Gorgeously crafted book.
The layout and spreads do justice to the artwork, and the interviews are interesting, wonderfull art pics Surveys "pop surrealist" / gothic / "dark lowbrow" art throughartists, for each giving a selection of their work and responses to a series of questions about themselves, their influences, creative processes, etc.
Like his earlier sitelinkWeirdo Deluxe: The Wild World of Pop Surrealism amp Lowbrow Art this would probably make a great coffeetable book in a Brooklyn hipster's flat for me they're interesting and useful for considering the range of fairly commercial contemporary art.
Like Jordan's previous book, sitelinkWeirdo Deluxe: The Wild World of Pop Surrealism amp Lowbrow Art, this book showcases the work of a number of Lowbrow/PopSurrealist artists
along with short interviews.
My favorites include Jason d'Aquino, Bob Dob, Laurie Lipton, Tara McPherson, and Brian Viveros, but all of the artists featured in this collection are great.
Here's hoping Jordan puts out another book in this series, Like a corpse in a zombie movie, the Goth movement has been resuscitatedstronger, more powerful, and more contagious than ever before.
From fashion to music, Goth influences have crept into every area of pop culture, and nowhere is that influence creepier, more fascinating, and more playful than in the art world.
Weirdo Noir is the followup volume to Weirdo Deluxe, the book that brought the once underground Low Brow art scene to prominence in the public eye.
In these pages you'll find the latest and greatest work fromLow Brow arists who have embraced the dark side, employing gothic themes in their art.
Spooky and witty, Weirdo Noir is destined to become a classic of the millennial Goth aesthetic.
