was expecting a book entirely made of frames and bubbles: physics in comics, instead I read a lively text sometimes feeling I was going too fast, the illustrations are definitely entertaining, I think I'm now going to head to the two recommended books at the end of the This book provides a fantastic and well written introduction into some key physics concepts, from quantum mechanics to the structure of our universe.
And of course, all the many MANY things we do not know about these things, As someone else here has written, sometimes the book does try a bit too hard to be zany, but for the most part the weird and wonderful cartoons and examples often involving ferrets in bizarre scenarios actually help understand some of the concepts being discussed.
I have a very modest knowledge of a few scientific subjects and found these considerations interesting and refreshing.
Dont buy it if you hate baboons or cats, The information covered is interesting and presented simply enough for me to understand with my total lack of physics knowledge, I would have enjoyed it without the constant attempts to be zany and funny, which I found grating, I would probably recommend this book to a teenager, but not to an adult, Great! It helps if you have a little bit of knowledge regarding quantum physics otherwise just read it a bit slower, It is an eye opener forcing you to read and then go back a few pages to refresh your memory, The illustrations are not really suitable for the Kindle edition but thats a minor point, I've read a lot about quantum science but this book looks outside the box and makes your brain hurt by opening new pathways for you to think

about.
Am full of praise for this author, I give itstars, deserves abut nothing is perfect, Ce livre est super. This book describes complex concepts in cosmology in easy to read language and the style that keeps the reader engaged.
Little jokes here and there make it even pleasurable, Highly recommended! I will not say a lot apart from to have any impact popular physics books need to be accessible, In that respect this is as good as it gets, A bit silly in places the author is humble and human, I have read a lot of similar books and to be honest not a lot was new, However a great way of refreshing your knowledge or learning for the first time that we know less than we think This book is an absolute MUST for every scientist.
It is mind boggling!! One could read it hundreds of times and I am convinced one still will find new ideas to think about, Seul petit regret, le manque de termes techniques pour les scientifiques mais j'imagine que cela est plutôt un avantage pour les autres ce livre grand public est vraiment très bien, se lit sans aucune difficulté et dresse un excellent bilan des problématiques actuelles If you ask scientists who study such things how well we understand the Universe, the answer you will get is not very well at all.
This book takes a light hearted look at the vastness of our ignorance, You will not learn much by reading this book it is, afterall, about what we do not know, You will have fun exploring the subjects where our lack of knowledge is most certainly lacking, Readig on my Kindle paperwhite, some of the illustrations are very small and difficult to read but they are secondary to the main text, Some of the jokes are so bad that, in some cases, it might considered a blessing,

Prepare to learn everything we still dont know about our strange and mysterious universeHumanitys understanding of the physical world is full of gaps, Not tiny little gaps you can safely ignore there are huge yawning voids in our basic notions of how the world works, PHD Comics creator Jorge Cham and particle physicist Daniel Whiteson have teamed up to explore everything we dont know about the universe: the enormous holes in our knowledge of the cosmos.
Armed with their popular infographics, cartoons, and unusually entertaining and lucid explanations of science, they give us the best answers currently available for a lot of questions that are still perplexing scientists, including: Why does the universe have a speed limit Why arent we all made of antimatter What or who is attacking Earth with tiny, superfast particles What is dark matter, and why does it keep ignoring us It turns out the universe is full of weird things that dont make any sense.
But Cham and Whiteson make a compelling case that the questions we cant answer are as interesting as the ones we can, This fully illustrated introduction to the biggest mysteries in physics also helpfully demystifies many complicated things we do know about, from quarks and neutrinos to gravitational waves and exploding black holes.
With equal doses of humor and delight, Cham and Whiteson invite us to see the universe as a possibly boundless expanse of uncharted territory thats still ours to explore.
