Find Cosa Nostra (Kids Of The District #2) Authored By Nicci Harris Document
thing and Cosa nostra by Nicci Harris
I read the two books combined in a single book,so it's a joint review!
Strictly
TW:Sexual assault,violence,abuse,gore,blood,death
Oof I'll call this EMOTIONAL EROTICA than mafia romance
I loved Moody Broody Max and Cute Clever CassidyMore than anyone else,I resonated with Toni because just like him,I'm the goto person for innuendos in my friends circle so much so that if I'm being serious, people are still trying to figure out what's the joke there
Bronson's character somehow tells me he has a deep ache and profound grief that makes him mask himself with humor and sarcasm
"You're an asset.
Leverage. This is what they do, It's the long game. It doesn't look that bad at first, which is how you miss it, It's a favour. It's a kindness. It's a sponsorship. But then they have claws in every part of your life and one day, you sit up and wonder how youd gotten in so deep.
. . "
Shudder right
Chof bookOur thing, deserves special mention because until then the story was oscillating between romance and the sneak peeks of mafia in the District and what secrets lay therein.
. but this chapter this chapter explained "A thief is a criminal until he's stealing to feed his kin, A neglectful mother is a bad mother until she is working two jobs to give her children the best opportunities.
A gun is terrifying until it's what's keeping you safe, and then you're terrified without it, " which Cassidy thinks in a chapter long before this one, . . The way she was frozen but later stood up for herself and like desperate times call for desperate measures, she just did it!I loved her more in this chapter.
Okay,so I wanted to review this yesterday but saw that bookCosa nostra, was right there after book,so.
here I am!
I cried after Carter's story
I cried during chaptersampas well
Sooo,Nicci are you fond of those chapter numbers or what
I loved that the penalty wasn't overridden by using influence.
That was the real test of love,to endure,to wait, although love shouldn't be tested, should be cherished,
Lastly,DO NOT bring your feminist brain here,it's for your closet romantic with grey areas, for the duetamp,
Max
aka Menace
Bad Boy of District
Gangster
Cassidy
aka little one
Golden Girl of District
Ballerina
Look, everyone knows I don't do New Adults.
What I mean is characters undery/o, big drama without events, light intensity of intimacy why the fuck im being decent.
Also don't do "adult" books with light intensity which you pp should call that NA too, Also it make my laugh when I read "dark" romance with teenagers,
This duet is a damn good adult romance with damn good any kind of intimacy between young lovers.
They are young, beautiful and in love in husky old man voice,
He is a manwhore and don't want commitment, she is virgin and already in love,
They agree to no relationship,
But he falls and falls hard,
The good thing is sure he's a bad boy and avoids affection at first, but he is not a jerk either.
Delicious. Delicious. Delicious.
I don't do NAs however I fucking love reading young lovers who can be reckless, silly, and mature at the same time.
Or how he becomes more and more possessive, how she stands her ground for all Butchers, . .
The story is not dark but not a sugar cake either, IMO it was handled well, I liked the trauma of her abuse, the way he treat and take care of her.
. .
You know, a handsome huge gangster is considerate and patient more than you and same time dying from his longing for you and same time boiling for revenge for who did this to you.
Could be shorter yet it didn't bother me much cuz' it was more of romance not the mafia thing.
I didn't like cliffhanger at the end, if so it should be told, like
I,I loved this book even more than the first! I miss Max amp Cassidy so much already
need more daddaugther scene, I need it
xoxoxo

Ok the first half was probably astar read for me.
The dialogue was done soooo much better and overall I enjoyed the writing a lot more! Understandably Cassidy was still dealing with the effects of her attack, she was trying to come to terms with the reality of Maxs world and Max was still wracked with guilt over what happened to her and wanted her protected and safe at all times.
I appreciated these things but they did get a little repetitive, I really enjoyed Max and Konners storylines though and what bumped up my rating was the second half of the book and my overwhelming love of these characters! The Butcher boys and their love for Cassidy was the most adorable thing ever! Xander was such a sweet angel baby and Bronson amp Cassidys friendship remains my favourite thing ever
While in real life I appreciate Cassidys familys concerns about how controlling Max came off, but when Im reading these types of books I leave my feminism at the door and choose to see his “overbearingness” as “protective” He probably didnt help his case by snapping at anyone who tried to come between them, including her siblings Their dynamic may not have seemed balanced but they were each others anchors and it was actually so beautiful to see.
The events that take place at the end were so bittersweet which was only driven home but Niccis letter afterwards! Maxs letter made me cry and Niccis kept those tears flowing I miss this couple so much already and I hope we still get to see a lot of them throughout the rest of the series
There are no words for how excited I am for my baby Bronsons book!!! Running to read it immediately

STARS
ok, this book is too good, This book is the continuation of the previous one so has to be read in order, this one has so much more depth to it than the last one,
The events right from, Cassidy coping with the trauma, to getting pregnant than the arrestwhich was heartbreaking, I felt like maybe at the end he would by some way or the other not go to jail but he didwhich if you see from the law point of view is correct because he did horrendous thongs but for Cassidy, kelly it felt unfair
Amazing love story.
