book lived up to its title it was sweet AND dirty, The first story introduced us to Michelle originally from Alabama, she is trying to reinvent herself in LA, She meets Ro in a fetish shop, where she is buying dog collars under orders from her boss at the dog day care, where she works.
Ro invites her to his new club The Dungeon, and Michelle goes hoping to learn how to be more dominant,

I enjoyed getting to know these characters we learn about their pasts, and I feel like I could really connect with them.
It was endearing to watch Michelle struggle with trying to be more dominant, when really she just needed to accept her submissive side and embrace it.
I loved the scenes with her and Ro the tension was delicious, While labeled and erotic romance and involving BDSM the language used was much milder than other erotic romances I've read recently, so that's where the sweet comes in.


The second story features Nora and Ryan an engaged power couple heading to a B amp B for a romantic getaway but it stands for Bondage amp Breakfast.
I did not like Ryan immediately and found myself hoping Nora ditched him soon, Nora was awesome strong, independent, yet finding she may enjoy some of the darker sides of BDSM, Sylvester YUM The scenes between him and Nora are absolutely delicious with tension, I love that he holds himself away from her for so long, The buildup to the finale was awesome,

This story had stronger and darker subjects than the first one but again, the language was mild, This didn't bother me, but I did actually check the spine to see if it was labeled erotic romance it is, : There was new BDSM in this story that I was unaware of the use of electricity interesting, Also there is discussion and the acting out of pretend rape so if that bothers you, you may want to skip this, There is always the option of a safe word she isn't really being raped but her fantasy was to be taken against her will, and it is acted out.

Overall, I enjoyed both stories, I connected to the characters, I found myself rooting for them or booing them, I loved the scenes of sexual tension, I also loved the BDSM, Both heroines are introduced into the world of BDSM and it was nice to watch their discoveries, Nora took to it like she was meant for the lifestyle, Michelle enjoyed it at first because she thought she was learning how to be more dominant and aggressive in life, while really learning about herself.
I also enjoyed watching the heroes interact with the women, Ro takes to Michelle immediately and woos her, while Sylvester is attracted to Nora, but holds himself away from her because he doesn't trust himself or women anymore.
He even pushes her onto the other men in the BampB,

I live in a small townhours from the nearest "big city", I would love if places like these actually existed for people to explore their curiosities, The more BDSM I read, the more curious I am and the more I want to experience what the heroines in the books experience.

If you're looking for sweet erotica with a side of BDSM, this book is for you, It's a quick read and well worth the time, I enjoyed it. A Discovery of Personal Limits and Desires in these BDSM romances

I enjoyed many aspects about this anthology of two novellas by Christina Crooks, and there were definitely some elements that pushed the boundaries of my comfort level not that there is anything wrong with that.
That being said, there were also a few things that were disappointing,

"Baring it All" was much more of a traditional BDSM romance, I liked Michelle and Ro's story and liked that the heroine was trying out the lifestyle in order to learn to be more in control of her life.
However, I thought the secondary story about her exboyfriend exploring and discovering his homosexuality was unnecessary and distracted from the main love story that I was more interested in.
Considering this was a novella instead of a full length novel I wished that this time would have been spent on the developing relationship between the hero and the heroine because I felt that we were left with the possibility of love, rather than having the type of HEA that I like at the end of a story.


The second novella in this anthology is "Forbidden Heat", It is a more extreme and intense story than "Baring it All", And while some of the BDSM practices left me uncomfortable and pushed the boundaries of what I like to read in romance questioning how something described as pain could in fact be pleasurable I was immediately drawn into this story.


"Forbidden Heat" is mostly about Nora's self discovery within the context of the BDSM world, Nora is a heroine, much like many women today, who struggle with the demands of a successful career, and being able to give up control, and trust to someone else in their personal life.
Sylvester, was a very interesting hero, He embraces the lifestyle and has created the BampB as a safe and consensual environment for people like himself to enjoy themselves, while also using it as a way to distance himself from his own desires.
One past experience that went amiss has left him shaken and wary of letting go to his baser instincts, which prevents him from engaging the way he would like with a submissive partner like Nora.


Even though Nora didn't expect to spend the weekend in a BDSM resort, she embraces the experience and explores bondage, electric shock stimulation, and her most secret desire.
. . to enact a rape fantasy, As previously mentioned this story is much more extreme and intense at least for me, and while some of the situations the characters find themselves in made me uncomfortable, I did feel that this was the stronger of the two stories.


