gave this a soso rating because reading it was a soso experience, Although it is highly informative, it reads much like a high school research paper including all the grammatical errors one would expect in such.
I also didnt require all the “naughty words” to be “bleeped” out with asterisks, Im an adult, and I dont require parental supervision, I learned a lot about the prison, so thats a point in the books favor, I didnt see the point in including tangential information about the location of Reynolds Memorial Hospital close to the prison when the author mysteriously chose to omit the distance the inmate was transported all the way to the Ohio Valley Mall !.


Overall, this needed a good editor, The West Virginia Penitentiary was a harsh environment, It took a special person to work there, This book describes one such person, Her name is Maggie Gray, The book takes the reader into the prison and allows them to see what it was like to be a Correctional Officer in one of the most violent prisons.
