on His Little Cowgirl (The Cowboy Series #1)

One day Cody Jacobs shows up on her doorstep, the father of her daughter who he doesn't know exists, Working his way through the AAstep program, the pro bull rider has stopped by to apologize to Bailey for the way he treated her six years ago, and then head off to the next meet.
Then he sees little Meg, and suddenly he doesn't want to leave,

A story about love and redemption and forgiveness, The gossip and shame and guilt Bailey suffered as a young unmarried pregnant girl seemed a little quaint in this day and age, but then she does live in a small town.

I'll admit I teared up a time or to while reading this, I thought this book was a little 'deeper' than most 'Love Inspired' novels, It dealt with the concept of letting go, and also stepping up to your responsibilities, and reminded me that the way to do both properly is with God's help.

While I enjoyed themain characters, I also was really intrigued by a few of the secondary characters and hope that I'll get to see more of their stories further on in the series!
.

His little cowgirl

I really enjoyed this book, It held my attention throughout the entire story, I especially liked the relationship between Bailey and her father, I was a daddy's girl too, I read this the first time quite a few years ago before I began reviewing so I read it for the second time today,

In this story we have thirtyyear old bull rider, Cody, whose life is out of control, . . completely. He's an alcoholic to the point of risking his life and riding bulls while intoxicated and has hopped from woman to woman for many years,

Bailey is a twentyeight year old single mother who has fallen on hard times, Her and her daughter live with her father and he is dying of cancer, The medical expenses are outrageous and their farm is approaching foreclosure,

Bailey and Cody met each other six years ago at a job where they worked for the summer, They fell in love or so she thought and when the summer was over he walked out of her life and never looked back, He was twentyfive and she was twentytwo at the time, They had given into temptation that summer and as she tried to catch him before he left to tell him she was pregnant he just drove away without giving her a chance.
For six long months she left him messages begging him to call her back, that it was very important etc, Not once did he return her calls, So, she reluctantly gave up, her heart in tatters, shattered only in the way a man can hurt a woman, It was sad and heartbreaking what she went through while he was out on the town, life of the party, and a different woman on his arm every night.

Cody had almost lost his life while riding a bull in the rodeo while drunk and when he was in the hospital he knew he had to change.
When he got out he began attending AA meetings and had six months sobriety under his belt, He had also sought forgiveness from God and was leading a clean life, He was working the AA steps and was on step nine where you go confront the people you have hurt and done wrong and seek forgiveness, Bailey was at the top of his list and she was shocked to see him after all this time, But, when a little cowgirl walked out onto the porch in her pink cowgirl boots and eyes so like his own, . . he knew what he had missed,

What was troubling for me was he knew she had called him for six months and had tried to stop him at the end of that summer.
She needed to tell him something and he refused to stop and never returned her urgent messages, He had the audacity to place the blame on her for not knowing he had a daughter, 'You could have found me if you really wanted to' he said, What Is none of the responsibility his If he would have called her back he would have known immediately, He wouldn't have missed the first five years of her life,

Their road would not be smooth and there are issues that went unaddressed for me, Cody needed to grovel big groveling for not stopping to listen to Bailey and for ignoring all of the urgent messages, let alone the revolving door of women, To be honest this book left me feeling very sad, to come This was an enjoyable read with very real characters what a fabulous story! The characters were so real and it was easy to connect with them, Made me Cry A lot! Sometimes it takes experience and a few years to grow up, . . that's what it took for Cody to finally see how having roots and a stable life was what he really wanted, He knew he wanted to make amends to his old girlfriend, but this bull rider never expected the ride he now had before him when he stopped by her father's ranch.
He meets a little cowgirl that helps him think through decisions ahead, With a mixture of sadness and happiness as in real life, this competitive rider looks to Christ for the remaining answers to his newest problems, God throws in the "true love" at the right time to complete the story, .
