to illustrate episodes from the life of Christ, Ok, so it's a coffee table book, but I am still happy to say I read it all, I saw these photos for years and it was nice to learn the back story behind them, I think this is a great gift to anyone who believes in Christ, It is beautiful and enjoyable as a work or art and as a testimony of the Savior of the World, But my favorite part was the preface, where the artist shares his story of learning to consecrate his talents to the Lord, I recommend it to all Christian artists of any kind, This is worth your time, Incredible photography coupled with scriptures and explanations, The Preface is a must read! Beautiful! I don't see how it could be done better, It is perfect! The boys and I were in Saint George,Utah over Christmas break and we went to the temple visitor's center with my mom, These pictures were on exhibit there, It was interesting. Different. I wasn't prepared for the images, and it was all photography, A few pictures really captured my attention and my emotions, It wasn't a real slow, ponderous walk as we had the boys with us, and it was with mixed emotions that we left the gallery, I didn't feel right about someone attempting to portray the Savior while in Gethsemane, I didn't know how I felt about the crucifixion pictures until we sang "Behold the Great Redeemer Died" in sacrament and I couldn't get those images out of my head.
I love "Husband" and "The First Stone" and the baptism pictures, I love Christ walking on the water and "Road to Emmaus" I like the one of Christ and the little boy who is actually Mark's son, The picture "Judas" is exceptionally emotional, Wow. You can literally feel his misery in the bottom of your gut,
The Preface of the book shed light on the whole project and there is an explanation for each picture at the end of the book which is also enlightening.
While I enjoyed the images of this book, overall I enjoyed the images of Mark Mabry's "Another Testament Reflections of Christ" much more because of the story it tells of the Nephite people and their experience with Christ's visit.
This is also available on DVD, The images are set to music which, of course, only adds to the experience, some of the most beautiful photography I've ever scene! My parents got Mike and I this book for Christmas, I actually had the opportunity to see these photographs at the Joseph Smith Memorial building in downtown Salt Lake City while I was visiting there in October, I'm speechless at how amazing these photographs are and
the overwhelming emotions they bring as I turn each page to discover another moment from Christ's life depicted in these photographs.
If you've seen these you know what I'm talking about, . . if you haven't you need to stop by my house and take a look at them in my book! Thanks Mom and Dad! beautiful pictures! Thanks Carie! I loved these pictures, specially since I'm into photography.
It made me feel like those could have been actual pictures from back when Jesus was around, Loved it! Very inspirational. Read the Forward by the author to get the real feel of the pictures, Amazing photography! What a TRUE artist using his talents to testify of the Savior, This book has a special spirit and I loved reading about how he was "purified" by changing simple things in his life like stopped drinking Monster drinks, changed his music selection, etc.
to prepare for this work, Very lovely, the story about the process was very compelling, Beautiful pictures accompanied by short, simple scriptures, A wonderful read. This is a musthave coffee table book for every Christian, The photographs are incredibly moving,
For the Christmas season, we get this amazing photographic montage of Christ's ministry, The images of Mark's work are breathtaking, In the introduction, Gary tells us how he came to create these miraculous, soulstirring images and at the back of the book, he describes each photograph and how each came to be and the comments from the individuals he used as to their feelings.
Gary has music to go with this book and his exhibit is on display throughout the country, This is a book that would make a great coffee table book,
This is a beautiful book, My kids also enjoyed it, This was mostly a book of photograghs, The backstory of the author was the best part, BEAUTIFUL!
Such an original idea, . . executed perfectly. The photography is, while not always technically perfection which he notes himself, inspiring,
And his writing is even interesting, go figure! I loved the message, the presentation of the photos and the warm feeling I received while reading, A must read for everyone! This is a beautiful compilation of photographs by Mark Mabry chronicling the life of Christ, It has a very unique feel to it in that the look is as magnificent as grand paintings yet they are photographs, They convey such a sense of humility, and humanness, The photographs really bring "Christ" to life, helping me remember that he is a real person, he did walk the earth, and he is our brother as well as our Savior.
Make sure to read the notes in the back explaining how Mark achieved many of his desired effects, It's a phonto book, so not much to really read, But the photos are amazing, It's a fantastic Christmas gift at least I think so, Mark Mabry does a beautiful job at portraying the Savior's life, I loved the spirit I felt as I flipped through these photos, Loved it. This firstever book of photography showing more than twentyfive scenes of the life of Christ is sure to drive store traffic this holiday season, From the Nativity to His miracles to His deatha nd resurrection, these unique portrayals, accompanied by New Testament scripture, offer a powerful witness of the Lord Jesus Christ, .
