Snag Take A Hike, Miles And Spike! Created By Travis Foster Distributed As Interactive EBook
story filled with different versions of "see you later alligator" and a lesson on kindness, Would make a funny read aloud for younger elementary children, I liked the different goodbye sayings for the book, but I had to fully pay attention to the pictures to understand the story, Halfway through the story, I had to double back to see what Miles and Spike were doing, Thank you kidlitexchange for sharing a review copy of this book,
Take a Hike, Miles and Spike! is a very silly book, These two are going on an outdoor adventure while learning the importance of having friends, The funny wordplay on each page is repeated in this house now! Take Care Grizzly Bear! One note is the word dumb is used once in the book, I have a thing about that word so skipped that page, My kids really enjoyed this book! I am sure we will be saying these silly phrases all summer! Release date is this August!
,
Humorous rhyming book, solid choice for preschool story time, Recommended for ages. Just a bit overthetop, but it might be fun with two readers in storytime, I'm impressed with the amount of animal rhymes the creators came up with! kidlitexchange partner Thank you, KidLit Exchange network for the review copy of this book! Opinion is my own! FUN, rhyming story about Miles and Spike two friends who want to go camping but who are annoying all of their friends with their plans.
. . great for teaching about rhyming words and even a good friendship story! This book comes out August! bookaday booksiread bookreview readaloud chroniclebooks A cautionary tale on exclusivity, Also a great pairing for my goodbye signoff for Summer Library:
sitelink youtube. com/watchvnKUpF "See you later, alligator! After while, crocodile, " This book is a continuation of that! With a little added extra, He didn't like the main character's Silly rhymes and comic illustrations move this story along about two friends spending time in the woods while not being very courteous to those around them.
Funny. The illustrations really tell the story while you read silly rhymes along the way, Take care, GRIZZLY BEAR! Stay loose, MOOSE! Buhbye, BUTTERFLY! Join Miles and Spike as they take a hike, . . and a few provisions, as well, much to the vexation of their fellow forest creatures, Travis Foster and Ethan Long offer a hilarious picture book full of silly rhymes, outdoor adventures, and learning how to get along with others, Storytime book! SM My readers who like sayings like see you later alligator will enjoy reading this story, Perfect for reading aloud because of all the rhyming words, this picture book also contains a message about how to treat others, Good friends Miles and Spike are ready to set off on a hike, but they are dismissive and inconsiderate of the other animals who are watching them make preparations, After they have overpacked and cannot move their backpack, they go a step too far and offend the otter, That's the last straw, and the other animals let them know just how they feel, Chagrined, the two friends decide to include the others in their plans, The illustrations feature bright colors and lively, large fonts as well as some increasingly annoyed animals, Dogs Miles and Spike say goodby in rhyme to all the forest animals before heading out on their hike, Along the way they destroy the animals' habitats, When the other animals finally band together to tell Miles and Spike to take a hike, the dogs admit to going overboard, They spend the last few spreads returning much of what they had taken for themselves, Funny and punny A humorous rhyming story that demonstrates the importance of being thoughtful and kind,
Friends Miles and Spike decide to take a hike in the woods, much to their friends' chagrin, As they go about damaging/destroying the woods while gathering treasures for their backpack, they rather rudely brush off the other animals in the woods, Once their backpack is bursting and discover that they are out
of water to drink, the other animals who are angered at their rudeness yell for them to "Take a hike!" Miles and Spike look around and see the damage left behind and recognizing their rudeness, make amends.
NOTE: Travis Foster and Ethan Long are both credited with being the authors and illustrators of this book,
Oh what fun this is to read! The cliches in the book help make this funny, Kids will love the rhyming nature of them, Miles and Spike are redeemed by the end, as they are remorseful for their actions and try to make amends with their friends, Illustrations in the book were rendered in Sharpie on copy paper, then scanned and digitally colored, Backgrounds are a solid color, with vegetation and background characters drawn in a darker shade of that same color, The focal action is in color with word balloons in white, making them pop off the page, While there are a few words that might cause firsttime readers to stumble, the picture cues will make it a breeze to read the second time around, Sentences are short, most action is visual,
This beginning reader/picture book would make a great reader's theater script for a class to write,
Recommended for PreSchoolst grade, kidlitexchange partner all opinions are my own,
Miles and Spike set off on an adventure and take anything they want along the way, irritating all the forest animals in their path with their flippant rhymes and selfish attitudes.
Thankfully they apologize and realize its better to have friends than possessions, Bright illustrations and fun rhymes will draw readers and listeners into the story, Miles and Spike pick up all sort of interesting objects on their quest to take an epic hike, One thing they don't take is a hint, All of the other forest animals get pushed aside as the duo steadily collect objects from their forest friends, This book could be use to start a conversation about being self aware, It's also a great book visually and can be used to for a book walk, If just read aloud, it's a collection of "see you later, alligator" goodbyes, The pictures tell a very good story, though! Miles and Spike are blithely preparing for a camping trip, taking no notice of the effect they're having on the forest residents.
Luckily, the animals band together and point out the error of their ways before any irreparable damage happens! This would make a fun read aloud! Illustrations are cute, and it's basically a silly "See you later, alligator!" story.
. . but the word DUMB is said out of theor so words in the whole book! and I thought it was super unnecessary, Know your audience, authors I can't read this aloud to a group of little kids when it uses the "d word!"
