on Running

In Fear

This is a stand alone novel,

I found this book highly disturbing, That said I also found it engrossing and impossible to put down : I would think twice before allowing a child to read it but I would recommend it to all my adult friends.
It was a very unique world with incredible characters that had me rooting for them until the very end, I just think the subject matter ls a bit too mature for most impressionable teens, I would love to read other books in this universe as I really enjoyed it and am kinda sad it is a stand alone instead of a series.

This book is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who enjoy dystopian suspense thriller paranormal action adventures with plenty of horror and a dash of romance : Whoa! I should've stopped when the protagonist told me to.

Okay, not really, This impacted me because I kept reading, It just wasn't
Avail Yourself Running Assembled By Elizabeth A. Reeves Provided As Softcover
what I expected based on other stuff I've read by this author, That'll teach me.

What a powerful tale, though, I just wish it ended with some optimism, if not an actual HEA, I get that this just wasn't that kind of story, But I started to like these characters right before the abrupt ending,

I'm glad I read this, I just shouldn't have started my day with it,

I feel like this should've been a prequel to someone else's story, Like a harbinger of doom that some other character could find a way to overcome, Someone who was found before they felt the need to run, perhaps,

I believe in order to be captivated by the book you have to very early on get interested in the main character.
You have to care about his or her fate and therefore want to read on,
Unfortunately for me, this book did not do that, I found the writing style very erratic without giving the main character any depth, This might well have been on purpose as the main character Tess is running from her own inner demons as well as outer dangers and has to deal with the gift of feeling other people emotions all the time.
So obviously for her there is no calm, there is no peace, And the story is told from her point of view, But I found the book to be really hard to get into, The description of her feelings and thoughts seemed very shallow to me, I did not find a story developing, So after about a quarter of the book I had to call it quits, Death is nothing to fear, when what you fear most is yourself,

Afraid of herself, and what she might become, seventeen year old Tess has run away from home, On the streets there is no comfort for her, for she can feel the emotions of everyone around her at all times, and is terrified that she is being driven mad.
