written in good easy steps, I am reading a section at a time and trying the techniques, Feeling confident about 'having a go', My only critique is on colour making but there are whole books on that subject, I would recommend this book for any painter who wishes to try watercolour portraits, It approaches the subject well, but it does not go into great depth involving the techniques needed to paint very life like portraits of faces, I liked the book because like everyone else we are all at certain painting standards, Some people need little or no advice but most people could use the advice including myself this book offers, A good start to accurate portrait painting, The book arrived within time frame forecast, well packaged and is suited to painters up to intermediate standard in my view A lovely book showing a glimpse at the techniques used by this supremely talented artist.
She gives
a list of the colours she uses on her palette in conjunction with colour mixing recipes fo skin tones, shadow etc, Beautiful photos show progression of the various paintings used to illustrate these techniques in a step by step way, The only negative I can think of, is that Peggi Habets no nonsense approach to portraiture in this tricky medium, may give begginner water colourist the sense that what she does is easy.
Make no mistake she is a well practiced master of her medium, and one should not be disappointed or discouraged if your initial pieces do not look as accomplished as hers.
What this book can do for the begginner though is provide guidance to make their first attempts at watercolour portraits far enjoyable, and pleasing, If you have been painting for awhile this book is for you, I found this book very helpful in describing colour combinations for flesh tones, It is a smallish book so I can take it in my purse, to doctors appointments and keep myself amused, My daughter saw it and order one for herself, Excellent information for the price, You will not be sorry you bought it!,shipping.
