Avail Yourself The Dog Cancer Survival Guide: Full Spectrum Treatments To Optimize Your Dogs Life Quality And Longevity Articulated By Demian Dressler Distributed In Hardcover
It took me awhile to get through this nothing to do with the book, aside from being sad to read/think about my dog's cancer, Because of where we were in my dog's journey when I got the book, I did not read the book in order, I can see how the order of the book makes sense, but when you're on the verge of starting the chemo treatments, it becomes more pressing to read about that first.
The book is easy enough to jump around as needed, I appreciate the authors' openness about their approach to the book, and easy to understand manner, At no point do they give the impression that there is only one "right" way to treat your dog's cancer, Having this wealth of information makes us more confident in making decisions that we feel are in our pup's best interest,
Throughout the months of reading this book, I also subscribed to other sources of cancer information from the authors/publishers, It is truly empowering to have so much information at our fingertips,
The two things that I wish had been covered:more about cancer prevention, It's hinted at in an early chapter plus an appendix, I'm sure that it could easily be a book of it's own, but as we fight one cancer we want want to prevent another dog from getting cancer.
At a minimum, it would be good to know what recommendations in this book would not be appropriate for a healthy dog beyond the obvious,I'd like to know more about the "what's after" the traditional treatments, For instance, my dog is undergoingrounds of chemo everyweeks, I'd like to have a better idea of what comes after, I know that may be challenging to generalize, but having a sense of paths or options would better prepare us for the conversation with our oncologist when the treatments come to a close.
Nobody would WANT to read this book, obviously, but if you're in the unfortunate position of needing it, there is really no better allaround resource to be found.
Many websites and blogs dealing with cancer in dogs tend to take a very partisan view either they're in support of Western methods like chemotherapy and won't even consider that homeopathy could have something to offer a dog, or vice versa.
Not this book. While acknowledging that chemotherapy and surgery are often the best chances we have to give our dogs a long survival time, the authors also go over supplements and dietary changes that can help improve quality of life.
The one thing I didn't like was the overpromotion of Dr, Dressler's Apocaps dog supplement in the supplements chapter, and the glowing Amazon reviews included there would have been better if the mention of this product had been limited to one paragraph.
But I can overlook this because there really is not a better guide than this to navigating canine cancer, I really wish I didn't need to read this book, but am very glad this helpful resource is available! I have been following the Facebook page for updated articles too.
I am hoping the information in this book will help ease the Canine Cancer journey for my family and my beautiful puppy, A must read if your dog is currently battling cancer, it was quite interesting book considering cancer in dogs, but despite its complex nature I had strange feeling that it was more about owner approach and budget isssue, then well being of the animal.
Anyway it is very helpfull when cancer hit home and your dog needs help on many levels, Great book, but no bargain here! Their price on a USED copy is more than the author's price for a brand new one!! Go to the author's site at sitelink dogcancerblog. com/ to buy it for,!
I really wish I didn't have to read this book, but here we are, I lost my Sparky to a terminal cancer in, so I was devastated to learn that my Coco had mammary cancer, Since this type of cancer is different from the one Sparky had, I
felt like I needed to do my research before Coco's first appointment with the oncologist.
I definitely feel better prepared and have an idea of what to expect and possible outcomes, The chapters on nutrition and natural supplements were very helpful, and I have printed off information to discuss with the oncologist, With Sparky's cancer there was no chance of fighting it, Coco's is different, and I feel like this book has given me hope that we can beat this, Helpful This book provides a really wide angle view of dog cancer and includes everything from the science behind cancer, ways to deal with the emotional trauma of diagnosis, to the skinny on chemo and radiation, and everything inbetween.
Dr. Dressler and Dr. Ettinger also discuss natural and holistic treatments that have shown some promise in studies, including changes of diet, nutraceuticals, supplements and holistic medicine,
While I'm not thrilled that I needed to read this book, I found it very helpful on many levels, Throw away all your preconceived notions of dog cancer and cancer treatments and read this book with an open mind if your dog is diagnosed with any type of cancer.
This is a gigantic book and I only read a very small portion of it, but it is an outstanding effort and very informative for someone like me who was suffering with a dog who had terminal cancer.
The book addresses just about everything and not all of it applied to my dog or me, I dont recommend reading it cover to cover, but picking and choosing certain chapters or passages that you are interested in, J Crossley
This is an awesome guide for dog cancer, It is very thorough, and i found it extremely helpful when dealing with cancer in my beloved Ramsey, I would highly recommend this book if you are facing canine cancer, Excellent information if you are dealing with a pet that has cancer, Absolute mustread for anyone who has a dog that has been diagnosed, or may be diagnosed, with cancer, I cannot stress how helpful this book has been! There are SO many things you can do to help your dog fight cancer and improve his quality of life.
This book has enabled me to confidently make decisions regarding my dog's treatment and to be proactive in doing everything I can on my end, This was my lifeline when Sadie was going through cancer, part of her story is actually in the newest addition, Tons of info. Almost too much. My big issue was the format, I absolutely hate all the extra info boxes on each page, Especially when there is a half page of box info and a half page of the actual book, And neither end in a full sentence! Do I turn the page Or read the second half of the page and then turn to finish two incomplete sentences My brain doesnt work like that.
Very informative and helpful, If your dog has cancer, you need this book, No matter what you've heard, there are always steps you can take to help your dog fight and even beat cancer,
