is a book about all of the different things baby animals do in the snow, sit, sleep, jump etc, This is a very small and short book with photographs of real snow animals showing each in his activity i, e. polar bears sleeping, tiger
sitting, monkeys playing, penguins sliding, This book would be appropriate for preschool or kindergarten age children, I would use it to help the children learn basic words, Each brief sentence begins: “In the snow, a baby, . . ” and then identifies the baby tundra animals actions in the accompanying colorful photograph, The repetition will encourage prereaders, preschoolers, and early elementary students to chime in, and the variety of snow animals which include polar bears and penguins, as well as boars and tigers will surprise young listeners.
But despite an index of the verbs in the text, word list of three terms, and several suggested additional reading and website resources, this skimpy book offers little substance.
None of the animals are identified so adults are unable to answer the inevitable question: “What animal is that” The photographs are striking, but the gutters on the twopage layouts cut the pictures up awkwardly.
Enslow also offers this volume as a more affordable and costeffective paperbackat,. Brrr. Who lives in the snow Readers meet some cute baby snow animals in this fun and easytoread text, .
