With well developed characters sharing a past full of heartbreak and loss, this is a sweet story of love lost and found.
If you want a contemporary romance holiday story, but dont have a lot of time, this might be worth the read,
My :
This was a short story, but it was really good, This setup works because it's a second chance at love story, Graham and Grace were married until two years ago when their lives fell apart after their prematurely born son died, But because they have that rich history between them, a romance built in a short amount of time works,

But they are divorced and while they haven't had an angry breakup, it's definitely been uncomfortable, So neither one is really thrilled when they end up in a roadtrip together driving through a blizzard,

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this one, I enjoy second chance at love stories and add a holiday story on top of that and this was a real winner in my book.
Although I have a couple of Miranda Liasson's books in my tbr, this is my first actual book of hers that I've read.
Well, after this one, I can guarantee that it won't be my last, I need to catch up on this particular series, because there were a few characters that showed up in the town bar that I was definitely intrigued about.

But for a quick holiday read, this is a good one, I definitely recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review, After suffering the loss of a baby, Graham and Grace retreat within themselves, Not knowing how to handle their grief, they become obsessed with their careers, drifting apart, A couple of years after the divorce, Graham finds himself outside a bookstore where Grace is signing books for children, Under the guise of having a book signed for his niece, Graham steps in line,

With an impending snow storm approaching, Grace is trying to sign the books quickly so everyone can get home safely, Grace has also promised to do another signing in Philadelphia Christmas Eve and doesn't want to be snowed in, When Grace discovers transportation via train or plane have been delayed or canceled, Graham comes to the rescue and offers to drive, Graham also needs to get to Philly before his brother is deployed,

While driving, the snowstorm worsens until driving conditions are treacherous, Graham runs into a deer and is knocked unconscious, Fearing that Graham may never wake up, Grace realizes she's still in love with him, but doesn't know if she can trust him with her heart again.
After getting checked out in the hospital, Graham and Grace are taken to the hotel in Mirror Lake, As Grace takes care of Graham, he realizes he wants to try again, He decides to lay it on the line and tell Grace how he feels,

This was a wonderful second chance romance novel, It was touching, sweet, courageousall with a little bit of Christmas magic mixed in the story, I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own, If you want something Christmasy to read this is a quick fix that can entertain you as youre trying to decompress from the holiday stress or on a car ride over to your inlaws to put you into a more positive spirit.

Liasson unveils her story through Graham and Grace who are trying to navigate the holiday as exes instead of as a married couple.
The way she portrayed the emotional rawness of their feelings towards one another was surprisingly good for such a short story, She didnt have many pages to draw out their relationship and provide adequate background yet somehow she still managed to create a believable and realistic story of their life.
The fact that this is a couple who has already been married made it easier to believe in the quick chemistry since it would make sense that if it was there once it could be there again.

The common yet difficult issues of loss, broken dreams, conflict and postdivorce tension were captured realistically and wellwritten just as were the lingering feelings, what ifs and obvious still there chemistry.

Liasson made me want them to get back together, to find a way to work through their issues as individuals and as a couple.
I ended up liking the writing so much I want to dive into more of her books to see how she holds up over longer plots.
A standalone Mirror Lake Christmas novella

Here comes a charming standalone Christmas novella by Amazon bestselling author Miranda Liasson, Fans of both Mirror Lake series will recognize familiar elements and people along the way,

Its two days before Christmas and bestselling childrens author Grace Alberts needs to fulfill a promiseto make it to a book signing for the kids at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, the place that did so much for her during a very rough time.
But the weathers getting awful and all flights are cancelled out of Boston, where shes wrapping up her book tour, Then in walks her annoying but extremely sexy exhusband, who as usual thinks hes got all the answers,

Graham Walker just stopped by to get a book signed for Graces biggest fan, his niece, and wish Grace a Merry Christmaswhy not But he soon finds himself troubleshooting her dilemma.
Hes got a Range Rover that can plow through a hundredyear Noreaster, Hes even headed home to Philly, Trouble is, Grace's and his past is a disaster, something he has no intention of reliving while driving through a winter storm, no matter how much he once loved her.
And maybe still does.

Bad weather has a way of bringing out the best and the worst in people, and when a run in with some deer antlers leads them to a forced stop in Mirror Lake, Connecticut, anything can happen, naughty or nice.
Maybe a bit of enforced alone time and some Christmas magic can be just what it takes for them to face their pastand each otheronce and for all.

Second chance holiday romance FTW!
Can't Miss Christmas takes place in Ms, Liasson's sitelinkMirror Lake world as does her sitelinkSpikonos Brothers series but introduces two brand new characters, temporarily stranded from out of town so it would work for people new to the series as well as those who are waiting for the last Spikonos brother to come back into town which he may or may not have done here.
. . The glimpses we get of Mirror Lake/Spikonos Brothers characters are fleeting, so really, this is great as both a standalone romance and a teaser for other books you'll probably be adding to your TBR in the future.