Sylvester's need to dominate Nora, yet his lack of trust in himself because of his past makes this story much more compelling.
I wish however, that Nora's exploration of the BDSM lifestyle would have happened only with Sylvester instead of with multiple partners, I would have liked to see him struggle with his self imposed restrictions while tutoring and mentoring Nora in her discovery rather than avoiding

her and the temptations she presents to him.
And since trust is a such a large part of a D/s relationship I think it could have provided more of an opportunity to establish a stronger connection for just the two of them instead of him fostering her education to the additional partners that Nora had.
I also believe that this particular novella would have worked much better as a full length novel, There was so much potential here between Nora and Sylvester, with their personal demons, that I was disappointed and felt that their love story was short changed due to the length.


Like "Baring it All" I felt the story was much more a journey of self discovery and exploration into the BDSM world for the heroine, than a true romance.
I didn't feel that Nora and Sylvester had enough page time together to develop the relationship that was intended and the deeper love that was possible.


Despite these criticisms, overall I enjoyed both of these novellas and the authors writing style, I am sure readers who enjoy erotic romance with BDSM elements will also enjoy them, especially with some of the more unconventional practices at least for romance novels I've read described in "Forbidden Heat".
I just felt they were both more erotica exploring and discovering personal desires and limits verging on romance, rather than erotic romances resulting in what I like to have in a HEA for the hero and heroine in each story.

Both stories full of heat but ickfactor from the "enjoyment" of the forced aspects of sex which crossed the line for me.
This was a great book with two separate erotic romance stories, Michelle and Nora are both introduced to the world of BDSM and find themselves growing into stronger people,
Crooks writing keeps you reading and interested, and the characters were fun, Sweet and Dirty is a book comprised of the following two BDSM novellas,

Baring it All
The first story begins with a young, sexually curious dog trainer/breeder, Michelle/Lizbeth whose current job is at a dog boarding facility as she's run away from her home and fiancé in Alabama.
She's been sent to buy some humangrade leather collars at a Los Angeles sex shop, She inadvertently disrupts a paddling demonstration by a gorgeous Dom and when he confronts her she asks him for some lessons on how to be dominant.
She's been pushed around by her family and fiancé to be and is sick of it, Ro, the Dom, can tell immediately that she's submissive but tells her that before she can be a top she needs to learn how to be a bottom first.
And so the story unfolds, I enjoyed this story. There was a lot steam and growth packed into this novella,

Forbidden Heat
This story had some interesting moments, but ultimately it was very strange and this reader was pushed into some odd kink at a B amp B breakfast and bondage getaway for a couple that was pretty much doomed.
The odd kink was everything that didn't directly revolve around the heroine and her sexual experiences, Just so we're clear, I didn't mind reading about the Doms and their interactions with Nora, Those scenes with first Andre and then Mage were intense, but I didn't find them arousing in any way, And everything else left me cold except the scenes with Sylvester, Sylvester, huh Not a name that you'd be anxious to cry out upon climax, I'd be too tempted to say, I tot I saw a putty tat,

Recommend: Nah½ for two stories about self discovery and exploration into the BDSM world.


BARING IT ALL,

Bondage, pain and humiliation was the primary erotic focus, Emotional pull was lacking for me,

STORY BRIEF:
Michelle owned a successful dog breeding business, She handled the dogs with love, Her mother and sister were dominating personalities and bullied Michelle most of her life, They insisted that she be more dominant and controlling with her dogs which caused problems, Michelle left the business and moves to L, A. She meets Ro who owns an SampM club, She asks him to teach her to be a dominant personality, both sexually and in her regular life, He plans to teach her that she is really a submissive and that there are benefits to being that way, Other stories involve people trying to hurt Ros business, and Michelles former boyfriend Ted coming to town, wanting to take her back home.


REVIEWERS OPINION:
There is not enough emotional development for me, Its more about self discovery within the BDSM culture than romance, Its a setting for a submissive person being bound, whipped, humiliated, and having sex in front of others, Its ok for that, if thats what you want to read about, I prefer more relationship development and story with interesting characters, dialogue, etc,

STORY BRIEF:
Noras secret fantasy is to be chased, captured and raped, She tells this to her boyfriend Ryan, Hes not interested, but he comes up with a plan to cure her of this idea, He makes reservations for the two of them to stay four days at a B amp B in the mountains, She later discovers that this is a Bondage and Breakfast place, Ryan filled out a checklist in her name requesting the maximum amount of bondage, pain and humiliation, When she learns this, she is angry, Ryan then offers himself to suffer these tortures in hopes of obtaining her forgiveness, Nora is immediately drawn to the clubs owner Sylvester knowing he would be perfect to capture and rape her, But Sylvester refuses to participate in any activity due to a bad experience in the past, Since Nora cant have Sylvester, she lets a couple of others show her the experiences of bondage, whipping, and electrical torture, This includes rear door activity,

REVIEWERS OPINION:
This was interesting because it was weird, Ive never read about electrical torture this way, but I assume there is more out there, I cant recommend this for erotic romance, There wasnt any romance. Its more about self discovery and exploration within the BDSM world, I prefer more emotional development with some romance,
