Thought it was good for a Romantic Suspense Book! Silver Rothchild, former pop sensation, has one last chance at a comeback courtesy of her stepfather.
The only condition shes not to do anything that would make her tabloid fodder once again, That might be a problem, since shes just learned shes about to become a mommy,

She might not live into motherhood, though, since theres a killer after the entire Rothchild clan and shes apparently his next intended victim, But lucky for her, stepdaddy dearest has hired Delta operative Austin Dearing to protect her, But who will protect her from heartbreak when the protection detail is over

Surprisingly, considering the theme a star and her bodyguard, I actually liked this one, A lot.
Theres always a tender balance between to be maintained in such stories, unless you want them to be drowned in cheese, and Ms, Dees, IMHO, succeeded marvelously.

The pacing was great, there wasnt a slow spot in the book, despite the suspense being pushed a little to the sidelines, And the two leads were almost picture perfect for the story, And each other. Usually one of the two goes a little over the top the hero with his alphaness, the heroine with her stardom status, but these two hovered somewhere in between,
The romance was nice, a bit rushed at the beginning, but splendidly concluded, the chemistry was sizzling, contributing a little to the whole rushed feelings at the start of the storyThey were just great together and reading about them was a truly good reading experience.

Now to the suspense, Kudos to the author for throwing a wrench into the cogs of the main arc, with an additional villain that wasnt so murderously intent on, well, murder, There was in fact very little info on the main villain, though we were provided with some more tidbits about the whole investigation,
All in all, a good, solid suspense subplot, overshadowed a bit with the whole romance development between the Austin and Silver,

Since this is a multiauthor miniseries, the inconsistencies were present, but not bothersome enough to prevent me from enjoying the story, Two were glaring, though, and should be mentioned, In the first book, the author implied no one knew

who the father of Candaces the murder victim kids was, Suddenly, they all knew, and the two boys actually had the same father, Go figure. The second inconsistency was the sudden hatchet burial between the two branches of the Rothchilds, In the first story Natalie didnt give the impression of actually liking Conner, her cousin, while in this one they were suddenly buddybuddies, Hm.
But as I said, they were minor inconsistencies and have to be taken in stride,

Overall, great characterization, good, sizzling chemistry, loads of sleaze courtesy of Silvers "former" bodyguard, great tension, and good, though pushed into the background suspense,½
