Reports are coming in to UNIT of trains emerging from a railway tunnel in Sussex, their passengers and drivers dead, The Doctor elects to drive a train through the tunnel himself, but when he emerges Jo sees to her horror that he is covered in ice, Something in the tunnel has driven him close to the point of death, What can it be The third story in Short Trips Series, Time Tunnel is a Third Doctor/Jo/UNIT story read by Katy Manning Jo Grant on TV, Manning is an excellent reader and does well with the voices of the characters, The story revolves around time distortion affecting a train that passes through a tunnel, It's a good story with a bittersweet ending, Set somewhere in Seasonwith references to Devil's End and Peladon, this is definitely a mustlisten for Third Doctor fans and is quite affordable at onlyfrom the Big Finish website.
Fairly standard little story gained an extra point because Katy Manning is awesome The only thing which stops this interesting audio from being a/is that the Doctor did not do, what the Doctor does best no time travel, no heroic acts which are at times more human than the human characters, peace is not negotiated, the people and the aliens are not saved.
UNIT stories usually involve alien invasions and threats from beyond, This story is more paranormal in nature, The Doctor and UNIT investigate the mysterious deaths of a trainload of passengers who have emerged from a train tunnel impossibly old and malnourished, The Brigadier's solution is simple cave in the tunnel to prevent anyone else from falling victim to

this phenomena, Only the Doctor and Jo understand the true nature of the time distortion in the tunnel, unfortunately they are unable to convince UNIT that the alien presence in the tunnel isn't a real threat.

Doctor Who as a series doesn't always use time travel or time distortions as fodder for plots, but this is an example of a good use of time travel phenomena as a plot.

電車がトンネルを通りぬけると乗員乗客が全員死んでいたという怪事件が起こりブリゲディアはドクターに調査を依頼する
現場に赴いたドクターとジョーは乗客の死因が全員餓死ときいて驚くドクターは調べるために自ら電車を運転してトンネルを通るトンネルから出てきた時ドクターは意識を完全に失っていた

感想
トンネルの中の時間が歪みそこを通ることであっという間に加齢してしまうなぜそれが起こるのか調べようにも軍はマスコミに知られる前にトンネルを爆破してしまったドクターが手慰みでジョーのラジオを改造して作っていたレコーダーが拾っていた“救助が向かっている”という音声で何百年も昔に宇宙船が不時着し救難信号送っていたようだということがわかる時間の流れが違うためその救助がいつくるのかもわからない調べようにも丘は爆破されてしまっているターディスを自由に操れたならブリゲディアが丘を爆破しなければもっと何かできたかもしれない助けを求めていた宇宙人を助けることも可能だったかもしれない迎えがくる頃には自分もここから遠く離れたところにいるだろうとジョーにこぼすドクターからなんともいえないやり切れなさが伝わってきて切ないが時間の歪みに巻き込まれて命を落とした電車の乗員乗客の皆さんの方がもっと切ないなぁとこれ以上悲劇が起こる前に塞いでしまいたかったブリゲディアの気持ちもわかる Nice little Short Trip, but I knew exactly what was going to happen the moment it started,

I love Katy Manning too much to dislike it, A brilliant little audio short trip and amazingly narrated, Katy Manning did an absolute stellar job when narrating this and it made it so enjoyable to listen to, I loved this brief little story and adventure with therd Doctor and Jo and I could really listen to them all day!
