Snag Murdered At 17 Conveyed By Christine Conradt Listed As Softcover
book was entertaining, but it wasn't the greatest, It was very predictable and the pacing of the plot was too fast paced, I feel like I couldn't connect with the characters, Jake's character was a little cheesy and his behavior of being an obsessive serial killer was very basic and unoriginal, It's like a hallmark movie, where everything is cheesy and predictable but you only watch it because there is nothing else to watch on the tv channels.
I only recommend it if you don't have anything else to read and you just want something to pass the time, Today's post is on Murdered atby Christine Conradt, It ispages long and is published by Harper Teen, The cover is black with girl in silhouette and the title in orange above her, The intended reader is someone who likes overthetop plots and Lifetime Movies, There is mild foul language, no sex, and mild violence in this book, The story is told in third person close of the main character, Brooke, There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book Pretty and popular, seventeenyearold Brooke Emerson is the envy of her classmatesand even some of her closest friends.
But while she seems to have it all, Brooke has never felt so lost,
Ever since she sustained a head injury during a cheerleading stunt the previous year, shes suffered from a disorder that causes her to fly into uncontrollable, sometimes violent rages.
As hard as she tries to keep it together, she finds herself in danger of jeopardizing her seemingly perfect life,
If isnt until Brooke meets Jake, a handsome and charismatic stranger, that she feels like shes found someone who not only understands her, but accepts her for who she is.
As tempting as it is to get swept up in the romance, she cant help but feel like something in their relationship isnt quite right.
When her best friend is brutally murdered, Brooke has no choice but to depend on her new love, . . especially because she's worried that she might be the killer,
If you love Lifetime Movies and overthetop plots then you should read this book, This is basically 'Mother May I Sleep with Danger' add in a plot twist of brain injury and we have our story, The head injury plot is interesting and adds in something extra to the story as Brooke feels that she cannot trust herself about much of anything.
I did like that she pegged Jake's stalker behavior real quick and decided call him on it and not deal with that, The plot can be cheesy at times with Jake's behavior and how much money he has to just throw around but I think that it fits the story itself.
If cheesy teen thriller/dramas are your thing then you need to read this book,
I give this volume a Three out of Five, I get nothing for my review and I borrowed this book from my local library, At first the book was a bit slow, There was a lot of introductions and fights that were not needed, some but not all,
The lastpages I couldn't put it down, When they set up Jake with a mic at the table and fail, so they get him later at the gas station after Brooke "threatened" her own life.
Positives:
I think the way they executed the end of the book was great when they set Jake up at a gas station, and caught his confession.
I loved how the whole mystery started because she just woke up with blood on her hands at a place she had no idea how she ended up, with pics of Maddie's body on her phone.
. . well done.
This is written very well, medium length chapters and easy to read,
The fact they had failed the first time when they tried to catch Jake at the restaurant added length and drama to the book in a good way.
When she went to the cops I really liked how it was a hard battle between her mother and her whether or not she should go through with it.
I feel like it added a good relationship example between them,
When Becca threatens her life to catch Jake, I was so shocked and interested that I read from that part on in one day because of how well it was done.
She calls him with everyone there, threatens her life, and Jake immediately says I have to talk to you about something you don't know the full story!
Negatives:
I think there were some unnecessary fights and side stories in some places, like when Maddie and her fought for theth.
time in the book.
I understand why she had Jake propose to Becca, but I personally would have been ok if he had just talked about it and not actually done it.
I wish Jake would have been a little more open with Becca or at least spun a web of lies to her for the shock value later.
I thought the way Jake confessed was a little basic and typical of a killer, For example: H proposed to keep her with him, and took the pictures on her phone of Maddie to show her how much he "cared"
Overall:outI love this book so much.
It definitely hooked me and I felt so many emotions reading this tying into my own life, The characters were amazing and i felt a real connection with all of them, I liked the pacing of this book, we got to see a good portion of Brooke and Jake's tumultuous relationship before the murder took place.
It was quite obvious who the murderer was but that wasn't the main focus of the book, It was nice that we got to see Brooke and Maddie as friends before they had their falling out, it made it seem more believable and not just there to further the plot.
Overall i really liked this book, I don't have many negative things to say about it other than I'm not sure how realistic it is that Jake isn't quiteyet, but he lives alone in a penthouse, goes to fancy restaurants and goes on helicopter rides, but can still blend in with high school students.
This is really the only negative I personally found with this book,.stars! I loved this book!! I give it,! I had so many emotions when i read it, happiness, anger, sadness, . . I higly recommend this boon if you wanna read a good mystery/thriller ! This book really surprised me, I had no expectations going in and honestly came this close to giving it away because the spine clashed with the colors on my book shelf.
I don't read many thrillers, but I liked this one, What really brought me in was that the protagonist had a condition that made her fly into violent rages, This stroke my fancy for I have never read from such a perspective, And even though I predicted the twist, as everyone else did, literally I'm sure within the first few chapters, I'm okay with that because the author properly set up the conclusion.
I can't tell you how utterly asinine it is when the twist comes out of left field and literally makes no sense whatsoever, just for the sake of twisting.
I did like Jake, even though he was literally a walking red flag, And like Brooke, I did get swept up into his looks, and money, and devotion, And I'll be honest, a small crazy part of myself was disappointed it didn't work out between them, Jake being certifiable or not,
One thing I MUST give props to is when Brooke did what literally every reader is screaming into the pages for the protagonist to do when they find themselves spiralling out of control.
TELL YOUR MOM.
That's right folks. For the first time in thriller history, no, book history, our protagonist sought out and confided in the help of a trusted adult instead of keeping the whole damn thing a secret as they attempted keep all the shattered pieces of their life together.
