on All the Skies I Will Not See (A Touch of Cinnamon, #1.5)

the Skies I Will Not See by Petra March is a short tale of a man looking back at his life as he slowly came to terms with who he really is.
While still on his path to realization tragedy strikes and he is left remembering and regretting his choices and actions that kept him from true happiness.
This story is a short aside featuring some characters from A Veil of Glass and Rain, With a novella length novel it's always hard to review without giving the plot away, Likewise, it is hard to gain a true impression of an authors writing with such a short story, This book, with the back and forth jumping between the past and present, my head was spinning, This book could have easily been made into a full length novel, Overall, the story still resonated with me because of the journey for main character in finding himself and isfor me.
I received an ARC in exchange for an HONEST review,

I enjoyed reading this touching story about love and loss, I especially love author's appreciation of art and the way she used it in her story, making it so much more interesting to read and easy to admire.
At its heart, the story is a sweet comingofage tale of a teenage boy discovering he is gay, It is positioned inside a melodramatic wrapper: from the start we are aware that the boy nowis breathing his last, and we are seeing his life flash before his eyes.
This is meant to make the story more poignant, but to me it seemed too cheesy,

The only other complaint I have is that all of the characters are rich, young, beautiful, talented.
On a whim, they can travel to Greece or Italy or Manhattan, choose to study in England or perform offBroadway, all while everyone they meet loves them.
'All the Skies I will not See' is the story of David, Eagan's best friend, If you've read 'A Veil of Glass and Rain' you know who he is, you are aware of his role in Eagan's life and how much his life affected other people.
However, somehow knowing the end doesn't make it easy to read,

I was prepared to face dark emotions, to travel through intense feelings and Petra didn't dissapoint me.
But she did it in a way I couldn't have imagined,

We knew so little about David and what we get to know here is just a glimpse of his life.
There were big surprises and one thing that really caught my attenion was his big brother, He doesn't resemble the man we met in the other book, of course he was changed by the events that take place here.

The narration jumps between the present and the past, Specifically we read about a moment on his life where he discovered himself and how this changed it all.
However, the present situation force him to acknowledge that life not always gives us the chance to fix what we broke, to take the opportunities we let go or to said things we didn't said.

An emotional read that will leave you feeling empty and complete at the same time,

This is a novella so it will only take you less than an hour to read it but the writing is profound and it has an excellent use of words.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review, Once again the brilliance of Petra writing is amazing, This novella was touching, and broke my heart, I did not expect a short story to touch me so much and to have the ending it did.
Great addition to the A Touch of Cinnamon books, Really good. Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Same Sex Book s with a copy provided by the author / publisher for an honest review.

This story is onlypages long, and it came through on my Kindle in a strange font that I wasnt used to.
My first thought was what the heck is this

Then I read the first pagewhich I feel the need to quote here.
“Prologue. Now. My name is David Medwin, Im twentyone years old. Something bad happened to me, These are the last, precious moments of my existence, ”

I know, right How could you not keep going The story is skillfully told through sections which occur both now, and four years ago.
In the now, we follow along through a very short period of time, discovering more about what has happened to David as we go.

During the alternating pieces that take place four years ago, we learn more about who David Medwin is.
We meet his friends. We discover his secrets. Were there when he discovers things about himself and were there when he meets a young Greek boy named Ari.

Wow, this story was really powerful, What I, as a reader, took from it is you should never put stuff off, No one is promised tomorrow, For such a short story, it left me emotionally drained, and a little devastated, You know what the end is going to be right from the first line of the book, but it doesnt make it easier.

In my opinion you do not need to read the first book in the series to read this novella.
The first book appears to have a more heterosexual leaning, so it isnt one we reviewed here at Love Bytes.
It doesnt matter. This one definitely stands on its own, This is an amazing story by an amazing author, The voice of the story is so different from what Im used to reading, I couldnt put it down,

I highly recommend it, I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review,

This story is a novella and is a sweet read only taking an hour or so to finish it.
Its beautifully written with heartfelt emotions and this book will certainly make you feel,

The story is part of a series by the author called A Touch Of Cinnamon but can be read as a stand alone.
The story is a glimpse into the life of a young man who is confused and trying to find his true self.

The opening chapter is very intriguing and hooks you in immediately, The chapters in the novella alternate between the present and the past with a timeline, and as the story unravels it gets closer to the present in the first chapter coming full circle.

The characters were engaging and I could see a tragedy unfolding throughout the book but the way it ended was unexpected.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance and likes reading stories with diverse characters.

