really loved the characters of Byron and Kat, and the romance did not disappoint, This series is amazing for chemistry, But I was expecting more of a conclusion, Such as the destruction of the hunters, Maybe it will be followed up in the spinoff sitelinkKings series, I already read The Vampire King but it was a long time ago and now I feel like I should reread it, There were probably things I didnt catch, and some familiar characters,
I think sitelinkThe Spell was probably my favourite of the series, I still really enjoyed this but there were so many characters it was a little hard to keep track of everyone, And who was the vampire with the multicoloured eyes These books are very action packed with some seriously bad villains, I look forward to reading more from sitelinkHeather KilloughWalden, The Hunt is the final book in The Big Bad Wolf series and for me, its the most intense of them all, Why Because Byron is alive! We learned at the end of The Spell that he was being held prisoner by the vampire princess, But his brother Lucas and the other werewolves dont know this, After spending fifty years as a captive, Byron finally gets his shot at freedom and in the midst of his escape he encounters a dormant his intended mate, Sounds great right Freedom Check, Dormant mate Check. Mates occupation Hunter. Thats a big WTF moment for Byron and its made worse when he realizes that he is why she became a Hunter and he is her intended target, Hunter or not, Byron intends to claim his mate because after spending the last fifty years being tortured, he needs something to live for so he sets out to prove to her that her reason for targeting him is false and that they are meant to be together.
Kat is one of the best Hunters in the organization despite it being a maledominated group, But when she learns the true reason behind her success, that her need for revenge is directed at the wrong being, and that nearly everything she has been taught about werewolves is wrong, she is unsure of what to do.
That she finds herself drawn to Byron despite her distrust just serves to confuse her more, And when the Hunter becomes a prisoner of the organization she has worked for for over a decadewell all bets are off, As if the action that seems to accompany Kat and Byron are not enough, everything ramps up even more once Lucas learns that his brother is alive and the werewolves join in the race against the warlock king and the Hunters to find Byron and Kat.
KilloughWalden does a wonderful job of weaving the series storylines with the relationship that develops between Kat and Byron, while at the same time laying the foundation for the spinoff series The Kings.
I liked that despite Byrons history, the author made him fight for his mate even against herself, Of course once Kat reconciles her memories and teachings with the truth and joins with Byron, they become a force to be reckoned with, Add to that the secret that is revealed about the female werewolves and how they manage to break the curse, well I remained glued to my Kindle despite this being a reread.
I loved The Hunt because not only did the author keep the tension and suspense level high, but she also managed to make me laugh and make me cry.
The Hunt was an excellent ending for The Big Bad Wolf series and Im looking forward to reading The Kings series soon only the first two books of which are rereads.
I reviewed my personal ebook copy of this book,
ed by Angela at Crystal's Many ers!
,stars!!!
Hopefully, the ending is a leadoff to a next book,
Recommend you start off with bookof the series, or you won't know much about all of the characters that show up in this story, The Hunt is the fourth book in Heather KilloughWaldens Big Bad Wolf series, In these novels, we see a captivating world of werewolves and their mates called dormants dormants because their wolf gene is “dormant” until they find their mate with which to bond.
There is Hunters humans sworn to kill werewolves, witches and Akyri magical demon beings who couple with black magic warlocks to produce offspring vampires,
The Plot as written by Heather, Byron Caige has been a prisoner for the last fifty years of his supernaturally long life, Just when he gives up hope of ever knowing the taste of freedom again, he is unwittingly rescued by the very same woman who only wants to see him dead.
Katherine Dare Kat is smart, fast, strong and beautiful but unfortunately she's a Hunter, and she's convinced that Byron murdered her father twenty years ago, She's also Byron's dormant. As supernatural war breaks out amongst the otherworldly of Earth and threatens the existence of entire races, Kat is faced with a terrible decision, Should she give up her cause and believe Caige when he professes his innocence Or should she fight him and possibly avenge her father's taken life even while she forfeits her own
This novel is filled with lots of wellwritten conflict, gripping action and suspense.
Paired nicely with a blend of characters that are well defined and identifiable,
Kats inner conflict is credible in that you can rationalize how a person can be driven to avenge her fathers death after witnessing what she did as a child.
I particularly admired Kat for being a strongwilled woman that did what she thought was right without seeking approval from her mate, Byron seemed to appreciate that about her which is a refreshing change from other werewolf shorelines where that would be an impossibility,
I would have expected Byron to be a bit more crazed given the fact that he had been a captive foryears by a spoiled and insane vampire princess.
It was great to see characters of past novels brought back the much loved seer Lily, healer Dannai and her mate Lucas, who happens to be Byrons brother.
And of course Jason the warlock who caused so much trouble in the last novel,
Kat and Byrons romantic connection is flawless, Easy yet powerful. Effortless yet intense. And most important for readers entrancing,
There are plots among plots and loose ends that just cry out for another novel, I am more than eager to read more,
I forgot to say thatpeople on Amazon have reviewed it so far and all have given itstars
This was a truly inspiring story.
A great tale of vengeance, redemption and the power of love! I hope it is not the last in the series, I see that it could be, but I really want Jessie and Imani and even Jason to get their own stories!
Katherine Dare's father was murdered when she wasyears old.
