is such a sweet, endearing story, but it has a lot to say about forgiveness, enduring love, and what is truly important in life and relationships.
It did have some phrases that were repeated a little too often, but the characters were people I wanted to know better, When nurse, Eloise LeBlanc, started caring for her terminally
ill patient and learned he had an estranged son, she risked her job by contacting the son to tell him about his father.
But what she didn't know is that Cory Stone didn't know the man existed, What follows in the remainder of the book is a very intense situation as Cory and his father try to get to know each other before he dies.
I liked Cory and Eloise and respected their tense situations, I was a joy watching them getting to know each other, Robert, however, is a different story, I did not like the man, but then I don't think we were really expected to, The last couple of chapters held some pretty tense scenes that will bring tears to any reader's eyes, The story is full of hope, Though the ending was a bit fairytalish and I wonder if it would work in real life, it was still a sweet ending.
. . "The pace is consistent and there is solid character development, particularly with Corys father, The characters remind us that God can heal the broken" RT Book s,stars,
THE RANCHER'S CITY GIRL
This book is difficult to rate,
Part of the story strains suspension of disbelief: a terminal patient volunteers to go to a practicalstranger's ranch However, as the move occurs early in the story, the disbelief is easy to get over or at least was for me.
Yet, there are some things that are not easy to get over:
, Repeated Words and Phrases
The protagonist's curls are mentioned THIRTYTHREE TIMES! Yeesh, Note: My count may be off slightly,
"Paddock" is mentioned six times,
"Copse" appears five times,
"And": I don't have a count on this, but the word "and" appears far more in this story than in the previous two I read.
There are "pockets" of "and"constructionsareas of the book where there is description, and there is more description, and someone does something, and there is more description, and.
. .
. Adverbs, Metaphors, and Similes
Phrases that carry a heavy cognitive burden make reading difficult, Some examples from the story are fine, even poetic, but others are simply strange or odd, For example, "The scent of grass swam along the breeze, . . " Chapt Why is scent being personified I could dig for other examples but moving along,
However, there are positives, The characters' backgrounds keep the story interesting and give them some depth, The story manages to avoid being too trite, The slight mystery surrounding the male protagonist's father pushes the plot forward, at least a bit,
Overall, I neither liked nor hated the book, so twostars, for "it was okay, "
Healing the Cowboy's Heart
When Cory Stone discovers the father he never met is gravely ill, he brings the ornery man to his Montana ranch, along with his roundtheclock nurse.
Once again Cory finds himself falling for the wrong womana city slicker, like the exfiancée who broke his heart, But in Eloise LeBlanc, Cory also finds a kindred spirit, The caring beauty knows firsthand about love and loss, Neither of them is looking for a new romance, and Cory certainly isn't searching for love, But can the independent city girl heal the heart of a broken cowboy An interesting love story, a sad story of a dying manthe two weaved together.
I found the old man's story disturbing, Of course liked the love story so that should explain my rating, I loved this The Ranchers City Girl's storyline, This The Ranchers City Girl's storyline was sad, I loved the Christian theme in this story, I loved Cory's character. My heart broke for Cory, I loved Eloise's character. I loved the message in this story, I loved the ending. Awesome job Ms. Johns. received RT Book s A country singer married a actress a few years ago and he said "she had me from hello" a line in one of her movies.
I have always loved that, and in this book it is said with so much meaning twice! It's a novel about a dying father getting to know the son he had with his mistress many years ago.
Eloise is the palliative care nurse for Robert, she contacts Cory to let him know about his father, It's a story not without turmoil about forgiveness and understanding, Letters are found, confrontations abound but it comes down to two men finding there way to getting to know each other before its too late.
You will have a love hate for Robert because he is so gruff and protects his wife even after she has passed, Cory and Eloise have to find there way with each other as well, can a city girl also be a country girl or will she also break his heart.
