the case.
What begins as an array of hate crimes suddenly culminates into a conspiracy against an American politician, and the lines between Canada and the United States are blurred as suspicions rise from both sides.
To solve this case, both detectives must look beyond the powers of one culprit and instead focus on the ventures of an entire underground organization, all while protecting members of their own city.
An intense thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end, West End Murders is a great bedside read that threatens to keep you up well into the night.
Set in Vancouver, this is the second in a series with RCMP officer Coswell, written by the Canadian author Roy Inner, What starts out as an apparently random killing of gays turns into a plot involving a farright antigay activist group and a few prominent American politicians.
Overall an interesting read in its characterization and detail, As a string of gay murders occur in Vancouver's West End, Inspector Coswell is reunited with Paul Blakemore, Zachary Benson, and Heather McTavish from his Monashee case.
When the gay mayor from San Francisco is invited to town for a conference the case develops international complications and Coswell must deal with convoluted relationships, radical militiamen groups, and the intricacies of manipulating superiors, press, and international police forces to find the perpetrators.
Beautiful package. Innes is a new author for me, but this is not the first book in the series featuring RCMP Inspector Coswell and Corporal Blakemore, The setting is Vancouver and their have been a series of murders in the west end targeting high profile gay men, The Vancouver police have been getting anywhere with the case and the RCMP is asked to step in, Coswell works with a Vancouver police force officer named Burns who liases with Vancouver for any assistance, Blakemore is new to town and Coswell assigns him to go undercover on the case,
A visit is expected soon from the mayor of San Francisco, another high profile gay man and there is pressure to solve the case

from the Vancouver mayor and from Ward, Coswell's boss.

Coswell is an interesting character, with a big ego and a gourmet appetite, There is some discussion of good Vancouver restaurants, food and wine around this aspect of Coswell's personality, There is also an interesting relationship between the police and a female newspaper reporter who is hot on the story,
I enjoyed the mystery, and liked the way it was brought together at the end, An entertaining read, with an interesting plot, Roy Innes is a retired eye physician and surgeon, An early penchant for the arts, buried for years in the world of science, was rekindled on retirement, He enrolled in the Humber School for Writers program and under the mentorship of literary notable, Olive Senior, wrote his first novel, Murder in the Monashees, released into excellent reviews.
Equally at home in the city or the wilds, Innes is an avid hunter, a lover of classical music and, belied by his skinny frame, a gourmand.
He lives on Gabriola Island, B, C. with his wife and his daughters cat, Updatethe cat died. .