She finds him in a pool of blood, with a werewolf standing over him, She becomes a hunter. Yet, as fate would have it, she is a dormant, a destined mate for an alpha werewolf, and precious to the werewolf community, So, for overyears she hunts and kills werewolves, looking for the one with the grey eyes who killed her father, When she finally finds him, all the rules change, She discovers he was not her father's murderer and she has been seeking revenge on an innocent population for years,
Byron Caige is an alpha werewolf, he was captured by the vampire princessyears ago and presumed dead, When he finally escapes it is to run smack dab into his destined mate, Who wants to kill him! ALong with the warlock king , the vampires and the hunters, who also want him dead, Maybe he was better off a captive This book did not disappoint at all I really liked Katherine and the way her character grew in this novel, she went from killing the race to saving the race at the end.
Byron was also a well developed character, I found it funny that once he is finally free after being held prisoner foryears he finds his mate right away what luck.
Katherine had a lot going on in this book she was a hunter but the only she became one was to kill the wolf who killed her father all other wolves she didn't care for, but for reasons she didn't understand they kept coming after her.
Once she found the wolf who killed her father Byron she was faltering she didn't want to kill him but she knew she had to for her father, but Byron tells her it wasn't him and she is fighting with herself wether or not to believe it.
Then Byron is explaining to her that she is a dormant and she can't help but believe him with everything that has happened to her in her life, and she relizes she is falling for Byron.
I think the way Byron handled it all was amazing he never pushed her and I think what he went through while being held prisoner really helped him be gentle because he didn't want to do anything to scare her or hurt her.
You'd think that after being held foryears it would have some sort of effect on Byron but it really didn't if anything I would say he has a gentle soul lol but if anyone lays a hand on his mate WATCH OUT! It tookmagic users to hold him down and he was still able to get free thats some strength and all because a man touched his mate.
I was a little distracted while reading this book, If I LOVED it, I am not so easily distracted, Since it brought back many previous characters, and I have readbooks since the last one, I had a little difficulty remembering who was who, But then I remembered . I had trouble with that when I read the firstalso, St. Claire amp St. James Charlie and Dannyall easy names to confuse, She brought back all the old characters, and I just couldn't remember the backstories enough to really get into this book, I found myself trying to remember connections and looking back at who was who, I liked it, but not as much as the first three, possibly because I didn't read it with the others, Many authors give a backstory when writing a new book in a series, This one didn't seem to do enough of that, All in all though, I highly recommend the series,
Byron Caige has been a prisoner for the last fifty years of his supernaturally long life, Just when he gives up hope of ever knowing the taste of freedom again, he is unwittingly rescued by the very same woman who only wants to see him dead.
Katherine Dare Kat is smart, fast, strong and beautiful but unfortunately shes a Hunter, and shes convinced that Byron murdered her father twenty years ago,
Shes also Byrons dormant,
As supernatural war breaks out amongst the otherworldly of Earth and threatens the existence of entire races, Kat is faced with a terrible decision, Should she give up her cause and believe Caige when he professes his innocence Or should she fight him and possibly avenge her fathers taken life even while she forfeits her own
The Hunt is the fourth book in the New York Times bestselling paranormal romance Big Bad Wolf series by Heather KilloughWalden.
For the last fifty years, Byron Caige has been a prisoner of a mad vampire, Just when he is about to give up hope of ever knowing the taste of freedom again, he is unwittingly rescued by the very same woman who wants him dead.
Katherine DareKatis smart, fast, strong, and beautifulbut, unfortunately, she's a Hunter, and she's convinced that Byron murdered her father twenty years ago, She's also Byron's dormant. In a twist of fate, they will need to work together in order to survive the very captors that not only killed her dad but that also kept him caged for five decades.
Except, while she is struggling with her duties as a hunter and her
attraction to the gorgeous wolf, Byron is learning to trust her and to fall in love.
It will be a close call between alliances and the truth, but will love win in the end I loved Byron and wanted him to have his HEA from the start.
Kat is pretty powerful and when these two find their pack, nothing will keep them apart or their enemies untouched, Another actionpacked paranormal romance by Heather KilloughWalden, Kat and Byron were two of the most enjoyable characters of this series for me, I loved her courage. I loved Byron's determination. Their love story fell perfectly into the destiny of the werewolves that are the backbone of an exciting series overall,
I felt like this is a wrap for the wolves, Finally the curse I never understood had an origin and a means to be broken, Kat, as a hunter, had contributed to the closely approaching extinction of werewolves, She believed that Byron had killed her father and only living relative when she was a kid, That belief changed the course of her life and made her a determined killer, Byron was being held prisoner for fifty years by a twisted vampire princess totally unaware that the little girl he met over her father's body would grow into his hunter.
The price of Byron's freedom was initially sweetened by finding the huntress and realizing she is his mate and a dormant wolf, Of course, Kat was not on the same page so they clashed, The process of them finding the truth of each other also led them to the truth of the curse,
Of course, the band got back together, Everybody showed up by the time it was over, I was shocked I knew who everybody was and what good or bad deeds they had left over from previous books, As expected, everyone worked together, did some growling, and stressed out over their mates, Cute wolves.
I had read the first book of Roman sitelinkThe Vampire King without having finished this series which was not so good an idea, I didn't understand how closely the series were connected, I did not enjoy that book as much because I didn't have the full picture of the vampires, I am going to correct that by rereading and going on to whatever is next for the kings, The Big Bad Wolf was such a fun series, I am so glad I took a chance on this series, it has been a wild ride, .
