Grab Myst: The Book Of Atrus - A Graphic Novel Designed By Heather Larkin Edition
this! I loved the sitelinkThe Book of Atrus as a kid, and to see it in graphic novel form makes me so excited, Larkin's done a great job at capturing the emotion in the book, especially translating a novel that takes place so much in Atrus's head into a form that doesn't rely at all on interior monologues.
Can't wait to read the rest this edition is only the beginning! Alone in the middle of a vast desert, Atrus lives a simple life with his grandmother.
She excites him with stories about the Dni, a great civilization that collapsed long ago, Atrus longs to know more about the Dni, and his own past, than his grandmother will say, When a visitor enters their world and offers to take Atrus to Dni, everything hes been taught will come into question,
A fresh graphic adaptation of the novel, “Myst The Book of Atrus” by Rand and Robyn Miller with David Wingrove, telling the story behind the hit video game MYST.
This printed version comes with exclusive content including chapter heading illustrations and a thirteenpage bonus chapter not found online, Myst: The Book of Atrus is one of my alltime favorite novels, so when I heard about Heather Larkin's graphic novel based on the story my expectations were set very high.
And this book truly delivered,
The thing the graphic novel captures better than the book is the innocence of Atrus, Atrus is shown to
be an avid learner just like in the book, but there's a deep longing in the panels when Anna is telling him about his history that surpasses the written word.
Also, Heather's cinematic touch to her art really helps to open up the world inside the page, which is not an easy task when doing these in black and white.
After reading part one, I'm definitely excited to see this novel series continue, I can wholeheartedly guarantee this book will have a place on my shelf for many years to come,
out ofstars, This is a wonderful comic based on a book I love, The art style is compelling and it's roughness really fits the general theme and locations of the story mainly a rocky desert, in this first volume, Heather Larkin lends a cinematic style to the narration and while yes, there are differences between the comic and the book, none of it goes against the spirit of the original tale.
such a beautiful graphic novel : i feel so lucky to have discovered it!! myst means so much to me, and hannah larkin did an absolutely beautiful job adapting the book of atrus!! her love of the characters and the story are evident in every single drawing.
this book enhances so many emotional moments that are brushed over a bit in the original book every choice larkin made elevated the story, im beyond thankful to see flame amp atrus amp annas home come to life through this book!!! i will cherish it forever Beautiful drawings amp a mysterious but warm pair of characters drew me in, even though I know nothing about the Myst franchise.
