A good continuation of the series, This one dealt completely with the war between the kingdom and the empire, Lark is given command of part of the army despite most people still thinking he is a spoiled disowned second son of the duke.
He is still OP and there are a bunch of "holy shit" moments, For those of you who don't know, those are the moments were someone does something so amazing that everyone just stands around gaping or saying " holy shit".
I love those moments. I am hoping for a little more world/town building in the next book, This was probably my favorite among thebooks/ volumes that I read, It was so action packed! I just love anything that involves warfare it is just so interesting for me especially when you have a genius tactician and overpowered magician as your main character.
An okay read
I'm having a difficult time with this series,
In the first book the Arch Mage dies and is reincarnated in the body of Lark, A spoiled rich duke'snd son, He has skills and magic lost for a millennium,
In this therd book we have the arch mage in war for the kid
Kingdom against the Empire.
We have the main character defeating the enemy,
Honestly this series is losing it a bit for me, The duke's sons meet and, . . nothing. Lui the older just accepts Lark's massive jump in skill that should take decades and only took a few years.
Just it didn't spark.
It is far from bad, . . just not exciting. It gets two only because the princess is named Esmeralda, I'm sorry, it was too much,
It's so badly written, my eyes cry out, I don't know what's with the author and a fixation for the word "since", and for extremely badly written grammar.
If I didn't know better I'd think this was written by a Turk with no knowledge of English,
Nonetheless, we finally get a decent magic system, even though our protagonist is so OP there is no hope for anybody else to win against Lark the Mary Sue.
P. S. The first part of this book has Lark turn into Tywin Lannister, so there's that, Action packed!
An excellent story! There is a lot of action and several threads come together.
The series could end at the end of this book, as it had quite a climactic ending and wrapped up a lot.
So, I am really happy to know there will be another book, Even though this phase has ended, there is great potential for further adventures for Lark and the other characters,
Also, I don't recall any grammatical issues, as I saw a few in the last book, So, an excellent job by the editors as well as the author! Those folks have a tough job and I really appreciate their efforts.
Just war
The things I liked about the early books are completely lacking in this one.
No city building and no personal growth, This book is entirely about the war effort, Which some might like, but thats not what I was looking for, I quit atof the way through because at that time the MC had only been inorfights and I got too bored.
A subpar take on the reincarnation subgenre, It's very clear that the series was never seen by a real editor, The prose are dull and the dialogue is lacking, It's very clear that the author absorbed a lot of shōnen anime/manga/light novels and created a writing style that is essentially "Japanese media localized by amateurs" which ends up with a bunch of cartoonish characters with no substance and a consistently cringy reading experience.
Simple, but enjoyable
Most stories involving a hero being projected from an advanced society into a more primitive one involve projecting the hero into the past.
In this case the hero is projected into the future, but this makes no effective difference, The main character is so overpowered that no development is necessary, This makes
the story simple, but the character is pleasing enough that the story is enjoyable as light entertainment, Reading just to set where it goes
Feels like a layout or a draft of the story.
The prose is weak. Considering it's not part of kindle unlimited but being sold standalone, I've seen other books that give more value for the money.
Be that as it may, I'll continue reading the story as I want to see where it goes, Imaginative
After reading thesebooks I've decided I like the jaunty way this guy tells the story.
Oh, my gosh, so many grammar errors, . . but you know what It's still a darn good story and I enjoyed it all, He manages to pull it all off, I can't give thelike I'd want because of all the errors, however, I can't wait to read more from this author.
In a way, it's like you're in the Blackstone Town tavern and he's the guy spinning a rousing good yarn over a tankard of ale or two.
And you want to hear more, I give itMagic Towers! What a satisfactory conclusion to the war! More more! Great Read
Lark is ready.
When the King's messenger comes he is ready with his army to answer the call to repel the invaders from the Empire.
To do this they must retake a fortress city and defeat legendary enemy generals, I like the action, humor, and a slight hint of romance, The characters feel real and I feel a part of the story, Will there be a bit of romance in Lark's future A Mage and a Princess are possibilities, I look forward to the next book, I binge readIn a few days
This is a great series for people who like books similar to isekai or reincarnation themed books , the main character is super overpowered but has to restart in a weaklings body and basically start over but with the knowledge of a max level wizard.
Not lewd and has solo adventures army townbuilding, Great read! Recommended! Insubordination Is Punishable By Death Stars
Havoc is the fourth installment into the Legend of The Arch Magus series by Michael Sisa.
This series is further pulling me into its clutches, Along with King Alvis, whom on every encounter forces me to appraise him again and render his character and intrigue as yet again higher.
Like with the final scene of this book,
The plot:
So amazingly intense, I absolutely would sup on magical and martial arts style wuxia fights every moment of my life, if adulting didn't require so much of me.
The war tactics. The individual skirmishes. The almost infighting you expect at any moment to commence, The only downside, is how much I missed rhe daytoday operations of Blackstone in this book, Which was far outweighed by the prolific battles, and setup for the rest of the series merely hinted at in these pages.
The writing:
I love the way in which the author continues to draw me in, There still a myriad of spelling and grammatical errors that intrude on my fulfilling reading experience, Outside of this minor annoyance, I can't think of anything that detracts from the story as a whole within the authors prose.
As there are definitive times that this wordsmith has captured my mind,
The characters:
I definitely did not feel there was as much character building, this installment, While we experienced Lark evolving, by some small degree, And further enjoyed the experiences of Austen and George, Along with Vont Aria showing back up and finally betraying her hidden identity, possibly becoming a disciple Outside of their small numbers, it did not feel as fleshed out with anyone else!
.
How DARE I almost forget Lui Marcus' suspicions into the veracity of Lark's identity! I can't wait to see how this unfolds.
Whether Evander will be able to continue duping everyone into his immersion into the young Marcus' life, And what the fallout may be, if ever discovered, VOLUMEOF LEGEND OF THE ARCH MAGUS
