Gather When Tim Came Back Imagined By Eileen Denny Alexander Expressed As Volume
you to the author and Goodreads for providing me a free copy of this book, I liked several things about this book, how realistic and well written it was, but also that it was not too long.
I personally get discouraged when a book is very thick as I have very few moments of freedom to read, so I enjoy how concise and entertaining it was.
Disclaimer: I won this book as part of the Goodreads firstread program,
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!
I think the premise for this book is very interesting and as someone who has lost hisyear old son, I can't imagine a greater joy than to wake up one day and find my son still alive or to have him come back from having died.
That being said I think there is a real disconnect in this book between how most people would react to this happening and how Ms.
Alexander's main character, Tess, reacts,
I recognize that Tess's relationship with her exhusband Tim was antagonistic at best right before he died but she seems more annoyed with Tim's reappearance than shocked that he came back.
I recognize that people go on with their lives but ger negitive reaction is not what I would expect.
And Tess did not come off very sympathetic in the way she dealt with Tim's slow death.
I just couldn't warm up to Tess in the book even though I felt that Tim was not a very likable character either.
Also, what did Homeland Security and/have to do with this, Tim couldn't be exposed to other people because Homeland Security might cause problems for Tess and Tim Quite a stretch.
I know things happen and Tim has missed a lot, being dead, but what was Tess going to do Lock in a closet for the rest of his life And other people would be too shocked if they found out he was alive.
Who cares!!!! At least she may be able to get him
out of her life and really move on.
I gave the bookbecause I do feel this is a good effort for a first novel, and it was well writen, but Ms.
Alexander needs to think through her premise more clearly when she writes her next book, Which I encourage her to do, I think her idea for the novel was a good one but she could have done so much more with it.
