one is safe. Lainey isn't looking for safe, "

What a delight! Not only the main charactersa headstrong woman with a reputation that a man could never tame her, as well as a couple of compelling brothers with scars from the Civil War.
They team up, becoming sort of aimless drifters, playing cards, and running from God, At least their perception of him at a vulnerable part of their lives,

Their compelling back stories become entangled eventually with Wisconsin's Great Preshtigo Fire of, The horrifying details of some of the scenes come from historical events, which are laid out in the satisfying Epilogue to this rewarding historical novel.
The Red Fury by Naomi Musch was even better than The Green Veil, which is the first in the series and made it to my Top Ten list of.
The Red Fury is already on my Top Ten of! Naomi Musch is a master at planting nagging questions in the reader's mindquestions that must be answered.
Now.
Which brother will she end up with The drifter/gambler or the tender protector You won't figure out the romance in the first chapteror theth! The history of the great fires of the region same fires that blazed through Chicago was fascinating, captivating, and chilling.
The Red Fury is an absolute, mustread! Spurned twice since the death of her first betrothed in a logging accident, Lainey Kade has become the object of talk.
"That Lainey, she's a shrew all right, Not ever going to marry, likely," the gossips say, Fleeing heartache and flaunting convention, Lainey seeks solace instead in seeking adventure and breaking the rules,

Embarking on a journey where she hopes to put the past behind, Lainey crosses paths with brothers Zane and Kelly Beaumont and pretends to be a married woman.
But they find her out, and she soon forges an adventurous companionship with these men whose nightmares since the Civil War have never let them return home.
Following the lead of the next thrill, the ties of their friendship tighten, and Lainey denies love's rekindled spark, However, as fires rage across the Wisconsin wilderness, the brothers attraction may tear them each apart, and Lainey may be consumed by the fury burning inside her.
Loved this one as much as the first in series! It is so good! The Red Fury Empire in Pine Book Two by Naomi Musch is a plus novel recently released by Desert Breeze Publishing, October,, a warm, inspirational historical romance.
The first novel in the series is The Green Veil Empire in Pine Book One, When I read the first one, I couldn't wait for the second, and now, I can't wait for the third, Lainey Kade has been unlucky in love, so when she meets Zane and Kelly Beaumont, she vows they'll only be friends, What will she do when both brothers fall for her Which will she choose, if any The author has created strong characters that will melt and wrench your heart.
Kelly loves Lainey and buys her a ring, Zane loves Lainey, too, and his passion burns as strong as the red fury of a fire, but he takes himself out of the picture so Kelly can propose to Lainey.
Lainey cares deeply for both brothers and doesn't want to hurt either, but she feels she can't give her whole heart and wonders if she'll ever be able to give it to any man.
The three become the closest friends when an accident takes you by surprise, I wondered if the red fury would start from a lamp left burning so Zane could find his way back into the livery, but, of course, Naomi Musch wouldn't be that predictable.
This is a powerful novel that will rip your heart out, so be prepared, It's a great love story of selfdenial, trust, selfishness, courage, loyalty, and true love so passionate the red fury has nothing on it, And talk about determined, Kelly is a courageous man who never gives up and keeps on keeping on until the red fury twists its way through their lives without warning.
I promise you, if you read these two books, you'll have found an author you'll want to keep reading, Her novels are moving and powerful love stories that evoke your emotions and reduce you to tears, but through all the hardships she has her characters endure, God has a perfect plan that will melt your heart.
I rate both these prestigious novels a rating of five, Naomi Musch is an author you'll want to read over and over again, no doubt about it, She'll take your heart on a journey you won't soon forget, Nearly a generation after The Green Veil, set in the great north woods of Wisconsin in the lumber era, Naomis second story in the series, The Red Fury, ramps up the tension and tosses decorum to the wind in the hustlings Midwest.

Lainey Kade found true love once, but after her fiancés death, cant seem to hold onto another engagement, After a second humiliating breakup shes ready to leave town and reinvent herself, Adventure comes in the form of a lengthy business/pleasure trip with her brother and cousins when her father sends them to Chicago with sightseeing around the state and cities expected.

In this time when nightmares still haunt those affected by the recent Civil War, a pair of young veterans roam the area, looking for adventure and a means to quell the grief at the loss of their parents.
Kelly and Zane Beaumont live fast and furiously Zane always on the edge as a card playing, pleasureseeking highroller and his

younger brother Kelly his sidekick.
The six young people meet briefly in Chicago, then again on the train north, They decide to travel together when they realize how well they get along, Lainey, definitely not looking for romance, pretends to be married to her cousin, She doesnt fool the sharpeyed Zane for long, however, Her adventuresome unconventional spirit attracts him, but he buries any feelings deep, especially when its obvious Kelly has fallen for her hard,

While staying in Green Bay, Lainey sketches, Her drawings present an opportunity for livelihood, which she seizes, much to the horror of her family, Lainey is insistent, however, and they reluctantly let her stay, deciding to reveal that she has inherited a piece of property in nearby Peshtigo, When she invites the brothers to check out the area, they decide to stop traveling and find work and stay in the growing lumber town.
Zane and Kelly act as benevolent watchdogs and even accompany Lainey on a visit home for a wedding,

Lainey, Zane, and Kelly work hard at their respective jobs, tiptoeing around their feelings and in Zanes case, his demons, Kelly dreams of a future with Lainey, while she holds only platonic feelings for him and fights her admiration for the haunted Zane, A terrible accident, a horrific fire that gives rise to the title of the book, and the aftermath of devastation show them how precious life and faith are.

Naomis attention to detail, scene and setting are pitchperfect true to era, I felt the flames and terror of the great fire of, the same night as the Great Chicago fire, I loved Laineys spirit, mourned and rejoiced with them all as they realized dreams, loved, fought for life and independence, and breathed the smoke of history.
Another winner for those who revel in the drama of the past,
My curiosity about the Peshtigo, Wisconsin, fire drew me to this work of fiction, Musch left quite an impression on me of the horrors these people suffered, This section of the novel brings tears of compassion,

I also wanted to continue this series to learn more about Colette and Manason's family, I liked Lainey and enjoyed this love story involving brothers healing from their own wounds, It's well written and realistic, This is definitely an author whose work I want to continue to read,

In 'The Red Fury' author Naomi Musch has once again written an epic, masterful novel set in Wisconsin amongst the enormous white pine wilderness.
The intense love and loyalty of two brothers is put to the ultimate test as both fall deeply for the same woman, My emotions were battered as I devoured this tale, . . amused by the antics of these charmers one minute and heartbroken by tragic circumstances beyond their control the next,

A beautifully written, impeccably researched novel of faith, redemption, hope, and tender romance, I highly recommend The Red Fury! I'm so looking forward to the next book in this series, The Black Rose! Sounds pretty enticing, does it not! The Red Fury continues the Empire in Pine series a generation later.
The story premise reeled me in right away and kept me reading, wondering how Laineys relationship with the Beaumont brothers would develop, I had never heard of the Peshtigo Fire prior to this novel and found myself horrified about what happened in history, Muschs descriptive writing combined with actual facts from the event kept me riveted and deeply invested, I definitely recommend reading the books of this series in order, since each one focuses on a different generation,
