on The Hippocratic Oath
is a book i want to read, . I read this "ON BEHALF" of my brother, lol.
Anyone who works at the healthcare department has made a promise to save lives, One of their foundation is the Hippocratic Oath, First of all, what is an Oath Oath according to the legal dictionary is the act of one who, when lawfully required to tell the truth, takes God to witness that what he says is true.
It is a religious act by which the party invokes God not only to witness the truth and sincerity of his promise, but also to avenge his imposture or violated faith, or in other words to punish his false swearing if he shall be guilty of it.
Therefore, when one takes oath he/she made a binding promise to God to do or say something lawfully and ethically, An oath is constituently related to all of the professions around the world because it obliged man to never betray humanity and to continue creating a world free from danger that leads abruptly to death.
The Hippocratic Oath proposes principles governing the relationship between the physician and patients, It rules out the use of unwanted drugs or poisons and dangerous abortive techniques, It defines the honesty and discretion in physicians' side, In the original version of the Hippocratic Oath, the ancient Greek medical works reveal that Greek physicians understood that they had a duty to avoid medical errors and learn from bad outcomes.
These works showed how, why and what to tell patients regarding their diseases and dreadful diagnosis in order to develop a partnership for healing and to build trustworthiness on the side of the healer.
If it was my dream to be a doctor, the Oath would have made me feel more inspired and compelled to do my duty ethically not just as a future doctor but as a normal human being as well.
I think Doctors or physicians who were, and still is taking the oath would undoubtedly have also been inspired by the way famous ancestry of healers promised to respect and save life generously as they can.
I suggest that the Hippocratic Oath must always be passed on to the succeeding generation of healers and it should remain as a valuable guide to the ethical practice of medicine.
