Collect Sixteen, So In Love With You Penned By Ophelia - Marie Flowers Issued As Textbook
So In Love With You, by Ophelia Marie Flowers is a shortpage collection of poetry written when the author was sixteen, As you read, you will see just what the title meansthis young woman is deeply in love with her Creator,
The poems are honest, heartfelt observations and reflections from the perspective of a young Christian as she goes through the struggles and joys of life,
Some of the poems were contemplative in nature, looking at the world through young, wondering, eyes others looked back on the past, and noted God's faithfulness despite her own frailties and failures.
Over and over again they illustrate and affirm God's goodness and our utter need,
Not usually one to read much poetry the type that groans when he comes across a long poem or song in LotR and struggles to read through it, I wasn't sure how I would like this book, though I knew I liked the author's poetry already.
I quickly found I was glad I'd picked it up,
As a Christian, my faith has been strengthened, and I have been gently, but bluntly, challenged, Challenged to look at the world as it is, with new eyes, challenged to remember Who is holding me, and Who I answer to, Challenged to admit my own weaknesses and needs,
Though theoretically I could have read the whole book in a few hours, I couldn't bring myself to read more than a few poems at a time, so I could savor each better than I might if I simply read straight through.
I could easily read this book again and will, soon, no doubt,
Some lines sound a little rough to me, but not many, and I think some of these are just myself being unused to poetry though some were more likely mistakes.
But overall the collection is very readable and rereadable, encouraging,
faithbuilding, and convicting, An awesome work, especially considering it is the author's first published project,
Writing:/Personal and intimate, written in first person at least most of the poems were written this way, . . I can't think of any that weren't, It is like reading a journal or personal account,
Themes/Subject matter:/Rich truths are explored, hinted at, and illustrated throughout, Honest to a lethal level, I don't suggest reading too much at once lest you get overwhelmed if you're like me, which probably a lot of you aren't, but anyway.
Overall:/A solid work with cohesive themes and skilful craft, something any Christian would benefit from reading, and something I think most honest people would consider a good collection of poems and thoughts, even if they have a different worldview.