It had all the feels and emotions,
I wish threre was an extended epilogue though, A look into the life that Max amp Cassidy built for Kelly and hopefully more babies,
Chapter"I love you Max Butcher," I whisper, "I don't deserve you" he presses his lips to mine "Cassidy Slater, I'm keeping you anyway. "
Chapterdirty mouth Max to Cassidy "I'm going to find a place tonight to shove my cock into your mouth for calling me a gentleman.
Then I'm going to wash that word down your throat with my cum, " My lips part and I swallow hard,
Chapter"You're my life, Cassidy Slater, " "Now with your perfect face, While you're so beautiful it fucking hurts, And when your belly is swollen with my babies and you're grumpy And pain one the arse, then too, And when you're old and grey and for some fucking reason still putting up with all my shit, You're my life. "
ChapterMax to his dad "Look after my wife, "
Chapter"Were you ever going to tell me that you love me, Max" He smiles softly, "If I don't will you still know" "Yes, "
Chapter/Max's letter
ChapterI love yous "Look what you made me while I was gone.
. . She's fucking incredible, Thank you, little one. "
Toni:
He is by far the best secondary character ever,
He seriously cracked me up, Some of the phrases he used, "oh my giddy aunt"
He was an amazing best friend and confident Cassidy.
Again all the secondary characters were amazing, Besides Toni, my favorites were Carter Cassidy's body guard, Bronson, Xander, and Butch, Great series! Cover was better on this one but after the second book it was apparent that Max and Cassidy needed more chapters.
This third book seems to ties in the first and second together so reading in order is a must,
What did I like So much has happened between Max and his ballerina that you can feel him willing to be better for her.
Konnor and Blesk also appear in this book and we see some closure there as well, I hope we get more of the other brothers, I stayed up all night finishing these three books, So worth it!
Would I recommend or buy Yes, in fact Im hoping there are more stories about the other brothers coming.
Id recommend to mafia lovers or possessive book boyfriends,
I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!stars
This book was waaaay better than the first one.
I enjoyed Cassidy's character a lot more, and it was kind of expected after what happened to her at the ending of the last book.
I loved that we got Max's POV, and I'm a sucker for "i only have a soft spot for her" kind of MMC, specially in mafia romances.
The lastgot me screaming and teeny tiny spoiler next, the chapter that is basically a letter from Max to Cassidy that has "I love you" written for every day he could be away, AND CONSIDERING IT WAS THE FIRST TIME HE SAID IT he showed it, but never actually had said those three words got me screaming.
Also, another spoiler ahead, but a pretty deal breaker for a lot of people: that pregnacy trope came OUT OF NOWHERE jajajaja, and actually made the ending more emotional.
I would recomend it to anyone who wants to read a book with romance, a bit of a mafia vibe but with pretty young characters and is willing to wait till bookfor the story to really get interesting.
The Kids of the District series is "A Flawless contemporary romance, "
Reading the Kids of the District series feels like gorging on a deliciously scrumptious cake, despite knowing it's gonna be bad and hurt you irrevocably in the end, you just cannot help yourself from devouring it.
Like an addict, you keep coming back to satiate the need to escape into the district,
I honestly do not know what "evil genius mastermind" class Nicci Harris took but I need to book a spot because this series is deceptively clever.
The buildup of Cassidy and Max's relationship is a refined agony, honed throughout the previous book and unleashed with a ferocity only Nicci could create.
I relish the elevated romance within Cosa Nostra as the lines between love, desire, and obsession begin to blur creating an eruption of forbidden passion and ecstasy.
Max and Cassidy's relationship is the type of love story that you love to hate, innately they know its bad for them, but like a slut for punishment they pursue it anyway because in the immortal words of Cassidy, "avoiding conflict to prevent a battle, can often start a war on your heart.
"
Max is the quintessential bad boy mafia alpha hole and while I loved how raw and carnal his character was, my favorite moments were the quiet spaces in between, where he allowed himself to be vulnerable or at least attempted to for Cassidy.
Exhibit A "I want to fck that sorrow out of her Her sorrow makes me want to set the earth on fire.
"
Exhibit B "I may not be able to give her a fairytale, But she gives me a break from this nightmare, "
I enjoyed the complexity of Cassidy's character and the tremendous growth she's made throughout the series, The district's darling has seen the seedy underbelly of Max's reality and the dark encounters threaten to consume her entirely.
As she picks up the broken puzzle pieces of her life and begins arranging them, Cassidy truly begins to mature and I couldn't help but tear up to see my little girl all grown up.
"He's scaring me, And it's killing him. It's breaking me"
Oh Nicci Nicci Nicci, just when I thought my poor heart couldn't take another beating you reached through the pages, ripped it out, and ran it through the grinder shredding me completely.
I mean, holy fking plot twist! The last couple of chapters honestly floored me with an overwhelming surge of emotions.
Cosa Nostra is the epitome of exquisite torture and I am unashamed to admit that I ugly cried, While I finally got my answers from book one, I couldn't help the crushing sense of finality that comes with the end.
In true Nicci fashion, she doesn't give you the ending you've been dreaming about and wishing on a star for, oh no, that would be too humane, instead, she serves it up true District style with an intricately woven finale that is equal parts raw, messy complicated and oddly fulfilling.
The Kids of the District is not your average story, but then as a reader, do you really want that
Thanks to the author for providing me with an arc in exchange for my honest review.
