Begin Your Journey With Hell On Wheels (Bluewater Bay #3) Imagined By Z.A. Maxfield Provided As Electronic Format
by Nick J. Russo.stars! I've seen mixed reviews on this book, but I really liked it, I liked Nash. He has a big heart and needs to be needed, He's loyal to his family, especially his sister who's in a wheelchair, It should also be mentioned that Nash has an identical twin brother, Healy, who's also gay, I found that interesting. Makes me wonder how common that is, Also makes me wonder if we'll be getting Healy's story at some point,
Spencer is a British actor with an occasional role on Wolf's Landing, Nick Russo did an outstanding job with the British accent, He's definitely one of my favorite narrators and one of the main reasons I have enjoyed this series so much! This was just what I was expecting it to be a sweet, fun, opposites attract romance.
Nash's life has revolved around the needs of his sister and father, working at the family business, with no room for him to move on or settle down.
Spencer is an actor recovering from a nasty break up with his husband, who he had been with for the past six years.
The two waste no time hooking up and that's the beginning of a friends with benefits relationship.
After all, Spencer is moving on shortly and appears to be way out of Nash's league, Nash has had a taste of life with one of the actors on the show and doesn't want to get involved in that lifestyle.
As their relationship progresses, both men have to face some truths about they way their lives have been unfolding and seeing themselves from the perspective of others really opens their eyes, but by then it might just be too late.
I enjoyed both the MC's and even admit to coming around to liking Spencer's ex Peter, more than I expected to.
This book easily works as a standalone even though it is a part of the Bluewater Bay world.
The book is filled with quirky endearing people, there is an attempt to make people multidimensional rather than use a typical bad guy mould.
Unfortunately it lacks connection, theres zero spark, I sensed no attraction, it all started as an opportunist rebound hookup and nothing that came after convinced me it was more.
Given focus it would be a great read,
Nash is a martyr without cause, more universal fixit mechanic/therapist than an individual, He was too passive about the relationship never felt it was something that mattered to him except for what he considered unbeatable sex.
Spencer, Very reserved British dont you know!, It could have worked well, but when they spent time apart Spencer was still debating if he still loved his ex, not thinking of Nash that doesnt scream HEA to me.
Spencer never really opened up or let his emotions out,
Peter, the ex, There was an attempt to make more of him that mainly had me wtfing! Then that big gesture WTF! Actually everything that followed that had me rolling my eyes, until then I wasstarring because despite the flaws the writing is engaging and smooth reading.
Supporting Cast
Nashs family heard way too much about them, likeable but overwhelming, the story is more about them than a romance.
Aces inventions would only need that much page time if Ace was the main character! Trick amp Bast, no idea if theyre meant to be a couple or not but I kind of wished I was reading their story at times.
The Swear jar,
FUCK the FUCKING swear jar,
It was quirky at first but seriously a family member breaks down and the first thought is for you to say together swear jar
I liked the writing, I liked the setting, I liked all the characters, but I didnt really like the book.

I usually enjoy ZAM's stories, I'm gaga for her sitelinkCowboys series,
But this one This one didn't work for me, Not in the slightest.
I never felt the spark between Nash and Spencer, The two were worlds apart, and the author didn't make me believe that they could cross that barrier.
The story focused on many things: Spencer's bitter divorce and his ex wanting to reconcile maybe Nash's little sister being bullied and wanting to be independent Nash's dad and his surprise girlfriend.
There was hardly any steam, and the relationship took a backseat to family drama.
I liked the epilogue and the surprise romantic dinner Nash prepared, but at that point it was too little, too late.
That's right, Ariel no one wants a damn virgin anyway,

I didn't think this was a bad book, per se, but it just wasn't for me.
I thought the author did a good job of creating characters with depth and back story really flushing them out and making them feel messy and real.
Without question, this level of detail would have paid off in a longer novel, Unfortunately, in a book only slightly overpages, it seems like too much energy was expended on secondary characters and extraneous drama the baby mama could have stayed entirely off page, for instance, and the subplot with Ace's girlfriend could have been cut entirely.
And then there was the chemistry or lack thereof,
While I totally bought Nash and Spencer as a quick roadside hookup or pseudo vacation fling a la superstar temporarily slums it with a townie territory, I never felt like this couple was Meant To Be.
Part of that was definitely that I couldn't figure out what Nash got from his relationship with Spencer.
I mean, I fully understood Nash's draw for Spencer a faithful, familyoriented handyman with a wicked body and a better sense of playfulness! I'll take a double scoop of that in a waffle cone, please! But Spencer He was your stereotypical, selfabsorbed Hollywood type.
He called Bast and Tick friends, yet he never did anything for them or with them to back that sentiment up and I'm fairly certain Tick called him "Sir" more than Spencer.
And while he loathed the highhandedness of Peter's TV Buzz stunt, he sent his minions to practically kidnap Nash and bring him to Utah rather than fly to HIM or, oh, I don't
know.
. . pick up the phone and CALL him!
Even the cute epilogue couldn't redeem Spencer in my eyes.
Bottom line: I suppose this is okay for a romance novel, but in real life, this relationship would have fizzled out before the opening credits.
