When I picked it up, I didnt realise this book was set in Australia, I guess my default mind setting for books from Harlequin is “American”! So that was a nice surprise for this Australian reader.
Her Irresistible Protector has an interesting concept for a book in this line, It has a very different plotline with a little hint of suspense to it that I didnt even know you could
find in this series.
Books in the Romance line are quite shortwords, so our hero is at our heroines door and shepherding her to a safe house within the first pages.
I definitely think the author captured a feel of Australia with this one, I was happy that Harlequin kept the proper spelling and most of the proper terminology in, One thing that stopped me cold was the characters calling mobile phones cell phones we do NOT call them that! It was especially jarring as the rest of the book was so spoton.
I became a little frustrated with both characters at various parts of the story, but thats to be expected when theyre having a serious disagreement about a man of their mutual acquaintance.
I do like some angst in my books, and this one had it,
In the end, this is still a product of its category line, so nothing gets too dark or too angstridden.
One thing to note is that you should absolutely read this book before reading the companion book!
Her Irresistible Protector could be read in one sitting, and was a decent little read with the added bonus of feeling more contemporary than many in its series.
copy provided by NetGalley, We have all had that one special person that we loved beyond reason , more than life itself.
But sadly that person does not always remain in our lives and we need to learn to let them go.
It could be for any number of reasons but it still comes down to letting go and trying to learn to live with the pain of a broken heart and a desperate need to refind that special special person back in your life.
But what would you do if it actually happened And what if the man of your dreams has not come back to reclaim you as his but shows up saying he's there to protect you
In the new read from the very talented Michelle Douglas this is the set up for Tash Buckley, her ex and yes the only man she ever loved Officer Mitch King shows up at her doorstep and says none of the
" I am here to take you back into my arms, because I can't live without you" words and instead says he is there to protect her because she needs protecting from a devious mind she had no idea was even out to get her.
This leads to her heart first racing at seeing him again in all his fine gorgeous glory , but also sends her blood hitting the roof as she is more than capable of taking care of herself and so does not need his help.
Mitch does manage to bring her around to his idea and soon they are confined to his beachside cabin.
Tash finds it more and more difficult to resist Mitch and his delicious charm, afterall she fell for the man hook line and sinker the first time and never really let go, so how is she meant ignore him And let's be honest deep down even the most independent of woman wants a good looking man to protect her!
Michelle Douglas has a way of taking a normal everyday sounding story and turning it into a magic read of epic proportions, she takes you on journeys of love that are so much more than just romance.
The stories are lifelines and guide stones to learning how to deal with everyday kind of situations, And this time she has done so again, I fell head over heals in love with this couple and I could not put the book down.
Micth was such a stunning character that I simply wanted to grab on to him and say "It's okay, ignore her you can protect me instead!" Yes that is the honest truth, this man is the kind that any woman would want around when trouble comes knocking.
Yes he is a bit of a closed one tracked minded kind of hero, but you also know there is a little something there that needs to be explored and once it has you will be certain he's the perfect man ready to never let you go.
The character of Tash was so much fun to read, I loved seeing her all rattled up by Mitch's presence.
It was like seeing a young school girl all rattled up by the hottest guy in school suddenly talking to her , yes it was that funny! And so beautifully crafted it made me wish I could be in front of her to give her good slap so that she could see the man inside that I knew Mitch to be.
I am taking away a message of life does hurt, and sometimes we simply don't understand why we lost someone that we loved so very much.
But when the person comes back to you it is the time to realize
there 's a good reason for it.
It might seem that the situation is the same issue as before, but it 's not, You have been apart long enough to grow into a person within your own right, and now it's time to learn to live life together.

" He wants to protect her, but will she let him"
This is a very moving and heartwarming story about people growing up in the poorer suburbs and the things that happen that shape their lives in the future.
Tash grew up without a mother and an abusive fatherand her best friend Rick's mother and grandmother sold themselves and they knew right from wrong then Mitch moves into the suburb with his grandparents after losing his parents tragicaly but he becomes a policeman and he is determined to sort out the bad guys and does something he shouldn't and hurtsyear old Tash to get someone he believes is doing the wrong thing after that they stay away from each other foryears but now Mitch is back in Tash's life to protect her from her best friend and Tash cannot convince Mitch that he is so wrong about Rick.
When Tash and Mitch end up at a secluded cabin on a private beach for a few days there is a lot of mistrust and angst as they realize that they still have feelings for each other their days there are up and down with a lot of talk about the past but true love never runs smoothly and this is a story that will have you turning the pages and not wanting to put it down.
The ending will have you on the edge of your seat and grabbing tissues as Mitch realizes what a caring loving and strong person Tash is and together they make plans for a wonduful future together where they respect and love each other.
Don't miss this one, I loved the 'suspense' aspect in this Mills and Boon Forever Romance, Policeman Mitch believes Tash is in danger that her best friend 'bad boy' Rick has been hurting women and that she's next, so he sweeps her away to his secluded beachside cabin for safety.
Of course, Tash doesn't believe Rick's a villain and he's not, But while alone with such an irresistible man she's loved for years, Tash and Mitch cannot resist their attraction for one another.
I really enjoyed many aspects of this book, especially the fun and games of swimming, kayaking, and cooking that Mitch and Tash indulged in while hiding away.
This is a lovely sweet romance with just that little touch of danger which makes it all the more interesting.
Loved it. This story starts with a bang with Mitch turning up at Tash's door ready to protect her from a serial madman.
The conflict starts almost at once with Tash denying that her old friend Rick was responsible for doing all the nasty, sick things he is accused of.
The trouble is that it's almost a replay of the last time Mitch was trying to protect Tash from Rick when he was a Rookie cop and she was a girl in love.
That ended badly with Rick in jail and Tash with a broken heart,
To save her this time, Mitch takes her bush that's Australian for forest to his cabin by the beach.
I really don't need to say any more do I
This is a sweet romance although the foreplay is warmer than it used to be in these titles.
I don't read a lot of sweet romance but I did enjoy this with the reunion thing and the touch of suspense.
A really sweet Harlequin Romance based in Australia, I tend to have a soft spot for books written in Australia and really enjoyed the setting, When Officer Mitchell King shows up on Tash Buckleys doorstep she just knows this means trouble, She has successfully avoided Mitch ever since their bad breakup years ago when he used her as part of a case.
.
But when trouble lands at her door Mitch is there to offer protection, They are holed up for days at Mitchs beach cabin while officers try to catch a criminal after Tash and with their close confinement they are finally able to talk about what happened so many years ago.
I loved how after some initial anger they were able to talk about their feelings and move on.
This is a “close door” sex book which means theres nothing smexy on the page but this was a sweet story none the less.
Fun read!
