Peruse The Event (Apocalypse, #1) Conceived By Talia R. Blackwood Format Physical Edition
for Lucian and Raide, I immediately adored Emanuel, which left me feeling rather cold towards the actual main characters of this story.
Despite that, I enjoyed the book, it was a fun read, with a cool setting and lots of interesting characters.
On to the next one! Huh The last five lines in the book are completely contradictory, And they're kinda important. I'm confused. Usually Im not a fan of m/m genre, Writing m/m is often a justification for writing platitudes that wouldnt be accepted in a “straight” book, I love originality and I loved this book, Regardless of gender or group, everyone can find a bit of himself in the characters, Their voices remained in my head for several days, I really enjoyed this book, so much so I'm now reading thend books in series The Event Apocalypse bookHearts

A cataclysmic event causes the world Lucian knew to nearly cease to exist, with the earth churned up and building crumbling Lucian's small band of survivors seek others and shelter, but with the acid rain and the strange night time creatures they have a harsh journey ahead of them.
Raide was a novice monk when the earthquake first struck and the acid rain fell, he watched as those around him disappeared and with another young novice sets out to discover what happened.
Raide and Lucian meet, Raide overjoyed that his soulmate still lives and their attraction flares, but the Dark Ones are out there seeking to spread their blackness and Raide and Lucian must fight for each other.

This is a great story of two nearly parallel worlds colliding, with few survivors and a daunting new world.
Lucian survives the earthquake and the acid rain, he rushes to his best friend Emanuel and they discover nearly everyone else has disappeared.
With one other survivor they set off to check on loved ones and join up with those who have survived, they face the desolation and set off for the city hoping there are more people.
Raide and Julius are the only survivors at the monastery and they set off to find out what has happened and if anyone else has survived, but they fall into the hands of the Dark Ones before being rescued by Raide's soulmate, Lucian, and they all embark on a journey of survival hoping to avoid the Dark Ones and the night creatures.

This is one of those stories that has quite a bit for us to grasp, somehow two parallel worlds have collided and the destruction is devastating, we have bands of survivors searching for others, but none of them can make sense of what has happened until people from the opposite worlds meet.
Mysterious night creatures attack at night and there are bands of Dark Ones or evil people who roam during the day, then we have the various relationships of the survivors.
We also discover that some people on Raide's world have soulmates and some people can see auras, it adds that bit of extra intrigue to the story as well as the fact that Raide's world was three month's infront with time.

This story holds your attention from the start but you do begin to question Lucian's relationship with Emanuel early on, but you begin to understand the dynamics of their friendship.
Lucian's and Raide's relationship is pretty special their coming together is both sweet and powerful, The discoveries we make are good and the slight action we see is great, The band of survivors are an interesting selection and you become invested in their journey and wonder what they face.
The world building is great, you get a wonderful sense of the desolation that surrounds them all on their journey with the burnt out cars and destroyed buildings, the piles of empty clothes and the nameless, faceless identification as though those that are gone never existed.

I recommend this to those who love strange postapocalyptic events, bonds being made, relationships being forged, hot sweet loving, kidnappings and rescues and and ending that is also a beginning.
Original Blog Post: sitelink: Apocalypse Seriesamp: The Event amp The Landing by Talia R, Blackwood

This Christmas break, I decided to take my chances on Talia Blackwood's Apocalypse series: The Event and The Landing.
Both are set in a world where an apocalyptic event surprises everyone and then those who survive, disappear, Only a handful survive and in the course of their seeking food and shelter from the weird occurences going on, they meet young girls, gay men, some older tourists, some really evil weird individuals and criminals.
They seem to be coming from different times as well, Basically, the event causes a disturbance in the timeshift continuum causing time and space to go haywire and leave in its wake a totally different world filled with dangerous Dark ones, acid rain, phages, killer moths and poisonous green gas.
These handful of survivors have one thing in common: they all seem to be bright, pure, innocent and honorable,

As I was reading these two books, I could not help but feel the plot was familiar somehow.
I knew I was not just thinking specifics but then I remembered, I went to my library of paperback and hardbound books, I spotted it: The Langoliers by Stephen King, I went through my extensive DVD collection I spot the two movies: Where Have All The People Goneand Vanishing onth Street.
I recall watching the Langoliers on TV when it first came out as well, Now that that is settled, I just decided to read these two novels as from the eyes of the author.

I really, really enjoyed these two books,

Why Well, for all of the post apocalyptic disastrous action and events going on here, I thank the author for NOT! giving us any ZOMBIES! Thank you! If zombies were part of the plot, I would have included Night of the Comet in my list and just dropped this series.

We have an exmonknovitiate, a future rock star, a hero pilot who was not and a supposed criminal who was actually an innocent.
This is their story of survival in a dystopic world gone terribly wrong and finding the love of their lives.

There were a lot of tense scenes here like the men having to deal with a serial killer and his ghosts or having to dodge the killer jelly fish or moths that melt the flesh.
The attempted rape scene was quite intense until it was stopped when Mendoza risks all to save Adrian,

So I do see where the author may have come from in terms of plot and events, but the stories of the men involved and the things they had to go through were not only original, but worthy of a dark scifi dystopic novel.
These were quite hard to put down,

The two stories read parallel to each other so can actually be read separately or without seeming order.
Both books start on a parallel time and end before the men of book one meet up with the men of book two.
Each story tells of the fight for survival, Each book ends on a question of: what do they do now

For those of you who like dystopic, action packed, scifi books sans the zombies, this is a great book to read and enjoy.
I did. I really enjoyed this book , I read it in one day, The characters were great and it felt like you were there along with the characters but I did have a few confusing moments what happened to Mauro and who was earl was earl his jeep.
But I've already pre ordered book two, Potete trovare tutte le mie recensioni su sitelink blogspot. it/

.

I do enjoy postapocalyptic stories, I like seeing how survivor mode kicks in for people,

This has a lot of elements in it, maybe too many for me settle in and focus on the big picture.
There are some strongly drawn characters and while I wanted to see their story to the end the worldbuilding seemed a bit fuzzy.

Lucian is a rockstar just waiting for his chance to hit the big time, Unfortunately the end of the world happened before he got his shot, The Event happens, a collision of two realities with slightly different times resulting in the creation of one that's not quite right.
The survivors are thrown into a battle between White and Dark factions, not sure who they should trust,

While there are some interesting concepts here the story didn't quite grab me as much as I was hoping.

Fantastic cover though. A mysterious event destroys the world and merges two adjacent realities, The Dark Ones are gathering and now more than ever, Lucian and Raide must fight for each other and those they love.

After an apocalyptic eventa devastating earthquake and acid rainthe world merges with a parallel reality, Atmospheric gases obscure the sun and strange entities haunt the night, A group of survivors start a journey to seek aid,

Lucian Seagrave, a city boy with aspirations of becoming a rock singer, discovers Raide, a former monk from the adjacent reality.
Raide reads auras and knows Lucian is fated to be his soul mate,

But the Dark Ones are lurking, As any hope to find help fades, Lucian and Raide learn they have to fight for each other and those they love.
