on Summer of Roses

book and moves at a good pace, I like reading light romance books at night to help me relax, The support character is a scientist in oceanography and that helps bring other interest to the story besides dealing with a battered spouse, Wonderfully mystical!

This series was a joy to read, Louanne Rice, has a way of highlighting universal struggles wrapped up in the mysticism of how love, courage and togetherness can see us through even the most painful and frightening of circumstancesleading us to keep believing in happiness and love.
Good Book I was browsing through ebooks available to me through my library and found Summer of Roses available to check out, So I checked on Goodreads for reviews, although I've read a few Luanne Rice books before and I'm glad I did because I realized this was abook in a short series.
So I checked out Summer's Child, which isfirst since it was also available, I guess you could read them out of order, but I'm glad I read them in order because of the cast of characters and the story line, I enjoyed these two books, Luanne Rice can be a hit or miss for me, I read a lot, and sometimes I just want a good fiction book with a story that's easy to follow yet has a good story, I found that in these two books, Enjoyable books, easy to read, easy to escape into, nice cast of characters soout offor me, An engaging read

This is one book that I practically breezed through, The plot was engaging and kept my interest so well that I read it in one sitting, only taking a short break to eat dinner, Each character was well developed and entirely believable, There was no lag of action and suspense throughout the book, While it addressed the topic of domestic violence, it was refreshing to have the women persevere and prosper, The story of Lily and Rose called back to Maeve, the connection to Nanny the Beluga, the revenge of Ted, the devotion of Liam, and all the supporting characters continue to a satisfying but surprising conclusion.
All our questions about Ted are answered, And what Maeve knew. And there is a new love story coupled with the love of sisters, I Love Luanne Rice!

When I want to read a feelgood book with a great story, strong women, some twists and turns, . . Luanne Rice is where I go to find

one, This sequel to Summer's Child wraps up another satisfying series that warms the heart and strengthens the belief that there are still good, people in this crazy world, Love the women in both these books who will do anything to fiercely protect their own and fight for them to the finish, Luanne tells a tale with details of beautiful places that make you feel like you've traveled there and have a ringside seat,

This was a totally fine read in the car waiting for my kid to finish his hourlong class each day it didn't make sense to drive all the way home.
I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one, but the characters continued on and there was more resolution to the story, I enjoyed reading about the settings, the marine life, the Celtic music, and the tension over a dark figure from their past, I thought the addition of the marinemammalsmuggling plot just confused things and didn't feel worth the effort when it petered out, Few novelists today write with the power to move our hearts, quicken our souls, and enrich our lives like Luanne Rice, In New York Times bestsellers such as Dance with Me, Beach Girls, and The Secret Hour, she vividly captures the dramas that make all the difference in love and families.
Now, revisiting the remarkable characters introduced in her bestselling Summers Child, she brings full circle one of her most compelling explorations of the human heartall the many ways it can be brokenand the magic that can make it whole again.

Their lives were a tapestry woven together by love and loss, tragedy and hope, On the windswept coast of Nova Scotia, Lily and her eightyearold daughter, Rose, are struggling to embrace a new life even as Lily tries to let go of painful memories of the past.
Among the lives that will touch theirs are those of Liam Neill, a dedicated teacher living in selfimposed isolation Maeve Jameson, mourning the loss of a granddaughter she devoted her life to protecting and Mark Murphy, a dogged police detective obsessed with a woman who vanished years agowho may or may not have found what he seeks in a tiny, outoftheway maritime village.

During this eventful summer of roses, the pathsand fatesof these unforgettable characters will intersect in ways that none of them could ever expectand shape a future none of them could possibly foresee.
For each of them it will be a time of renewal and transformation that will circle inevitably to a past left behind, a mystery unsolved, and a love reclaimed, Summer of Roses is vintage Luanne Ricea novel that celebrates the ties of family, the passion of lovers, and the deep, unbreakable bonds that hold us together through all the seasons of our lives.

From the Hardcover edition, This was bookin a series and no where in the description or on the cover did it indicate it wasnt a stand alone book, It started you right where Im assuming the other ended and as a result I was confused as to the characters as they didnt get the introduction In this book that they hopefully got in book one.
I dont know if it was because of that or all the different plot lines that were going but I couldnt get into this book and was so happy when I finally finished it.
Also trigger warning there is domestic violence in this book, I wish I could go higher but there was some misspelled words and sentences and also some of the endings of the sentence was not quoted right, the ending was good but not to my liking and not much action that I tend to follow.
butare better then, I thought it was a little cheesy, A woman flees to Canada to hide from her husband, You don't find out why until you are/through the book, What are the chances that another woman also is in hiding from the same man, lives in the same town A little too much whale watching and Gaelicness for me.
This is the continuation of the story in sitelinkSummer's Child and the author appears to be setting up other stories revolving around these characters and the town of Cape Hawk.
It is a sweet story and truly the author is very good at that type, There are families of all types yet bound tightly there is the lovely scenery of the coast of Nova Scotia and New England and there's the dastardly bad guys getting their comeuppance.
It is a great beach read/escapism no one really cusses, there are good characters and bad characters and little of those who are some of both so it's fantasy but fun fantasy.
At least you know what to expect with Rice's novels,

Quote to remember:

All my favorite saints are mystics, because they have so much faith, They can see the most impossible things, because they see with the eyes of the heart,
I felt that Luanne Rice had a little bit too much inspiration with not enough detail for multiple books, and so she decided to jumblebooks into one,

The story of Lily and Rose was good, It was interesting, I liked hearing about her relationship with Edward, I liked the warning that was put in there, So many people have these little nagging doubts when in a relationship or before marriage and they ignore it, It's just best not to, I liked her "escape", I liked her return,

Then you toss in Marissa, Ok, fine. While she might be a somewhat part of the story, . . Just not really. I mean, what are the odds that they both live in the same town In hiding From the same husband And then you just toss in the random stuff with the estrangement of her sister.
Seriously! Let's focus on one character, Unless you are going from two different perspectives on the husband thing, But, they didn't. She was hurt and broken, but that's where that ended, Rice just dealt with a sister relationship,

And if you aren't kinda going what By this point, ADD: Random evil fisherman who likes to capture dolphins and whales, WTF! Where! WHAT! And WHY! He brings nothing to the story, He is not connected to anyone besides he wants a beluga whale that some other people happen to like, Where did that come from And why did Rice feel it was needed She could have skipped the evil man and focused more on Lily and Rose, Or Liam. Or even the fact that Edward tried to kill her Grandma

Where did that end! Oh Grandma is healthy again so we're just never going to mention that they are trying to get Edward for attempted murder Cuz nothing could be found on him As if something couldn't have been set up so that something came out of that.

But, no. What do they get him onyrs of child support! Which can they do that in court I mean, . . I'm not familiar with the law, But, a DNA test just seems like a DNA test and they wouldn't listen to the fact that he has another child, Or, maybe it could be, Helping set up that he doesn't want to be a father, so why require the test But, then, She quits the case. After handing out the evidence of the lack of child support, I just. Grrr.

I think if Rice could have kept with one plot and made it work it would have been way better, Just saying. .
