wanted to enjoy this, but it starts off with a common misunderstanding of Constantine and Nicaea that theres no historical evidence for,
Im very open to alternative narratives, mystical experience, or even historical fiction, If I read it as the latter, it was compelling and fun enough, but I kept remembering, “but its being presented as fact!”
The spirituality and Christology stands against both orthodox Christian views AND historical Gnosticism, which means that nobody got this spiritual stuff right until we could finally have some mystical with disposable income and time to travel the world doing meditation workshops.
Then, once they got commissioned, they discovered that Jesus escaped in a cart to Europe, I mean I like white people too, but good golly!
Specific errors abound, but one that comes to mind is the conclusion that the preserved Aramaic, “Eli Eli, lama sabachtani” is proof positive that Jesus had a spirit guide named Elijah who later was revealed as the archangel metatron evidently is spurious.
The name “Eli” need not as the surrounding observers believed call specifically to the prophet Elijah, Obviously its derived from
The Hebrew, in which case:
Its just a aleph lamed yod, so an “el” God, with a yod which makes it possessive, thus we have “My God.
”
Now, this was obviously a part of Elijahs name, but the context of the verse additionally all subsequent interpretations/translations literally ever indicate that this is a call to God, not to the prophet.
However, this book was good for making me reflect on the unreliability of personal or even corporate mystical experiences, I get why someone seeing these things might believe what they believe, but the problem is theyre not just up against church propaganda, theyre also up against every secular historian ever.
I mean is there anyone who could, with a straight face, suggest that the history of biblical scholarship has been sanctimonious preservation of church dogma No way!
I had to finish this book and immediately listen to some Matisyahu, because even Chasidic Judaism is less disparaging to the name of Christ than this book! Inspiring book explaining what actually happened, years ago based on historical facts along with three years of orchestrated synchronicities that happened to the author.
Some of it resonated with me, some did not, but it was a beautiful read nevertheless, Librarian Note: There are than one author in the Goodreads database with this name, Others: sitelink DavidYoung: Religion, Christian sitelink DavidYoung: GR Author, Photography sitelink DavidYoung: GR Author, Fiction, Childrens sitelink DavidYoung: New Zealand author, Environmental sitelink DavidYoung: Fiction, Mystery Thriller sitelink DavidYoung: Fiction, Thailand
