it! My husband grew up on a dairy farm where we now live, His brother is now the eighth generation to farm the same land and, surprisingly, we live only aboutminutes away from Tug Hill where the author farms with her husband.
I am not a farmer's wife but my motherinlaw and sisterinlaw are so I could relate to a LOT of what Natasha was talking about! It was a cute, fast read about the stresses, frustrations, joy and contentment that is dairy farming! This is the memoirs of a farmers wife, and she doesnt shy away from the facts of life on a farm.
If you wish to avoid mention of manure, the idea of getting filthy, or stories of embarrassing memories, this is not the book for you.
A few euphemisms.
My Thoughts That was hilarious, A fairly short book, its chockfull of the humorous recollections of Natasha Metzler, a dairy farmers wife, Personally, being a town girl and all, I dont know much about farming, but the writing sucked me in and I could almost smell the barn and hear the cows as I read.
What made the book really shine was the many wellplaced gems of wisdom that
all can learn from, dairy farmer or not, about trusting in God in all circumstances, mundane or crazy.
I would recommend this book, I would give this book a,I was a first reads goodreads winner of the book "The Thing about Dairy Farmers"I like reading books about animals, Got to say this is the very first book I have read about cows, This is a fun read, The author Natasha Metzler lives on a farm and gives us a good idea of what is it like to be a dairy farmer, Natasha has a wonderful sense of humor and shares with the readers the personalities of her cows,
I have learned some facts about cows, some fun some yucky! For example cows are "stupid" the author's descriptionif you put hay directly in front of them, they will eat, put it out of eye sight, they will not find it and moo in distress,
she devotes an entire chapter to "manure" and believe me, there is plenty of it everywhere, don't get to near their tails or you will get a face full, i think for now on whenever I buy milk I will think of manure whether i want to or not, this is a fun book to read, I got some insight of how much work goes into taking care of these milk producers, I tip my hat to the devoted farmers out there, it not for them. How would we eat glad i got the chance to read this entertaining book, Wit and humor from a farmer's wife I liked this book very much, Having grown up on a dairy farm and then married to a dairy farmer, a lot of what she writes is very true, I don't think there was a single thing about this book that I didn't like,
The storytelling was grand, The illustrations were whimsical and sweet, I giggled during the funny scenes and I sighed in delight during the picturesque scenes,
All in all, a very good read, I think I'll read it again even, It was just that enjoyable,
The short story about the donkey and the bull was my personal favorite Natasha Metzler doesnt have a whole list of credentials to tell you about, but she does have the incredible story of how God met her in the midst of her greatest sorrows and brought redemption.
She lives on a farm in Northern New York with her husband and two miracle children, She struggles to keep her house clean, is terrible at being on time to anything, and is sometimes an emotional messbut, amazingly enough, her husband still thinks shes something special and her children are slowly, but surely, learning that their mama loves them so much its crazy.
Her deepest hope and prayer is that every part of her life may be marked by conversation with the Father, .
