face it Terry is well past his best and anyone buying the shannara series now is doing it out of loyalty to Shea Ohmsford and Allanon.
The peril to the four lands peaked with the Shadowen and the most recent threats have been pretty underwhelming but still it is nice to pop in everyyears or so to see the latest scion of Brin and/or Jair in action and how the wish song is not evolving.
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER Following The Black Elfstone, The Skaar Invasion is the second book of the epic four part conclusion to the Shannara series from one of the acknowledged masters of the fantasy genre.

The Four Lands are under siege, Wielding a magical ability virtually impossible to combat, mysterious invaders defeat the most fearsome Troll armies, then focus their savagery on the Druid orderand all hope seems lost.

Eventually the invaders reveal a human face, but understanding their motives in no way mitigates the brutality of their actions.
Dar Leah, once the High Druids Blade, has crossed pathsand swordswith their ruthless leader before, So he knows that if any hope exists, it rests in the hands of the Druid Drisker Arc, now trapped inside vanished Paranor.

As Drisker races to find the ancient knowledge that could free him, Dar goes in search of Tarsha Kaynin, the young woman blessed with the powerful gift of the wishsong, whose magic could draw Drisker back into the world of the living.
But little do they know that what appeared to be a formidable invading force may only be the forerunner of a much larger armyone intent on nothing less than total conquest.

Praise for The Skaar Invasion

Like The Black Elfstonebefore it, and perhaps even so, The Skaar Invasionis one of Terry Brookss most aggressively political novels.
It engages with familiar conflicts and themes, digging deep into the challenges facing humanity and askingbeggingfor us to do better The Skaar Invasionis an exhilarating, intricate portrait of a world at war with itself.

Brooks continues the mastery of the world, as may be expected when working in one as developed as Shannara.
RT Book s A good read but really far too short, The original shannara books were complete stories which lead from one to the other without the knife edge endings.
This wasa good read, it is not great read and I was deflated at the ending and now have to wait for the next one.
I just think the author and publishing house are trying to squeeze as much money as then can by taking a good story whichyears ago would have been one book and now they chopped up the story and padded it into three books to get a maximum return.
I have been reading Terrys books since I was a teen, now I'm in my's they still capture and hold my attention like no other.
Knowing that this series is coming to its conclusion is,both bitter and sweet, I can't wait for the next book but I'm dreading it too, Throughout this series the quality of writing has been first class, I would recommend this series to everyone who loves fantasy books, Not sure what book these other reviewers have read, I am also a long term Terry Brooks fan and have read and re read all his books.
This is by far the poorest, It lacks depth in both character development and plot, Normally I cannot wait to get the next book but not this time, I am really struggling to finish this one, Admittedly I am not a fan of the TV series, I did however re read the Chronicles after abandoning the TV adaptation and enjoyed it immensly, I'm afraid something of a spill over from the TV has occurred, Maybe this is just an elaborate screen play, This book was well enough written perhaps not up to the standard of early books, But the author has fallen into the e book habit of only publishing half a book and charging an exorbitant price for it.
If I wanted to read a serial I would have looked for one, Seven hours if your slow of reading and then to stop randomly at

a point to encourage the purchase the next instalment is an example of the worst sort of on line marketing and not worthy of an established author.
I was looking forward to these books but will buy no, I will wait until they come on the second hand market at a few pence each,
