Obtain Immediately Face Of Our Father Constructed By G. Egore Pitir Shared As Electronic Format
gave up on this bookbook club members and no one cared for it, The pacing and plot of this book is so intricate and intriguing that it could almost be considered more literary than a thriller, Set in recent times, the plot revolves around several disparate views, all centered in the American Muslim conflict, On one hand, the story begins its tale around a trio of young zealots, led by a fevered disciple whose only desire is to seek vengeance against American GIs whose bombs killed his mother.
Leading younger men whose families suffered similar losses, they all find themselves torn between duty and the doubts they feel about their assignments,
In counterpoint, we meet Stu amp Angie, one a husband and career pilot, the other a former prosecutor with a mission, Raised by her grandfather after the passing of her mother, Angie learned at an early age to interpret his face for the truth of how he felt about her accomplishments and failures.
This still holds true for her today as she fights what may be a losing battle in her private life against tortured victims of abuse internationally, no matter what it may do to her marriage.
All in all, a true page turner, frightening in its reflection of current events,
One issue with reviewing is that when you judge a book you also judge yourself, and maybe here I fail, but I found this book hard going, It starts with a prologue, and I found the prologue to be wellwritten and interesting, but later I found the prologue had nothing to do with the story, other than how a purse got buried in the sand.
The story is based around three groups: a prince of the Saudi realm, a group of Afghanis who wish to terrorize the US, and a couple, Angie and Stu, Angie
apparently wants to right wrongs to Islamic women, but she keeps this from Stu, Her mechanism is to keep a website, Come on. We have long periods of introspective contemplation when Stu wants to know what Angie is up to, Why doesn't he look up the website But no, he hovers around the bedroom, wondering whether it would be dishonorable to peek into her files, Interspersed are long period of Angie in some introspective black hole, The problem for me with this is as the current action flits from scene to scene, we don't know how or why it happened, Too much tell, not enough show of the critical points,
What we now find in the book are descriptions of moments in the days of the terrorists, with disconnected sequences of an attack on what seems to be a US base, and retaliation.
The writing was good from the descriptive point of view, and the actual scenes were vivid, but how did they get from scene to scene, and more to the point, why were certain actions taken We get long periods of introspection and back story about Angie and Stu, and misleading views of the Prince.
At the end, Pitir shows he really can write, The scene where Stu flies is tense, and seems very realistic, It is just a pity that a pearl like this was not wrapped in so much sow's ear, If you like a story that digresses all over the place in the middle of something happening, with lots of descriptive back story to paint a picture, this book is really a rich tapestry.
For me, I would rather there was much less concentration on the background of the painting, and much more effort into the foreground, i, e. what the story was about, Did not finish. Book club read. Every reader in our group struggled to "get into" this book, This book is so compelling, with a theme and plot line that is emotionally charged and controversial in nature with issues given from both sides of the equation, Angie and Stu are a really interesting married couple who not only know themselves remarkably well, but also understand the core of each other's personalities, beliefs, and motivations, Stu's code of honor confounded me just a little bit simply because it seemed smarter to know exactly what was happening with Angie's dangerous work, and yet he feels guilty for breaking a promise to essentially mind his own business.
When it comes to issues of your spouses safety it seems to me that this kind of business would be your spouses business also, but that's the interesting dynamic that the author sets forth between the two characters.
Stu decides to support her, going toetotoe with the kind of evil that stones, rapes, and mutilates women for being educated, free thinking, or exercising their own free will, and because Angie is ready to give her all for any cause she deems worthy, she is ready to get herself killed in the process.
I found the dialogue interesting to almost borderline frustrating in the sense that it seemed like so many things were implied but never spoken for more than half the book, and I was sitting there thinking to myself.
. . do other married people really communicate like this, . . with every word they say calculated and delivered as if they're playing chess with their partner Another interesting dynamic to add to their struggling relationship, The action is intense, the goals and motivations of the main characters are something anyone can get on board with, and I feel that at the heart of this masterpiece is the gritty raw truth that many people skirt around or have difficulty acknowledging, but which this author addresses in a bold and unapologetic fashion.