Plus, holiday romance! Did I mention

is a quick read, so it's perfect for when you're busy with holiday stuff/NaNoWriMo/regular life but just need a quick pickmeup.
Grace and Graham were married once but their responses to a shared tragedy and some misunderstandings pulled them apart, It's Christmastime, though, and a surprise encounter, a snowstorm, Mother Nature, and the town of Mirror Lake all conspire to bring them back together.
Is it too late

Spoiler alert: of course not! The magic of Christmas and secondchance romance to the rescue!

A sweet read whether you're new to Ms.
Liasson's books or already a fan,

Rating:/ B

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book,

Graham Walker is passing by the bookstore where his ex wife is signing her latest children's book just two days before Christmas when he thinks perhaps he should stop in, say hi and pick up a book for his niece.
After entering and seeing the crowd and knowing he has quite the long drive ahead Graham thinks twice but is stopped before leaving.
When Graham is ushered up to his ex he overhears her travel problems due to the weather and before he knows it he is offering to drive her to her next signing at a children's hospital in Philadelphia.

Grace Alberts never thought she would be climbing into a car in a snowstorm with her exhusband just two days before Christmas but with no other options she reluctantly agreed to the ride.
After some awkward conversation the couple finally seem to just starting to relax around one another when a deer pops out of nowhere and they find themselves stuck in Mirror Lake, Connecticut facing all the problems that were never resolved between them and the love they still feel for one another.

Can't Miss Christmas by Miranda Liasson is a contemporary romance novella that is a part of the Mirror Lake series, As with most romance series out there this can be read fine as a standalone book with new main characters involved in this holiday read.
For the fans of the series overall though there will be mentions here and there of previous characters in the very small town of Mirror Lake.

I will say this one was a bit deceiving in looks, I was expecting a cute, light holiday romance when picking up this novella and while it is written with holiday hope in mind the story is one that was quite heartbreaking reading about.
A couple coming back together to work things out is perfect for a novella length read since the reader knows they have a history and chemistry between them but this particular couple had split apart after the loss of their child so it's quite touching.
With great writing and an emotional tale to bring tears to the eyes this was a quite the lovely holiday read,

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley,

stars.

Sweet and tender Christmas romance novella, This is a second chance love story that also revisits the "Mirror Lake" community, It has all the author's trademark small town romance "feels",
I enjoyed it very much, Great holiday read.
p. s. for all Miranda Liasson fans and I am one it gives you a glimmer and also hints about a new upcoming book involving the last Spikonos brother Jared.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review,

with the woman he's never stopped loving.
Yet, the more time they spend together, the more Graham and Grace find themselves wanting a second chance together, Will the pair be able to overcome the pain of their past to have a second chance together, or is their past too painful to ever be able to fully overcome

If you haven't had the opportunity to read Ms.
Liasson's Mirror Lake series, then you're missing out on some absolutely captivating reading that will leave you wanting to read more books by this author, especially when it comes to this series.
And so, with this book being a novella, it was a very quick read for me about the magic of Christmas and how it helps a divorced couple find their way back to each other.
The way this story started drew me in immediately due to the fact that Grace and Graham are total opposites and the moment they come together for the first time was definitely very interesting, as there's so much chemistry between these two, and yet, there's so much hurt too because of what happened in the past and how they didn't handle their grief well to be able to help each other through a tough time in their lives.

As for the dialogue, it was wellwritten and a wonderful combination of intense and emotional moments as well as compelling banter between this couple that had me reading this story in under an hour.
Moreover, both the hero and heroine have been through so much and it's made them the strong characters they are, yet they're definitely better together than they are apart since neither has stopped loving the other.
With the heroine, she's resilient, smart, hardworking and I liked how determined she was to brighten a kid's life with her books, While the hero, I liked how determined he was to show the heroine that they deserve a second chance, especially after the moment where something worse could have happened to the couple than what did happen while on their journey to Philadelphia.

Overall, Ms. Liasson has penned a very quick and outstanding novella for her Mirror Lake series where the chemistry between this couple was as strong as ever the romance nicelydetailed and does justice to this couple's chemistry really well and the ending left me totally spellbound by Graham's actions because there's nothing Grace could say or do that would keep him away because they deserve their second chance at love.
I would recommend Can't Miss Christmas by Miranda Liasson, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope, second chance romances, or books by authors Catherine Bybee, Marina Adair, Jenna BayleyBurke and Jamie Beck.
