wasnt unfaithful. . she wasn't his sister. . she just falling in love with him, . march and liel : The will was outrageous, scandalous, . . and legal!

Inherited wealth sure wasn't what it was cracked up to be, what with Lyle Hetherington hellbent on making Kelsa's life one unpleasant confrontation after another.

Mind you, Kelsa could certainly understand why Lyle might feel a bit peeved, His father had left hera mere employeehalf of his vast empire, And while Kelsa had gotten on well with her late boss, a bequest like that was ridiculous!

So why in the world had he done it It certainly wasn't for the reason his son arrogantly assumed, as Kelsa hadn't been the old man's mistress.
But try telling that to Lyle Hetherington! Good story and characters but too much explaining and not enough showing,

Two years later reread by accident, didnt remember it at which says it all, Parts were ok but the ending lasted far too long, I quit aboutpages before author mercifully stopped, and had already waded throughpages of wrap up,

Kelsa ,theyear old heroin, has worked for Hetheringtons formonths when she meets her boss's son ,Lyle the hero, who takes an instant dislike to her.
Turns out that he thinks shes having an affair whit his father which of course shes not He calls her all sorts of things and is generally mean to her.
Since this is a Jessica Steele book, the h acts all martyry, and takes it whiteout a protest, Then the Hs father dies and, wouldn't you know it, he leaves half of the company to the baffled h! The H is unamused and more verbal abuse ensues.
Then the H discovers a birth certificate and he now believes that the h is his sister, She however shows him her own certificate, It turns out that her mother had an affair whit the Hs father and she got pregnant and the Hs father abandoned her before the child was borne this was two years before the h was borne.
That child died but the father never found out so he believed the H to be that child, his daughter.
Now the path is clear for the H and h but the Hs meddling mother gets in the way, But everything is eventually resolved and HEA,

As in all of Steeles books the heroin is an innocent virgin and stoically takes all that the hero dishes out and doesn't defend her self.
This can get a bit tedious, But I still like her books, Definitely had to read this one immediately following the similarly titled, similarly plotted, JS I read yesterday,

This one's a bit better, by comparison, and while there's parallels, it's not a retread,

There is another "history repeats itself" in the relationship dynamic, Father/son hero drawn with immediate compulsionlove to the mother/daughter heroine, The hero's version of this is good, the father is a somewhat cowardly cad explained away as driving ambition trumping all else, the heroine is good, the mother's actions explained away as naive and impressionable but otherwise she's a nonentity.

There's also a whole lot of explaining and exposition and it gets weighty, But the misunderstandings and crossed wires mostly made sense and with less contrivance,

It's interesting the moral ambiguity that JS wades into here, She allows several secondary characters their fundamental flaws and errorsas well as inner woundsand none is an outright villain, including the hero's mother who could easily have been drawn with much more cliche exaggeration.

I like the heroine, She's sheltered but smart, is given extraordinary opportunities but proves herself, and does have victories and strengths and her own goalsshe's not simply swept along by events or ineffectual against the tide.

It was the right call that the hero saw and loveatfirstsight doing so her before the whole debacle and misunderstandings begin.
His Final Chapter Grovel is all the richer for it too, His upset at her being his sister and then RELIEF to have it confirmed she was not was great, although only seen as an undercurrent, natch.

Solid, some nice pops of good chemistry, but won't rise to be a fave JS,

I really really thought the hero was going to spy the basket of flowers the heroine just couldn't make herself toss in the bin during the Grovel, and gain confidence and insight from that.
Didn't happen! I'm disappointed, lol, H/h fall for each other, but misunderstandings and a great deal of slutshaming keep them apart, The misunderstandings:
Hero thinks heroine is his fathers mistress because shes beautiful and young,
She was promoted to his fathers office after three months on the job,
He sees his father go into heroines apartment, He sees them dining together,
His father leaves her half his company in his will,

Hero then thinks she is sister,

It all too complicated, but rest assured that JS explains it all and ties off every plot thread with a sturdy knot.
JS isnt the most romantic writer, but her tidy stories have an appeal of their own,
Jessica Steele is on auto buy for me, even though she only writes Harlequin Romances and some Hqn Presents.
She is now aboutyears old, sad to say,

Steele is a quirky writer, in terms of syntax, grammar, etc, Her sentence construction is unusual.

But she is among the best at Hqn in terms of storytelling, dialogue, and sexual tension.
Also, her characters make me chuckle sometimes, I love her books even the ones I only rate three are good,

Most of Jessica Steele's books follow a pattern, or formula, The plot goes something like this: Her heroes are always wealthy, worldwise, dashing, and debonaire, like Cary Grant, Her heroines are always beautiful virgins,

so no sex usually and the wanting always drives the heroes nuts, But usually, the hero starts off on the wrong foot, thinking the gal did something terrible embezzle, cheat, steal, sleep around, etc, so he is nasty, cold and ruthless.
Steele's heroes always endure internal conflict, because they think they are falling in love with a shady character.
So they blow hot and cold and generally mess it all up, Ha ha! Later, when they realize how wrong they've been, they sweat it out! Sometimes they grovel I like a good grovel.
: دليل الاتهام جيسيكا ستيل "Relative Values" is the story of Kelsa and Lyle,

If you be very quiet, and pay attention, you can hear the hero screeching in the background, Yup, that's him.

In this nursery I mean love story big bad man hero is mean to the heroine because he wuves her.
I mean, she goes from being accused of being his father's mistress, to his suspected sister, to his girlfriend in the blink of an eye this is while pins the responsibility of everything under the sun on her.
Furthermore, I think I could hear him screaming and arguing through the pages, Also, why do heroines get off on being insulted, I'll take self respect for hundred pounds please,

Insanity.