Moving prose, amazing attention to detail, and a story that strikes that emotional chord necessary to pull the reader in and keep them there for the duration, I highly recommend this to fans of thrillers and action adventure stories, Winner of the Best Indie Book Award! I only enjoyed aboutpages of this book, The characters were a bit two dimensional for my tastes, and so much of the story was told via angstdriven thoughts, The ending was abrupt and didn't make much sense based on the rest of the story, In a post/America,or,should I say World, it was very gutsy to write a book on this subject, Almost makes you afraid to write a review, especially in a time where everyone is offended by something, Growing up wanting to write and fly on the shores of Lake Michigan,Pitir, put imagination to paper and wrote a work of art, What happens, when a couple starts lying to one another Does it make a difference if the lies are to keep the other safeWhat if the lies will destroy you, your family, your Country Stu,has a problem,he needs go and no go pills, not a good combo, for a Pilot.
He has to come off them,if his beautiful, wife Angie finds out,she will be destroyed, On a whim he comes home, something is off,but oddly familiar, Everyone has had that feeling before, that sinking, sick feeling, Proof is in the pudding,or in the pictures, Skip over to the Middle East,a group of young Muslims, blood thirsty, hates Americans, Can you guess the next part Jihad,is called upon, they are given the go ahead to come to America, live among us,learn our ways, until their Mullah gives them the order.
So,what does that have to do with,Ang and Stu Girls being stoned, being cut, used as chattel, Annie, tried to keep it a secret, promised herself she was done, . . It all comes unraveled, page, after page, . You can't stop reading. . Cat and mouse, chess, poker Who will win Who is in charge Fast paced, thriller, Emotional rollercoaster. I could go on,I'm sure,I'm not making sense, But,I don't want to spoil the book, I might have said too much already, For an award winning, indie, writer, this was an excellent, page turning read, . Written like a Cussler book, . . Violent, paranoid, stereotypes of good and evil, I could not continue reading Pitir does it again! Some authors speak of genre bending, some authors prove it, After winning theBest Indie Book Award for Action/Adventure and receiving the B, R. A. G. Medallion, FACE OF OUR FATHER was just awarded the Bronze Medal for Popular Fiction by theeLit Awards,
This novel has it all, One part "The Bourne Identity," one part "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," and one part "The Notebook," this poignant tale leaves the reader haunted by its characters long after the novel's final page has turned.
Stuart and Angela Pierce, like many disillusioned careerists, are busy reinventing their lives, Stu reduces his airline flying schedule to train for triathlons, while Angie escapes the daily horrors of a prosecutors job to pursue pro bono work, But death threats soon prove that the only thing Angie escaped was the protective arm of the District Attorneys office, With a graphic photo of a ritual stoning Stus only tangible clue, he sets out to protect a wife who refuses to protect herself, Obsessed with catching a murdering rapist, Angie plunges them both into a web of global intrigue, But who, indeed what, is the real enemy Honor, Love. Life. All are at stake as the Pierces struggle to uncover the truth, both the enemys, and their own, Sometimes the biggest enemy can be the one right next to you FACE OF OUR FATHER is too literary to be a thriller, yet too thrilling to put downa unique blend of action and intimacya thriller with a soul.
How often does fiction change how we define integrity, prejudice, and evil To get at all that, a novel needs a rollercoaster of a plot coupled with an acute understanding of identity, love, and where these intersect.
Test your beliefs. Read it. We are proud to announce that FACE OF OUR FATHERS by G, Egore Pitir is a B, R. A. G. Medallion Honoree. This tells a reader that this book is well worth their time and money! This one of the exceptionally rare books that I simply won't finish reading, The writing is good, but I feel like I was deceived, I was originally informed about this book because it was supposedly Christian and was available for free, Well it was free but it doesn't look Christian to me, The only religion I've seen so far is Muslim, Maybe there's something Christian about it later, but I don't even want to find out, It's full of a LOT of very graphic violence and death a lot of Muslim terrorism too, I'm quitting before the end of chapterand praying the horrible pictures of torture will leave my mind, I double checked but the book is not listed as Christian, That shocks me as I won't buy anything that's not listed as Christian, and I always check, But now, it's listed mainly as crime and suspense and "religious", which I won't buy, Either I messed up or the listing changed, So This one is about to be deleted, I do not recommend it, .
