کتاب خیلی خوب و آموزنده
این کتاب رو از یک دوست هدیه گرفتم و همون اول میخواستم بفرستمش بره کنج کتابخونه برای هزار سال آینده چون هیچ دل خوشی از این کتابای به حساب راه و رسم موفقیت ندارم. ولی بعد از خوندن چند صفحه ابتدایی به خودم اومدم و دیدم دیگه دست خودم نیست و این کتاب بود که من رو با خودش می برد. حالا جاش تو کتابخونه شده یه جای دم دست که هر وقت لازم شد یه مراجعه ای بهش بکنم و ترفندهاش رو به خودم یادآوری کنم

This is a very good extension of some of the ideas in sitelinkThinking, Fast and Slow, but with a twist.
The author is a solid researcher in network science, He tackles hard questions about how success is achieved, starting with how you would even measure it, His premise is that when performance quality cannot be objectively measured, the 'network' determines the value and thus the success of the performer, The writing is excellent and examples are wonderful, ranging from personal stories about how his kid was accepted into college to why Einstein was so famous,

This is the first book where I've seen the idea that performance is bounded: following something like a Gaussian distribution, combined with the idea that success follows a power law: like the distribution of wealth.
There is a limit to how fast a human can run or how good a wine can be so there is a reason why wine and music competitions are so flawed and why nothing succeeds like success.


I'll have to think about one of the author's assertions about our ability to turn an idea into a success, He says that it follows the equation:

Where R is the value of the idea there are good ideas and bad ones, and Q is your ability to 'execute'.
By itself, this seems reasonable, but the author claims Q doesn't change over a career, He admits that the paper was rejected at least once because of this claim, and if I had been a reviewer I would have rejected it on this basis too.
Maybe I am too influenced by Dweck sitelinkMindset: The New Psychology of Success, but I have a hard time believing any performance parameter is fixed and cannot be changed unless there is a physical limitation.
On the other hand, I agree with his suggestion that if your 'Q' value continues to feel too low for too long, perhaps you should change your direction, regardless of your passion for the subject.


One of the examples really made me smile, The author tells the story of John Fenn, who I met many times during my career as an analytical chemist, John was a great example of how you can have wild success at any age, Fenn invented one of the most important tools in analytical chemistry inat ageand was awarded the Nobel prize inat age,
اصلا اینکه من کتابی که قوانین موفقیت رو توضیح میده رو برای خوندن انتخاب کردم خودش جای سوال داره. همینطوریش کم اضطراب و احساس شکست میکنمحالا به کتاب هم بگیرم دستم که حول موضوع موفقیت باشه و هی نگرانی منو بیشتر کنه. همین کافی نیست برای نخوندن کتاب
بعد کتاب شروع میکنه چار پنج تا "قانون" برا موفقیت رو بگه. قانون که چه عرض کنم برای من بیشتر مثل این بود که یکی توضیح بده چرا موفق نیستم.

Viszont ezeket az evidenciákat tudományosan nagyon megtámogatottan jelenti ki, nem lenne fair emellett csak úgy elmenni a jegyzetek, források etc pdfben majdnem az egész könyv ötödét tették ki.
Meg a sztorikat izgi olvasni meg szórakoztató, de nekem ez ennyi volt csak, Amiért, megnézve azt a hát elég sok munkát, ami láthatólag mögötte volt, szerintem kár,

A Siker viszont egy végtelenül takaros kis kötet, iskolapéldája annak, hogyan kell ismeretterjesztő irodalmat felépíteni: legyenek benne nagyobb,oldalas olvasmányos blokkok, aminek gerincét izgalmas példák és a vizsgálati folyamat világos felvázolása alkotja, majd ezek torkolljanak egykét mondatos velős maximákba, amiket akár a bögrénkre is gravíroztathatunk.
Dinamikus főszöveg keményre hegyezett konklúziókkal, ennyi az egész, Néha volt olyan érzésem, hogy tömörebben is fogalmazhatna a szerző, de ahhoz képest, hogy az előző Barabásikönyvemben még húsz oldallal a vége előtt se tudtam eldönteni, akare közölni egyáltalán valamit, ez igazán incifinciségnek tekinthető.
Ráadásul mert van ráadásul is! olvasás közben volt pár ahaélményem is: olyan bevillanások, amelynek során ráismertem valamire korábbi észleléseim, tapasztalataim vagy olvasmányaim rejtőzködő motívumaiból ez pedig garancia arra, hogy az ember erős kötődést alakítson ki a szöveggel.
Azt nem tudhatom persze, vane valami gyakorlati haszna a sikeresség szempontjából, ha bebiflázzuk a kötet aranyköpéseit, de arra mindenképpen jó volt, hogy megértsem, Barabási miért is lett a hálózatkutatás tudományának fennen lobogó fáklyája.
