very good novella! Just want I needed,
A book of love letters that actually show us the love letters youll be amazing at how many books of this plot do not show the reader the love letters, so we never know why they fell in love.
A scarred hero his face, beauty and the beast kind of thing, that growls but what he truly is is hurt and alienated,
A romantic hero and a sexy one as well,
A heroine the wants beyond a pretty face and good manners,
This book might not be the very best I ever read, but its wellwritten, a quick read, and the characters are well fleshed out! It has many things I like in a plot.
If I were you, Id go for it! Well, I'm not a big fan of Cyrano de Bergerac retellings, Or homages. Whatever you want to call them, Considering Cyrano spoiler There's too much dishonesty inherent in the premise.
But bigger problem for me here is once the truth came out, everything happened WAY too quickly, I kept scrolling back to see if I missed something, Cute story. Handsome, inarticulate Frank Newnham asks for his cousin, Christian's help when he woos Rosanne Lacy by letter, Rosanne falls for Frank's delicious prose, but when they meet in person at a ducal house party, Rosanne can't understand why Frank seems so, . . dull. And why is she drawn to the dark, brooding Earl of Bruton, with his scarred face and air of melancholy
This, words Regency novella was inspired by Cyrano de Bergeracbut with the happy ending readers crave.
It was originally published in the anthology At The Duke's Wedding, A rather cute retelling of the Cyranoplot, which unfortunately turns totally unbelievable towards the end, particularly because of a toofast pacing, even for a novella, Thus the, stars. This novella is a quick nice read whose potential was somewhat poorly exploited, The Cyrano trope would have allowed, if not demanded, a more engaging correspondence and more articulate wooing, while the balcony scene e, g. was hastily done with barely two worn out quotations from Shakespeare and the correspondence lacked both charachter and depth with the only exception of one episode that is at least pivotal in the plot.
It you like the idea of love based on affinity of souls discovered through correspondence with the hindrance of initial mistaken identities, I recommend "Love in the Afternoon" by Lisa Kleypass.
What do a scarred, embittered gentleman, a handsome, albeit speechless around women, gentleman amp a beautiful woman have in common The makings for an amusing novella by Miranda Neville,
Whats a cousin to do when hes asked by his handsome, easygoing cousin to help him write letters to the woman he has fallen in love with Christian, Lord Bruton, reluctantly helps Frank write love letters to the girl hes fallen in love with after briefly meeting her at a house party.
No one has caught Rosannes attention until she meets the handsome Lieutenant Frank Newnham at a house party, And the letters she receives from him have her falling in love,
UNTIL they meet again at another house party, Rosanne is having a hard time relating to the silent Frank to the passionate Frank of her letters, While Christian, realizing that he has fallen in love with his cousins lady, What follows is a wonderfully amusing story of honor amp the power of love,
I adore Ms. Nevilles writing amp P. S. I Love you does not disappoint!
So I only give it four starts due to how long it took for me to get into it and also the ending.
Omg I am so glad she didnt choose Frank, I did not like him he was so dull,
I fell instantly in love with Christian, I honestly felt he deserved the world from the beginning, Miranda Neville grew up in England, loving the books of Georgette Heyer and other Regency romances, She lived in Vermont with her daughter and an immensely talented cat, who made a book trailer for her novel, The Importance of Being Wicked, Her historical romances published by Avon include the popular Burgundy Club series, about Regency book collectors, and The Wild Quartet, .
