Sable's debut novel, Separation Point, is a fine blend of romance and intrigue in a futuristic setting with just the right amount of technology and world building to satisfy my nerd tendencies.
Best yet, Separation Point made me laugh out loud, not just once, but several times, I look forward to more from Jennifer Sable in the future, Airships and romance and awesome female friendships, yes please! Besides all that, this book was filled with characters I loved and exactly my kind of humor.


It also reminded me a bit of JD Robb's In Death series, The storylines are completely different, but both are set in the near future and I think fans of topofherfield Eve Dallas and her journey to trust and love and overcome her troubled past may find a new favorite in Captain Effone rhymes with Stephanie Pacifica.


I definitely recommend this for anyone looking to try something new,

Captain Effone Pacifica is admirably strong, intelligent, and loyal to her crew including her best friend, Anda, I liked her from the start, As the story progresses we learn the captain is haunted by a past that could keep her from accepting the love of her life.
I certainly understood her attraction to a caring, intelligent, gorgeous man, and I could relate with compassion to the fears of a strong woman who does not want to be vulnerable.
The combination of romance, adventure and intelligence made this book a pleasure to read, I'd love to read more of Captain Pacifica's adventures and her world, Captain Pacifica is a great female lead in this adventure romance, She is funny and strong and someone I want to get to know! I had not read anything set in a world quite like this one I love the airships.
The scenes in the rigging and racing around the airship structure were gripping, evocative, and very cinematic,

I also really liked the development of Effone's romance and her friendship in parallel, She's a romance heroine who doesn't forget her best friend as things get heavy with hunky man, Loved that.

I'm looking forward to this character's further adventures and to seeing more of this intriguing world,
I love books that make me laugh, and help me forget about my problems, This book did both! The characters are likable, the story moves at a good pace, and I can't count how many times I said "awww" at their unfolding romance.
I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to smile, The humor and wit made this book for me! I dug the funny, often laughoutloud lines between the captains and their crew.
Also, since I haven't read much scifi romance, I enjoyed the unique futuristic setting here it was relatable, but maybe me curious to read more about how this society was different than ours.
I'm looking forward to more sweet and funny reads from Jennifer Sable, I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, And honestly, I wish I'd read this much earlier, The book takes place in the future, after the world population was devastated, The heroine had a difficult childhood and was rescued by an officer in an airship company and sent to academy, She is dedicated and extremely good at her job as the captain of an airship, The hero grew up in a healthy family and is now captain of a seafaring ship, The two companies are rivals, and have a history of conducting challenges and competitions, When the two are sent to participate in a special training program, they are reluctant and then surprised to find they are partnered together.
They are sweet as a couple,

and I appreciated that they were able to keep their growing feelings for each other balanced with their training responsibilities.


The story revolves partly around their relationship and it slow development, It also revolves around the way they are affected by sabotage and the actions of a group that is against expanding human holdings on Earth.
I was able to figure out pretty easily who the traitor was, though the situation turned out to be more complex than I realized.
The implications of the sabotage were appropriately dangerous and damaging, I did wish that the world building had included a few more details as I could follow the relationship and the issue of the sabotage, but didn't have a good feel for the overall context of the world in which they lived, the roles of the different companies, or the relationship between the companies and the government.


One thing I liked about the book was that it was friendly to mental health treatment, There are some serious issues to be dealt with, and while therapy is not a significant aspect of the plot, it does have a role to play at one point.
In addition, the story contains true friendship and rewards responsible leadership, Separation Point is a romance novel, but one that features a fierce female main character, an interesting, futuristic setting, and an intriguing mystery that weaves through the story.
