Grasp Desert Sky Sketched By Ellie Green Depicted In Electronic Format
Sweet Story
Grace and Ari were sweet characters that really made this story a great experience.
The storyline was very enjoyable and very descriptive of the countryside that it took place in.
The fact that this story also addressed two serious disabilities, cancer and an amputation was significant.
Overall a great read. School Teacher , Ranching, Australia I received an advance review copy for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
It's been a bit of time since my last FF read, and Desert Sky was such a breath of fresh air!
I enjoyed reading this book so much and I liked both of Grace and Ari's personalities! Even though both of them were hurt in the past, both of them were kickass and just amazing! I loved these two women and no one of them made me want to punch a wall which is a plus these days.
I found myself really impressed with the details and the amount of feelings in this book.
I loved their slowburn relationship from the start and the softness and toughness I felt when reading them.
This was a short sweet story and it is highly recommended,
When someone tells me a book is set in the Outback I am immediately interested.
The Outback is such an interesting place,
This story mostly takes place on a cattle station hundreds of kilometres from Mount Isa.
A setting I know rather well, not so much in size of this cattle station, but I did spend a couple months in a similar setting.
As I am familiar with the setting I can say the way the author wrote about it rings true.
There are so many small things that even made me go “oh yeah thats true, I remember that”.
At home I am a true city dweller, but the months in the Outback were so fun and enriching, even when you have so little.
Sorry, back to the book, Its written in third person POV with alternating chapters of both of our mains, Ari and Grace.
I find both a bit wishywashy and hard to follow at time, their thinking patterns are just a bit weird.
Must be all the sunshine, I think they are pretty well matched, but I do feel its all a tad superficial, might be the age Not sure, being mid twenties it could be age appropriate but also a bit on the juvenile side of things.
The writing is easy to read, the setting is well done and I enjoyed myself reading this book.
What more could you ask for This is a lovely read about Ari who lives on an outback station in Australia.
She meets Grace who comes to teach the children on the station,
It is a well written book, good romance, with no aghast and moves nicely along.
Desert Sky is my first introduction to writer Ellie Green and I am very happy we met.
I enjoy stories set in Australia just that little bit more for some reason and having this one in the seemingly endless outback added to my reading pleasure.
Living in Canada, the excessive heat and droughts of Australia feel very foreign to me, As the cold and lengthy winters create rugged Canadians, the weather produces unknown depths of strength in the Aussies.
Their toughness and never give up attitude drives their country and citizens,
Desert Sky gives us two very strong women who have come through the worst events in their lives.
Grace has one more exam to pass before she is a full fledged teacher, Cancer has affected her life dramatically and will always be hanging over her head, Ari works on a ranch in the outback for a family who accepts her unconditionally unlike her father who disowned her when she came out.
I like the serendipity of the situation which brings Grace into Aris world, It felt very real and possible, Grace and Ari are very likeable main characters as well, The writing is very solid and quickly brings you into the story, And the setting is an added bonus, Greens description of the landscape gives voice to the solitude and isolation of the uniquely beautiful outback ranch.
Time seems to slow down when we see the friendship turn into love between Ari and Grace.
Desert Sky is a magical love story well worth the read,
An ARC was given to me by BookSirens for an honest review,
The second book I'm reading by Ms, Green.
This is a slow burn romance set in the Australian outback, Ari is a lonely ranch hand stuck with unfulfilled dreams and hopes and Grace a rookie teacher wants independence from home and to hopefully spread her wings.
Due to unusual circumstances, the two meet and as before the author's writing, descriptions and storyline including horses hooked and pulled me in.
I was right there with open skies and vast landscapes with scrub and dust, The plot is cleverly interlaced with touches of angst, the need for acceptance and fear regarding the unknown in a relationship plus a supporting cast that is well fleshed out.
The author's inclusion of learning and physical disabilities beautifully handled,
A perfect book cover, slow romance and horses encouraged me to read through to the end I easily recommend this book withstars.
I rec'd a copy through Booksprout and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Aussie themed Kindle Unlimited lesfic romance Yes please!
I think
a lot of people on my feed will like this, with the setting being on a cattle station in outback Queensland Australia!
I found myself really impressed with the details and also nuances for the setting, but also with regards to the MC's.
Ari,, is a hard worker on the cattle station, that is far away from the nearest town.
