Grab Thrill Of The Chase (City Shifters: The Pride, #1) Narrated By Layla Nash Viewable As Hardcover
good first
,
Its my first of this author and I thought it was cute! The idea sounded interesting to me so I started it as soon as I got it.
I thought the pace was very fast and Im not exactly a fan of instalove when the story doesnt last a long time, and I didnt think there were that many moments to convince me of this sudden love fest.
Which is why it felt so weird to see her suddenly gobut yeah,
The twist was unexpected, and part of me didnt know how to feel because of how much I felt for Logan.
I liked the brothers, the feel of it, the idea, I liked that, despite it hurting me, she hesitated and reacted so poorly toward a crazy situation.
It made it “normal”. To be honest though, I wouldnt have been as happy if her attitude consisted of majority of the story.
I dont find those kind of storylines entertaining or nice,
I didnt really enjoy the ending sex because it just seemed so different from the vibes being pushed, but thats me.
Ill probably check out another book from the series but I thought the writing was okay, even if the puttingtogether was weird for me.
gtBook review Thrill of the Chase
gtI am an independent reviewer, This book is thest in the City Sifters: The Pride series and ends in an HEA.
Logan is a lion shifter and alpha of his pack, He is worried about the future of his pack, due to a lack of mates, At dinner with his brothers, he ticks off the restaurants chef, Natalia, and realizes she is his mate.
There is a lot of importance to sharing a meal, or providing a meal for ones mate, that immediately attracts the pack to Natalia.
gtLogan does seem a little high handed, He buys the restaurant and then realizes the previous owner was involved in some illegal deals that place Natalia in trouble.
The alpha in Logan and his brothers really comes to the fore as Natalia is attacked.
There is a scene where Natalia and Logan have dinner, Each of the brothers come to serve a course and pledge their loyalty to Natalia, This scene is so sweet, In this reality, humans do not know that shifters exist, It is quite ironic to realize that Natalia is friends with wolf shifters,
gt The book is appropriate for an adult audience, I am giving the bookstars, The brothers are all unique and interesting, The situation that Logan saved Natalia from was very suspenseful, This is definitely a pride Id love to read more about,
FREE on Amazon today! Great read, Love those shifters. Logan is the head of the Chase Lion Pride and has some awesome brothers, The pride is dying out and needs to breathe new life into it with mates and babies.
So fat that has not happened, He meets Natalia, the Chef at a very popular restaurant he and his brothers go to one night after he sends his steak back twice saying it is not cooked right.
Natalia and he clash over it and she kicks him out of the restaurant, He ends up buying it and having her come to his home to prepare a meal for him and his brothers.
A fun evening ensues and those feelings start developing quickly, Natalia has no idea he is a Lion and finds out the hard way when he saves her from being attacked one night.
She is scared and having trouble coming to terms with it though she cares about Logan very much.
It is a really quick read and very well done, Sex scenes but not overdone and a good story, Have already purchased others in the series and am read to get the rest of the brothers and their Wolf friends stories too.
.
Started out good enough, A little typical in the descriptions, obsession with looks, bodies, and can't think beyond their groins.
.
But she was strong, and he was mostly real, likeable,
Then it got silly, In allowing her to be vulnerable, wounded, she just became weak and annoying,
While he got to stay in character, hers completely changed,
There were some good reasons, but it just didn't fit, You would have to believe one of the personalities was a lie,
More, she treats him pretty poorly, but he's required to chase after, and continually earn her regard.
I'm all for a guy having to do his fair share, but only that much.
Otherwise I lose respect.
More, other than a few moments at the beginning, I can't figure out what draws her to him, besides physical desire.
The whole thing happens way too fast, with no real depth to either the story or their relationship.
Writing so shallow I ripped through it in a few hours, no effort, and I figure I will forget it just as quickly.
Sad, it started with so much potential, and an interesting cast of characters, I saw a lot of less than positive reviews on this story, but I gave it a try, and was hooked right away.
It kept me interesting all along the way! The ending, maybe a little flat, But overall, I really liked it, Weak characters, but a fun enough quickie, Shifting sounds fucking awful in this "world" and it doesn't really play much of a role in this story.
It's just used as a reason for the h to refuse the H for a while.
I guess afterbooks of her I liked my expectations were a bit high, Unfortunately this book defies all of them, It's the bottom of the barrel of PNR, No plot, no characters worth of this name, instalove so quick that it surprises The Flash.
Grating, unbelievable and stupid, A unholy trilogy that was unexpected after the other books,
After a "I've known youdays but I love you", "he's a monster who kills people but who cares the morning after let's have sex", at the "they lie to me so he can get me to dinner, no problem" moment I wanted to thrown up.
At the end I thought throwing out the book was fairer, At least to me. .
I might buy the sequel for the series I started, but clearly buying her back titles isn't wise.
I enjoy reading about shifters, but have started steering clear of all books with naked man chests on the cover.
Thrill of the Chase is basically a runofthemill paranormal romance complete with naked man chest, And yet, it hit all the buttons just right, didn't get bogged down in long gratuitous sex scenes, was welledited, and pretty much redeemed the genre.
I especially appreciated how the author didn't try to pad out the book to twice its length, which spurred me on to download book two immediately.
Actually, I probably should download book three as well to have on hand just in case.
THE REVIEW
Why this book
A book about a lion shapshifter, hell yeah im going to read it!
What I thought
I'm sad to say this book disappointed me.
First off he only changes into the lion twice plus everything happened way too fast, They only knew eachother for a few days and they're already saying "I love you" and are talking about moving in together.
When she didn't even like him
for the first couple of days, Sorry but that was almost as bad as instalove, I just wanted more!!! I wanted a slow burn relationship, I didn't want the conflicts to be fixed so easily.
I wanted some damn character development! Unfortunately I got none of that from this book, which is sad since this book had great potential.
Overall it was an ok read, but it was nothing special,
. I'm normally very stingy with mystars, a book has to keep me so completely into the story that there is not a moment where I sit back and think.
. . I'd have done that differently, or a woman/man would not react/do/say that, Basically it has to make me believe it within the realm of that world, Which is not easy, because while the paranormal bits are fiction, a human being is not, and human's react to things in a certain way.
Layla Nash kept the human reactions and emotions in this realistic, so much so I sat up all night reading and didn't even think about stopping.
So I'm off to read the next in the series and hoping that all the things I loved about this story is in that one too.
Okay this is a new author for me and I did like her storyline however there were a lot of holes in her story which cause some of it to fall flat.
. . For example the author fail to properly introduce her characters, and then her run of subject changes didn't flow well from paragraph to paragraph or from the protagonist's POVs.
With these few shortcomings made the story feel rushed with a lack of passion for the two main characters.
So sad because this could've been a really good read,
I love our hero Logan, which he is the true epitome of a alpha male/Lion.
He did damn there anything in his power to win our heroine over, With his brothers being his wings men they did help him to accomplished this most difficult task.
Now our heroine Natalia, kinda worked my last nerve with her indecisiveness and just being a plain old scaredycat no pun intended.
I'm glad she finally got the balls to take a leap of faith and trust the man to love her and give her everything she would ever need or want.
If I had to describe Logan and Natalia story with a song it would be: "Happy" by Surface
Overall
.
A Okay Read.
