the Dead Forest is an awesome adventure full of unforgettable characters and a plot worthy of the literary masterpieces of old.
The book follows the adventures of the Partners aka Carter and Kat who love to go exploring together.
They find a dead forest that they knew wasn't there a few days ago because they know the area around their town like the backs of their hands and go exploring in it.

This was a VERY fun read.
This book was not your usual fantasy, Steve Groll used it as a tool to share that good over evil will win every time, which I think is wonderful.
There are too many books out there that show that evil is fun and good, This was a GREAT book! The two main characters, Kat and Carter were very well developed, They find a forest that is not like any forest they had ever been in, They had tried taking pictures of it so they could show everyone, and the pictures didn't turn out.
They tried taking a parent into the forest, but couldn't find it, It seems like the forest was made just for them, When they go back to the forest they encounter a crazy man who pursues them throughout their journey.
They meet a guardian, who likes to be called, "Guard", Guard helps the children make choices throughout the story that help them escape places like the, People Rule Inn.

I loved reading this novel, I felt like I was in the adventure right along with Kat and Carter, questioning how I would react and what path I would choose as each situation presented itself.
While reading i often reflected back to my bible study days, and enjoyed recognizing the familiar tales in the situations Kat and Carter found themselves in.
Dead Forest is extremely well written, and I felt like the author was sitting in the room telling the stories to me.
I look forward to more tales from this author, whether we follow Kat and Carter once again, or another pair of lucky children on their way to discovery.
