Miniseries: Billionaires and Babies Loved everything about the book, Although if I can change one thing it would be that when talking about Jason I would use the name Jason and not Jeremy and vice versa.
Other than the ending which I wanted more of, this story was brilliant, It was a very interesting and different plot, and the story was crafted well and kept me reading, I read the whole book in one sitting, Good book. Very good book. Holly has been dealing with a whole host of problems, She is the mother of twin boys, whose father is dead, She had married him because she was pregnant, not knowing that he had drug problems, With his death, she discovered that he had left massive debts, which she currently has no way to pay, Without income, she will also soon be homeless, When her doorbell rings one night, she is stunned to find a man that looks just like her husband standing there, a man who turns out to be her husband's twin brother.
Holly finds out that her husband had told her a bunch of lies about who he was and where he had come from.
When Jason explains who he is, and that he wants to help, she is relieved, but also cautious, Having been deceived once, she doesn't want to risk it again, It doesn't take too long for her to realize that Jason is the real thing, which creates a different kind of problem.
She is very attracted to him,
Jason was stunned to find out that his brother had not only married, but fathered twin boys, He is determined to do whatever is necessary to take care of them, Making Holly part of the package is no hardship, In spite of her frazzled appearance, he was attracted to her from the moment he met her, He'd like to get closer to her, but he's got
his own secret that is keeping him at a distance.
I really liked Jason, He is a wonderful man who really cares about the people around him, He had done everything he could to help his brother, and felt guilty that nothing had worked, It was really sweet to see how quickly he took to the boys, The attraction he feels for Holly is really strong, and his feelings for her grow rapidly, but he has health issues that make him reluctant to marry and have a family of his own.
I liked the way that he was honest with her about it, even though he was being terribly pessimistic, He tries very hard to keep their relationship to just friends, but it is a losing battle,
I loved Holly's independence, She really wants to be able to handle everything herself, but she has to admit that she needs help, She also sees Jason's need to take care of the twins, since they are the only family he has left.
She's also just as attracted to him as he is to her and is willing to see where it goes, until he explains his issues to her.
She starts out agreeing with him that they should stick to being friends, but the more she gets to know him the more she wants him.
I loved seeing the relationship develop between Holly and Jason, I loved seeing them give in to the passion that went along with their friendship, It grew rapidly into love, but neither would admit it to the other, Jason had begun to realize that his fears were a bit extreme, but he wasn't sure how to tell Holly that he had changed.
Holly had also realized that she would rather have whatever time she could with Jason, rather than deny them both the life that they wanted.
There was a very interesting twist at the end that surprised both Holly and Jason, I loved seeing them finally have the courage to share their feelings and look forward to a future together, I would have liked an epilogue to see the results of that surprise, but maybe they'll show up in a later book.
I also liked the secondary characters of Lewis and Miranda and the struggles they were going through, It was nice to see Holly and Miranda develop such a wonderful friendship, and the support they gave each other.
I loved seeing Holly be there for Miranda during her troubles, and how Miranda repaid her, The bathing suit scene was pretty funny, especially with the resulting discovery, Good story line . But what the hell kind of ending was that At least let us know what happens at the end, This is thest book I read by Michelle Celmer, I loved this Demanding His Brothers Heirs's story line, I loved the hot amp steamy scenes, I loved how Holly amp Jason met, I loved Holly's character. My heart broke for Holly, I thought Holly was very strong after all she went through, I loved Jason's character. I thought Jason was very strong for what he went through, I loved how Jason stepped up to the plate, My heart broke amp I was happy for Miranda, I loved the ending. I would definitely read more books by Ms, Celmer, awesome job. it's so nice to read pure and sweet book once in awhile : This was an enjoyable reading, However, the ending was kind of abrupt, Holly found herself with three month old twins and a deceased husband, After Jeremy died, Holly realized that Jeremy was very deep in debt, His death was a suicide and Jeremy was terribly addicted to drugs, The landlord allowed her to stay a month till she could afford a more reasonable apartment but Holly was totally broke and had no family.