It truly is a historic moment,
stars. And Christine Conradt earned every one of them, "I need to recognize the difference between hurting someone for no reason and disappointing someone because I don't want to do what they want me to do.
"
I found this book on BookOutlet, com and had no idea what to expect, I couldn't stop turning the pages,
The main character was likable, but at the same time, there were moments where I wanted to smack her,
Her boyfriend was a nightmare, and so much fun to read!
I want to read the other books associated with this one, and watch the Lifetime movies.
I thought this was an okay book, Some of it was predictable and parts were thrilling, writing was iffy at times but overall VERY good plot, i couldnt put the book down!!!! i loved it a lot, very surprised by how in love with the book i became in such a short time, This book was captivating. I was reading this nonstop because of how well written and crafted the book was, The two major plot twists of the book were surprising yet planned,
SPOILERS AHEAD
When she woke up to see Maddie murdered, I was captivated, One part of my mind wanted to believe that it was not Brooke who murdered her but another part suggested that it was her, I love that throughout the relationship between Brooke and Jake, you feel a bit uneasy about their relations, At the beginning, Jake seemed like a completely normal guy until you see his other side, I love that throughout the whole book, each chapter after the killings framed a new suspect, Personally, I thought it was Jake all along because of how skeptical he was being,
ANOTHER SPOILER
Probably my favourite chapter was when he was forcing Brooke to marry him because of the suspense but also the enticement.
BIGGEST SPOILER
When Brooke finally musters up her courage to trick Jake into thinking she was going to kill herself, he confesses, which in my opinion was the biggest plot twist in the whole book.
SPOILERS END
All in all, this was such a well written horror novel with a smidge of mystery to it, and it was so well written.
I definitely recommend.
Happy Reading,
Rebecca Tait
I didnt even want to put this book down! It had a grip on me from the very first chapter, read it indays!!! It made me want to watch the movie just so I can compare! Brooke is a normal teenager until a cheer injury leaves her with frontal lobe trauma.
After, she has a hard time containing her anger, leaving her prone to fits of rage on those close to her, This is made worse by drinking while on her medication, She meets a guy who seems absolutely perfect, but shortly after becomes super sketchy, After
passing out a party, she wakes up to find her best friend dead, She spends a short period of time thinking it was herself in a blacked out fit of rage, then soon finds out the truth was way more sinister.
I couldn't put this book down, When they take the helicopter to NY, it made me think of theShades series for some reason which I love, I called Jakes sketchiness after he showed up at school like a total stalker, I just thought he was abusive, so the twist with him was much appreciated, It was sad that Maddie and Brooke ended on such bad terms since they were such good friends, but in these situations I guess you don't have much of a choice.
The only bad thing I found with this book was a missing word in a sentence, About halfway down the page on pageit says "I am so in love you, Brooke Emerson, " Not a big deal as you can clearly understand what is being said, Overall I thought the book was very well written, and it kept you drawn in wanting to know what happens next, Brooke Emerson is the seemingly perfect girl, but inside she is completely lost, Ever since she sustained a head injury during a cheerleading stunt the previous year, shes suffered from a disorder that causes her to fly into uncontrollable violent rages IED.
As hard as she tries to keep it together, she finds herself in danger of jeopardizing her life,
It isnt until she meets Jake, a handsome and charismatic stranger, that she feels like shes found someone who not only understands her, but accepts her for who she is.
As tempting as it is to get swept up in the romance, she cant help but feel like something in their relationship isnt quite right.
When her best friend is brutally murdered, Brooke has no choice but to depend on her new love, . . especially because she's worried that she might be the killer,
My Rating /
This book was recommended to me by a friend, and I liked it a lot! It was very different from the other books I've been reading lately, which was a unique change of pace.
This book was a quick and short read, and I was hooked from the beginning, The plot was interesting, but also very predictable I knew almost exactly what the ending would look like from the beginning of the book, The real murder only happened around pageand then the hunt to find the killer happened faster than I would've liked, I loved how the author took the time to set up the characters but the book could have moved a bit slower to me, Nevertheless, I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who would enjoy a quick, thrilling murder mystery novel So I was really hoping that this book would be a real case but sadly it was not.
It was a good book but I had some problems, The real murder only happened around pageand then the hunt to find the killer happened so fast, I loved how the author took the time to set up the characters but the book could have moved a bit slower to me,
The actual murderer was obvious from the beginning so there was really no plot to it, You really just knew who the killer was from the first few chapters,
Overall I loved the characters and the loves how you got to know all of them but I was really disappointed with how quickly the case was solved.
No wonder this book was turned into a lifetime movie, . . The book I read was called Murdered atby Christine Conradt, Brooke's life changes as soon as she has her head injury that was caused by a cheer practice, She then got told by the doctors she has IED which means she has a very bad and aggressive temper, When she gets in a big fight with her best friend, she meets the "love of her life" or so she thinks, As she later learns that her "love of her life" is a bit possessive, She then later on goes to a party with her possessive boyfriend and she gets in another fight with her best friend, She wakes up to a knife and her dead best friend with blood everywhere, Did she actually just kill her best friend I didnt have a lot of expectations going into this, but I definitely was blown away, Near the end my hands were shaking a bit,
One major lesson that is NEVER in fiction like this and needs to be more often: If shit feels off or hits the fan, GO TELL YOUR MOM.
Or a trusted adult. Talk to your counselor. Just TALK to SOMEONE.from me.
This book totally felt like a lifetime movie and I enjoyed it in the same way I enjoy lifetime movies, I wouldnt go to the theaters to see it, but Im perfectly content spending the whole day curled up on the couch in my pjs doing nothing but watch one after another.
I hope that makes since, What Im saying is I liked it but I wasnt in love with it, It was cheesy and very predictable but it was a easy read and entertaining, But sometimes thats all you need, From a book or a movie so I would recommend it, .