All The Skies I Will Not See is the sequel to A Veil of Glass and Rain, In my opinion it does not have to be read after book one but it would definitely help as David, the main character was introduced in book one.
This is Davids story. He is Eagans best friend from Bookin the series, ATSIWNS is a very short novella I think I read it in under an hour but it packed a whale of a punch.
Moving back and forth between past and present, you see Davids life broken up in snippets of time and realize very quickly not to take anything in life for granted.
Hug your loved ones a little tighter, kiss your cat, wave at the mailman, sniff the rain, . live life for every moment you have because you just never know, And for Petes sake, dont judge people, Secrets hurt. They hurt the ones keeping them and the ones they are keeping them for, David had a secret and it hurt him, I knew how this story was going to end yet I kept wanting it to end differently, I wanted David to have the life he deserved,

This book was very different from A Veil of Glass and Rain but still beautiful none the less.
It was also about love and loss but not about finding the HEA, It was about the ultimate loss, I loved this book too, It was brilliant. It didnt need to be longer, The author said all she needed to say in less thanpages,WickedGoodHeartbreakingStars for All The Skies I Will Not See, It takesseconds to crash,
It takesseconds to fall in love,
It takes an infinite moment to let go,

David Medwin's life is fading away, and all he can think about is what it means to be alive.

An intense story about life, death and, most of all, love,

"I devoured this book! March's writing style is expressive and dramatic, which hooked me from the start.
There's a musician inside of her somewhere, as she shares songs at the end, but her writing throughout this novel has a certain melody of its own.

All the Skies I Will Not See is a coming of age story, as well as the story of first love.
It is a companion novella and sequel to A Veil of Glass and Rain, This novella, despite its brevity has ALL THE FEELS! It tugged on my heartstrings and left me thinking about it still three days later.
All I can say is, "Why Just why Life is not fair!"

The characters were well developed, believable, and likable.
I quickly became attached to David, Lilly, and Ari, The plot was unique and moved steadily forward, It did jump back and forth from past to present frequently, but the author marked it clearly, so that wasn't really an issue.
I thought the past and present were interwoven perfectly,

This was my second book by Petra March, The first book wasn't my cup of tea, so I was pleasantly surprised by this novella, I loved it so much! I wish it would have been a little longer because now I am wanting more! I will be interested to see what else this author has written.

I reviewed this book on behalf of A Book Lover's Emporium book blog,.Stars

Short, Amazing, Beautiful, Emotional well written story!

If you have read thest book A Veil of Glass and Rain, you will know that David is Eagan's best friend.
I suggest you read that onest before venturing onto this one,

As we already know how David's story ends, but jesus, . . I didn't expect to feel all kinds of emotions while reading his story! A credit to this author!

Highly recommend having some tissues on stand by as you will need them!

This book was gifted by the Author for an honest review Being the second book in the series, I read this book straight after A Veil of Glass and Rain.
All the Skies I Will Not See tells the story of Eagan's friend, David, It alternates between David's past and the moments leading up to his death, leaving the obligatory lump in my throat.

I thought A Veil of Glass and Rain was emotionally charged, but that was nothing compared to All the Skies I Will Not See.
From the beginning, I knew I was going to be upset at the end but I thought, "well it's a short story, how emotionally invested can I be" The answer is "VERY!".

Petra March has written this novella in such a way that the reader experiences David's life flashing before his eyes in the moments leading up to his death.
We experience his loves, his losses, his hopes and his fears, so it's little wonder that I was left with a feeling of sadness at his passing.

I do think there is an underlying message in this book about being happy in your own skin and not worrying about what other people think of you.
To quote the cliché, All the Skies I Will Not See reminds us to "live every day as if it's your last".
All the Skies I Will Not See is a poignant and beautifully written story of love, life and death and how fragile we really are.

I received this ebook from the author in exchange for an honest review, I received this ARC from the Author in exchange for an honest review

I give this very surprising and moving novellastars!!!

This novella certainly has the WOW factor! I was amazed how such a short story about David could pull at the heart strings so strongly.
I was expecting tears because I was aware of Davids fate and how the story would end, what I didnt expect was so many feelings to surface.
My surprise was that my emotions werent focused on how the story ends but the struggles David was facing at such a young age.
When I finished reading this I felt quite sad as David didnt get to live the life he should have had, mostly because he was frightened to embrace who he really was and because of his fear of others reactions.
He didnt get to experience real love and had a lot of missed opportunities,
Although I was saddened by the story and certainly needed tissues by the end, I also found it quite inspirational.
I found myself reflecting on my life and finding no regrets, I hope this story reaches out to other young people who are struggling to find themselves and encourages them to be strong and make decisions based on what is best for them!

I couldn't put this beautifully written story down and read it in one