She loves the life out there, and loves her horses and her dog, but does find it hard to meet women as an out and proud semibutch lesbian.
When her boss needs a teacher aka governess for his twin daughters she ends up meeting Grace, and the friendship forming is fast but so is the attraction.
Grace is a doll, she has been through a lot in life, despite being, and her mother is a bit over protective of her because of a past illness, and a current slight disability that can affect her balance, but mostly affects' her confidence.
She is more femme. Ari has a bit of a past too, with her father and his lack of acceptance, and her trying to find a place for herself.
Again those details just added to the whole design of the characters to make them real and sympathetic.
The relationship itself is fairly slow burn, and Grace has a bit of head angsting about her sexuality, since she had never had a relationship with anyone before.
But she's open to it, but what is uncertain is her position at the station, and if she wants to stay there, or go back to her hometown where she has an offer with a proper school.
Ari similarly feels the stir of wanting to move on, and look at her options beyond the station, yet is scared to change or move forward while still feeling a lot of attraction for Grace.
My only complaint is the typical black moment of separation and inevitable heartache that comes about, which has them pinning for each other.
It wasn't as contrived as others I've seen, it didn't affect the relationship negatively or the carefactor each had, but it was very formulaic.
But a fun comfortable and casual read that was fairly quick and entertaining, Check it out! Love under the Wide, Open Sky
Grace and Ari meet at a race horse track where a tragedy leaves the pair with a horse.
Their lives become intertwined when Grace decides to take a job as a teacher for Aris boss kids.
As the weeks progress the two become quite close but when their desires for life dont match up, will heartbreak the only thing left
This is a sweet and fast book that is perfect for a sunny afternoon sitting on the patio, drinking iced tea.
but its good everywhere else too lol I enjoy Ms Greens laid back, easy to read style.
Grace has finally faced fear and wants so much more out of life than she has had.
Ari is more reluctant, she has become settled and cant see there is more out there.
There is enough emotion in this story to make you tear up a time or three, turn you on a bit and make you smile contentedly with the picture perfect ending.
It was a fun read that I can see myself revisiting,
Ari has broken the unbreakable rule: dont fall for your straight best friend,
Jillaroo, Ari, loves her life on an isolated Outback Station, The only downside When the nearest neighbour is hundreds of kilometres away, its hard to date.
Newly qualified teacher, Grace, cant wait to start a life away the town where shes only known for one thing.
Travelling across the country to take a job as a governess is about as far as she can get.
Grace and Ari are easy friends, spending their time riding horses, swimming in waterholes and watching their favourite movies late into the night.
But Aris feelings begin to extend beyond friendship, Ari has a crush, no matter how much she tries to talk herself out of it.
What she doesnt know is Grace is harbouring feelings of her own, And in close confines, the attraction is becoming difficult to ignore,
Their connection is strong, but if they want to build a relationship, they will need to move beyond the shadows of the past.
Can they find a way to each others hearts I liked the idea of the story and I really liked the characters.
It was off to a great start and I really liked the way the story progressed.
It was easy to love the characters and just as easy to understand their reasons for acting the way they did.
The only thing that seems to be a recurring theme is a specific structure that made it a bit "basic" for the lack of a better word given how short it was.
I wish there had been more depth to the story to keep it from drifting off into feeling a little too flat.
However, definitely a nice little story that was a lovely read : I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Desert Sky is a book I didn't really expect to like, This mainly came down to the fact that I don't live in Australia and did not understand many of the locations or the terminology.
But after getting past that I found that I was absorbed by the characters and was able to enjoy the story being told.
Ari is a really likeable character and it was really interesting to see Grace and her dynamic.
While not particularly long it is still an enjoyable read and I appreciate the fleshed out characters and locations.
I recommend this book if you are interested and a not so typical love story and have a few days to read it.
This was a short sweet story that could have expanded into much more,
I'm sure you have read the synopsis so I won't repeat the story line,
First I would have more info about the desert and how the people survive and coup with this wilderness.
Where were the floods, the varmits, the predators of the cattle and snake bites,
Second I think the story should have included more about Graces amputated leg, How was Ari different about it Did she help her with it What did they do with it while making love I'm not sure why it was included if they didn't talk about it much.
Nice story with predictable ending,
