While many chapters in this book offer practical advice for caregiving for older adults, I found the chapters that focused on mindfulness extremely useful, even as someone who is probably not in the target audience for this book.
Helpful guidance for looking for a good place for a parent with Dementia, The first Kindle book I've ever returned for a refund, The author is a social worker, and as such she is extremely pronursing home, even going so far as to recommend calling protective services and hiring workers to evaluate relationships.
She is oblivious to the dynamics of caring for a spouse, offers little advice beyond discussing why one should not feel guilty over using a nursing home, and otherwise encourages "mindful" caregivers to give care so long as it is convenient, then turn the recipient over to the pros.
With an agenda like that, I have no interest in finishing this book, I happened upon this book accidentally and am so glad I did, My mother is currently struggling to find answers and creative solutions to help her parents, both with unique needs and ailments.
I honestly felt better in just the first few chapters, knowing that we were not alone by a long shot in some of the struggles we have been up against.
The topic is heavy, but there are so many wonderful resources and stories in the book that really do help anyone that is a caregiver and are feeling down.
I bought my mother a copy immediately and we are both having the hard conversations now to make sure my grandparents get the best and most appropriate care.

I have given “The Mindful Caregiver”because of some minor design and editing issues that I found distracting as a reader.
The vertical spacing between the lines of text is quite tight, which makes your eye work too hard to follow the lines as you read.
Editing issues include dangling modifiers and some redundancy that would have benefited from revision or trimming.
But otherwise I highly recommend the book to anyone caring for a family member or friend with a longterm illness or condition.