The twins had been premature and needed three hour feedings, Holly was worn out and had lost a lot of weight, She kept telling herself that she would make it somehow,
Jason Cavanaugh had been informed that his twin brother had died when Jeremy did not pick up his allowance check.
The lawyer had given him the address and Jason hoped that they had not thrown out his personal effects as in spite of everything, Jason wanted something to remember his brother by.
Jason had no illusions about the type of man that his twin had become but he still cared,
Holly answered the door and promptly fainted, She had no idea that Jeremy had a twin, Jason was in shock at the beautiful women who opened the door, He was more shocked to learn that she was Jeremy's wife and all the baby bottles sitting around told him.
That his brother had children,
After talking with Holly, Jason realized that his brother had really told her a bunch of lies, Things like being raised in foster care, having an automobile accident and getting monthly checks, Holly never knew anything about the drug addiction because she had been pregnant with morning sickness and then bed rest for premature labor almost their whole marriage.
Jason did not want to reveal that Jeremy was from a wealthy family but he did want to help her back on her feet.
There was also the issue that the twins would one day inherit millions and be needed to know her better and provide a stable upbringing for his nephews.
Jason had health issues that would not allow him to have children so he wanted to be as involved as much as possible.
But Holly was beautiful, How involved should he get with his sisterinlaw, Slowly but surely, Harlequin romances are moving into the modern age, Yes, theyll still have unlikely Cinderella scenarios with poor girls meeting handsome but lonely billionaires, However, sometimes contemporary ideas will make their way into the improbable tale,
Vasectomies, adoptions, miscarriages, drug addiction, statutory rape !, a heavily implied abortion and a physically compromised male lead are all part of this novel and I have to admit I found their inclusions to be startlingbut not objectionable.
Welcome to thest century,
That being said, wellworn plot devices are firmly in place, Holly Shay moves in with Jason Cavanaugh after only a token protest, She accepts financial help from him even after she finds out hes a billionaire, They agree to stay in the friend zone guess how long that resolve lasts and she falls in love with him after only nine days.
Naturally, its up to her to declare her feelings first since hes a commitmentphobe, Let me insert a few words about this oftseen masculine attitude, Men who tell a woman up front about why they cant be tied down arent being honest: theyre preparing an exit strategy.
It doesnt matter what the reason is, Its simply their way of getting sex without having to become serious about the person theyre trying to bed, The excuses/reasons/justifications are wide and varied but the motivation is the same, He cant give anything more than sex because:
Hes got a wife/fiancée/girlfriend,
Hes got a job in another state,
Hes moving shortly.
Hes just passing through,
Hes an alcoholic.
Hes a drug addict,
He doesnt have long to live,
Hes dangerous criminal, vampire, werewolf, incubus, what have you, Yeah, that chases off a lot of women but there are plenty of ladies out there who find bad boys so HOT.
.
Jasons excuse is poor health, He looks in tiptop shape but hes had a heart transplant, He needs to see a cardiologist once a month and take a load of pills to make sure his heart keeps working.
Well, that is different. But his stated intention of keeping Holly at arms length doesnt last long, especially after he catches her sunbathing and sees her in a towel.
Down, boy!
Matters take a predictable road after that though not without some unpredictable twists, What kept me from lapsing into discontent was the addition of Lewis and Miranda, a couple struggling with fertility issues.
Miranda is a woman whos been married four times but has decided that Lewis is the one she wants to keep.
A multiple divorcée who isnt a golddigger or desperate housewifeanother refreshing change,
Miranda and Lewis are a counterpoint to Holly and Jason, Their relationship isnt perfect by any means and they have their sorrows and tribulations, Miranda doesnt play the role of the wise and knowing older woman or the chatty, manobsessed BF whos constantly poking Holly to go for the gusto.
They bolster each other yet sometimes find themselves at a lossjust like real people,
This novel will put off people who prefer their HQ romances to be strictly about unsullied females and stalwart heroes.
For those of us yearning for adult fare, however, this is the novel weve been saving ourselves up for, .
