Review Blast From The Past (Where Are They Now? #3) Illustrated By Toni L.P. Kelner Accessible As EPub

becoming an action film star, John Laryea appeared on The Blastoffs, a Saturday morning kid's show about a rock band in space.
His former costar, Pete Ellis, now drives a limo for a living, So when someone tries to run Laryea over, Ellis becomes the prime suspectand it's up to Tilda to clear his name.
What a fun idea for a series! This is the first book I've read in the series but it won't be the last.
I liked Tilda, a freelance journalist who specializes in tracking down former and writing magazine articles about them.
It took me about/of the way through the book before I was able to suspect who the murderer was but I had to wait until Tilda made the connections for the motive.
Fun beach read. I love this series about freelance journalist Tilda Harper, writer of the "Where Are They Now" articles.

In this outing, Tilda is researching an old comic book series that's now being made into a movie.
The star, John Laryea, was also in a "cheesy Saturday morning show about a rock band in space.
" Knowing the owner and the son of the security company for the film gives Tilda instant access to Laryea, and being on hand in time to meet the producer and director of the movie puts her in the right place for being hired to find the reclusive writer/illustrator of the shortlived comic.
Being in the right place isn't always good, however Tilda is an eyewitness to the hitandrun death of Laryea's assistant.

As always, the story moves at a fast pace, the characters are well drawn, and the mystery plausible.
An unexpected bonus: I learned something about the comic books industry!
I came across this book years ago in the bookstore and even though they tell you not to judge a book by it's cover I bought this one based on that alone.
I have no idea why it intrigued me so much, but I brought it home and

there is sat on my bookshelf for years which is probably why they tell you not to buy books just because their covers intrigue you.

I didn't really know much about the book when I started reading and I particularly didn't know that it was a sequel.
In fact, I didn't discover that until I went to see, part way through reading, if there were more books in the series.
It's so rare to be able to pick up the third book in a series and read it on it's own merits without having read the others and without feeling like an entire history is being dictated to you.
But that's how this book read, I think that fact might impress me more than any of the story or characters did,

About those things, The main character was enjoyable and believable, She felt like a real and whole person rather than a simple cliche, which was a refreshing change.
I love when my main characters feel whole, . . The murder mystery itself was obvious, but the obviousness of it was obscured by the details of the second mystery.
Any time you started to think too hard about who had done it you'd be done back into the mystery of who had drawn Pharos.
Rather than falling back on the normal red herring tricks though there are hints of that here and there Kelner went with the old fashioned stage magicians distraction method and well it didn't prevent me from working out who did it long before our leading lady had a hint, it DID make reading the rest of the book from that point on still interesting.
Whole characters, comic book movies which I'm a sucker for and well written distractions, . . it's definitely worth the read, Even if you start here at book,

Satisfying third entry to the "Where Are They Now" series, Good mysteries, yes there are several for Tilda to figure out, and she does get them solved, finally.
Lots of humour, characters from the previous books making appearances, and very little Nicole helped make this a fun read.
I'm hoping there will be a fourth book, I enjoyed this cozy style mystery, There are enough chuckles throughout the novel to keep it light and enough 'insider' type info about making movies or tv shows to make for interesting and diverse stories in the series.
A wonderfully written mystery that kept me guessing right until the end, I only wish there were more books in this series! I liked this one, even if it was a little different than the other two.
Tilda spends the majority of the book onlocation with a film crew on Cape Cod instead of bouncing between her apartment and the Entertain Me! offices.
She's working on a story about Pharos, an upcoming blockbuster film adaptation of a popular cult comic book.
Oh yeah, she also has to track down the writer/artist of the comic, who hasn't been heard from since it was canceled.
All in a day's work!

Pharos, both the comic and the movie based on it, is really neat.
The other fictional creations from previous books, Kissing Cousins and Cowtown, were just as well realized, but had a certain cheeseball factor to them.
This allowed for plenty of jokey material, and it was a lot of fun, Pharos, on the other hand, could be a truly awesome comic book, I can picture the lighthouse and the mermaid Melusine and everything, I loved all the scenarios in this comicwithinabook, By the end it felt like it was a real comic I had read,

Tilda does some of her best investigative work in this book, I love watching her work, I've always enjoyed watching her process of elimination, especially when it comes to Internet nutcases, This time she interviews a variety of interesting folk in the movie and comic businesses, It was fun to get a behindthescenes look at these two industries, which I am not really familiar with.
All of this would have been compelling enough, but then there's a hitandrun murder mystery to solve to build tension even more.

I felt Tilda grew a bit in this book, She decides not to gossip about an actor's shortcomings and almost comes to love her current bad roommate's menagerie of animals.
I was a little disappointed that I only got to see Cooper a couple times in this one.
And simply via telephone, no less! He was in the last book a lot though, so I'll survive.
And a part of me also missed Tilda and Nicole's bitchy repartee, But this fun detour was a great way to keep things fresh and me craving more, Can't wait for the next book in this fun series, I had the pleasure of reading Toni L, P. Kelners Blast from the Past this week, A fun, quick read, especially for mystery and comic book lovers,

The storys main character is Tilda Harper, a freelance reporter who is hired to find Leviathan, creator of a comic book series while the film adaptation is in progress on Massachusetts Cape Cod.
Tilda witnesses a deadly car accident where a limousine assigned to Pete Ellis drives directly into the films movie star, John Laryea and his assistant, Foster.
Foster dies instantly and Tilda takes it upon herself to clear Elliss name,

Kelners wit and attention to detail make for an enjoyable read, enabling the reader to learn along the way as she explains basic principles of psychology, preservation of art and use of the internet to investigate both the whereabouts of Leviathan and in her opinion, the innocence of Ellis.

The reader is kept guessing throughout the story as Kelner guides them to a satisfying conclusion.
Well done!
