I have always loved shifter books, but this has a unique edge to it that I absolutely love, This was very wellwritten and had captivated me from front to back cover, But I thought that cliffhanger was quite predictable and very impulsive, However, I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves shifters and phenomenal writing! Nope, this was just bad,

Trigger warning: emotional abuse, verbal abuse. physical abuse. Child abuse. Holy wow what an amazing read

I first read a persons review on good reads about this book, How they said there review made me go wow I want to try this one out, Plus mind you this is my first time reading the author,
And it did not disappoint wow this book has so many twists and turns, drama and epic storyline, This book flew past all my wild expectations and only proves what a spectacular storyteller Everly is, Ive got to be honest its the best book Ive read in a bit and I couldnt be more happy to get the second book.

Truly do your self a favour and please get this you wont be disappointed, .
Whoa is me

Where are all these five star reviews coming from This story has holes, makes no sense and isn't consistent what so ever it also is all over the place with so much going on and/also who the heck we are supposed to be fighting who's the absolute real threat This book is dripping with nothing but mystery after mystery, but not one thing is explained it even answered in anyway.
Events, ppl, not a Damn thing, And don't get me started on w, e weirdromance we kinda have going on here, these characters have zero chemistry! the melded part What a load of crap, And the way tessa fights everything, but then out the blue just gives in all the sudden and even kisses this man and agrees to help him What is going on! This book is a hot mess of just random writing.
I'm am seriously struggling to even piece together all the events this book has together to get a clear picture, and let me tell you, I have a better chance looking into muddy water.
This story is like no other that Ive read, It has the same characters youve come to love in a good shifter story, With one little twist. Tessas wolf is like no others, She finds herself struggling between excepting her differences and fighting her fear of what she truly is, The story takes you through her journey of finding her place in society as a Shifter that everyone fears, Tristan although surly and angry is always by her side, She will soon discover the discord between the different clans of shifters involves way more than anyone couldve comprehended, This is the beginning of what Im hoping is going to be a ride like no other, Its exactly what weve come to expect from Everly Frost, Its time to test how far into the shadows I can go, She is my dark wolf now,

I loved this whole book to pieces,

Tessa, is a such a broken and badass herione, As the main protagonist, her motivations and choices always shows that shes one step ahead of her game, She lets no one tell her what to do, She thinks clearly and owns herself like a boss,

And I loved her for it,

The main story line was so hooking it kept me there all the way until the end, Tessa has a unusual power as a Wolf shifter and no one likes her for it, Her father gets killed and shes taken in by another alpha who wants her to fight his enemies for him,

She stays in a safe house for women where she meets two good friends, And another thing Can I just gush about the female support in here No one looks down on one another, They all have each others backs,

As Tessa falls for Tristan, the alpha who keeps her for his own purposes, she starts to learn about herself and explores her powers.
And the romance I was there for every minute and moment of it, Damn, was it full of steam and tension,

This book is every bit dark and edgy as it promises, I can try to explain how much I love this book, but we would be here for a long time,

I do know one thing, I need the next book, and after that the sequel, Now. EASILY the best shifter world building I've seen since Patricia Briggs and JC Daniels,

I love the concept of shifter dynamics but even with all the PNR out there, it's hard to find a book that delivers on this level.

I'm obsessed with Tessa, our heroine, The plot was very captivating, The romance is not my favorite type power couple but it was well done, It ends with a cliffhanger and I didn't even mind because I'm so excited to follow Tessa and her lovely friends throughout this series,.Very interesting concepts within the book, A new way of picturing the wolf shifters,

It was a good book even if it did take me a while to go through, My paperback might have also suffered a bit from coffee stains, . . Oh, well.

This was a very well written book! I could hardly put it down!! I cant wait to read the second book its in the mail! Top notch world build!
Excellent storyline!
Action packed!
Extraordinary FMC!
Dominate MC!

Frost killed it with this read! Tessa is a bad ass shifter That's right there is something epically special about Tessa that makes her stronger than she should be.
Something if the alphas find out about her they will kill her, She is a major threat, but why and what she is has been hidden from her, Naturally for her own good men eye roll

Tristin is the most ruthless alpha there is, When he catches Tessa's scent there is nothing that will stop him from taking her, However, not as a mate but as a pawn to defeat his enemies, He knows what she is, He knows if he controls her there is nothing that can stop him,

Now with any good love story the chemistry obviously begins to build between these characters and it is scorching hot! I swear I had to wipe a little droll off a couple times.
And with any good love story there has to be one other suitor determined to catch the

FMCs eye,

Filled with unexpected turns! Shocking realizations! And the ever popular cliff hanger that leaves the reader having a toddler type tantrum, LOL!

Read it peeps!

Happy reading,
DD I actually enjoyed this one and that was because the heroine was an alpha equal to the hero, I always love when that happens in a book.
The secondary characters were also interesting enough, As another reviewer said, the romance came from no where, Yea, her scent drove them crazy but it just seemed really rushed especially with that ending, I wanted more from that front before her reveal was sprung on us.

I find myself curious about the other inhabitants of the hidden house, I wonder what their stories are especially the lady in the dark.
Can't wait to read the next book, I ended the year with a bang but trust me when I say there were no fireworks, This Dark Wolf is yet another book that starts with promise only to slip halfway through into the land of inane drudgery, Before I dissect this, I want to give Frost some credit, The fight scenes are believable and well placed and the world has potential, but the characters, plot and romance fail to grab my attention,

I love shifters so check mark there, Even better that our main character is not the average shifter, Her wolf is mysterious, appearing a phantom cobalt blue at her side and shes shunned because of it, Living at the top of a mountain with her father, forced to hide who she truly is, its not original but This Dark Wolf has the potential to be a fun ride.
In steps her halfbrother and some out of town shifters to mess her up, and the entire opening dissolves into interpack feuding with far reaching consequences.
Its a good opening. Tessa is appropriately torn on how to react Tristian is a strong alpha coming to the rescue, and Cody introduces a potential wrench for the eventual love affair between Tessa and Tristian.

Sadly, once everything settles and Tristian drops Tessa at the local witchs domicile for lost and abused woman, the story starts to meander and never fully gets back on track.
Another prop Ill throw Frosts way is Helens house, which has a surprising amount of detail and design built into it, It along with the opening show real promise and then suddenly poof, its gone,

So where does it all go wrong Lets take Tessa, Her wolf is intriguing but aside form the initial presentation it, and she, just dont develop, We know three things. Her wolf is transparent and cant influence the mortal world, There appears to be a white wolf that also has similar powers that we meet once who only serves to add random mystery without influencing the primary plot.
And Tessas scent serves to drive men wild, The main issue is once Frost decides to expound on any of these facts, she doesnt have a clear direction where she wants them to develop and everything gets confused and remains illdefined.

Take for example Tessas scent, its not actually that Tessa has a scent, its her power that powerful shifters are able to identify unique characteristics of and thus either want to sleep with or kill her.
Tristian initially wants Tessa in order to use her scent against his enemies, Or at least thats what he tells her, But as Tessa trains to control her power, the less everyone can smell it, and the less it appears relevant to the plot, In fact, Tristian never attempts to use her scent over anyone, It becomes but one example of a lost plot device,

Frost is working with two main plot lines, This feud between Tristian and Codys packs, along with the threeheaded wolf chasing after Tristian, They dont need to be tightly interwoven, but they seem to have no bearing on each other whatsoever, Tristian wants to use Tessa against his enemies, but aside from bringing her along to a party to look sexy and distract Cody she has no purpose being there and Tristian never actually has her do anything.
He also mentions to Jace that he wants her to kill the threeheaded wolf for him, but when that actually comes to light worst reveal ever btw he cant bring himself to let her do that either and he never explains why.
He also never tells Tessa he wants her to kill the wolf, she hears it while spying, so it makes even less sense that he tells her cant let her do it, because in theory she never even knows shes supposed to.

If you cant see the problem, Ill elaborate, All Frost is giving us are random facts, Tiny plot pieces that pop up just as quickly as they become irrelevant, Nothing ever comes of them, The book ends on a double cliff hanger, We find out why the problem exists between the two packs and we find out who the three named wolf is, but nothing comes of either plot past the initial shocking reveal.
The reveal of the wolf has no impact on the feud, the feud doesnt resolve, and Tessas abilities are not used to influence the feud which leaves the entirely of the book pointless.

Ive tackled Tristan and Tessa separately but how about together Nope just as unbelievable, There are so many roadblocks in the way that they never get to have a relationship, First, he doesnt want her body, even though her scent compels him, he just wants her to destroy his enemies, Then its the dont mark me because my strange wolf cant mate with another which dont get me started on this seeing as she claims to know nothing about her wolf and what makes it different so how does she know it cant bond.
Followed by the dont get close to Tristian because hes not going to live much longer, defense, There are so many reasons why they cant get close to each other Id be hard pressed to find any relationship, let alone chemistry between the two.
Although physically they inhabit the same space and Tristian has a strange habit of running to the rescue once he senses shes in danger, they dont banter, they dont have any kind of conversation, and one instance of sex is not enough to convince me they are fated mates which FYI, are supposed to be rare, yet every relationship mentioned in the book is between fated mates.
Anytime a character needs to summarize their relationship with a person in the final pages of the books, explaining to the reader how she has come to realize her relationship with Tristian, it means it isnt well illustrated throughout the previouspages.

So, what are we left with A meandering mass of half developed thoughts interwoven with decent fight scenes, The good thing is the opening convinced me to stick around longer but by the end it felt like Frost was just throwing theories to the wind in hopes that one would stick.
I would be okay with a vague plot if the relationship had some heat, but truthfully, I was rooting for Cody by books end and hes a nonentity.
Im vaguely curious about the mysterious white wolf and I would love to see Tessa actually transform into her wolf instead of just releasing it but not enough to stick around.
stars.
