was a Good Reads " First Reads " Win for me, . I was kind of going into it not knowing what the out come would be it got mixed reviews by the readers.
. Also about some of the miscorrections there was in the book, . I however LOVED it. . I laughed and I thought about the book when I was not able to be reading it, . I enjoyed it alot and the drama and situations that was brought into it, . I am looking forward to reading more by this author, rather than Great story for MG/YA readers who love fae and fantasy! The plot was fun and lively, with wonderful descriptions.
At times it felt just a tiny bit rushed, and there were a few editing "oopses", but other than that, the story of Callie Rose was quite enjoyable, and I recommend it for those looking for an entertaining and romantic fantasy.
I look forward to the further adventures author C, C. Jackson has in store for her characters in this series! Callie's life is about to to be flipped upside down.
She wakes up with a stranger in her room thinking it was her imagination until she's ripped from her bed and drug through the swamp and woods then underground tunnels.
She discovers her capture's name is Brokk and amazingly enough he's her betrothed, He misguidedly and shall I say unceremoniously dumps her at the steps of the palace for her to be sequestered by the reigning queen Lilith.
. .
She manages and escape and then is taken in by the exiled and falls for Kalien who is hiding a lot of who he is himself only allowing her to be aware of certain parts of her history he finds a place for her to live people for her live with then leaves her bereft and hurt by yet another guy she thought cared.
She makes some wonderful friends Tuck and Jenna and there is a mystery about Jenna even she doesn't know yet so I'm sure there is more to this story than this quick and delightful read.
Callie finally takes her rightful place even if she didn't know it was hers to begin with, She finds courage and strength through all she experiences and most importantly understands she must put her people first to overcome the scars left by Lilith and be sure we haven't seen the last of Lilith.
Callie is shocked when she is ripped from her home in the middle of the night, She is taken to a city that she never knew existed only to find that she has a strange connection to her sexy captor.
To top it all off, he tries to convince her that she is not even human, She learns that she is actually a fairy, Not just any fairy, but a fairy who has been destined to become queen of the fairies, The only problem is that the current queen is a cruel tyrant and Callie will have to fight for the title that she was meant for.
She is not completely convinced that this is a life that she wants to live, She would love nothing more than to go back to being the normal human girl that she always thought that she was.
When tragedy strikes, Callie finds that she no longer knows who she can trust, She must learn to survive on her own in a harsh underground world, She finds herself dealing with the struggles of life and love for the first time, Two gorgeous guys, a bunch of new friends, and a whole new world, Will it be more than she can bear This book was a great short read, I picked it up and finished it within a few hours, It flows really well and keeps you turning the page for more, because you just have to know what is going to happen to Callie next.
My only problem with this book was how easily it all did flow, Sure, you had your fair share of battles or problems to face, but they all got resolved quite quickly, I would have loved to seen the big battle at the end, be a little more, well, big, But, it does leave you wondering if there will be a second book to this one, since everything happened so fast.
I did love the relationships going on in this book though, And the mysteries that she leaves you with also left me hopeful for a second book to come into my hands soon.
I just had so many questions about why these men are so darn stupid! But then again, men do not open up and tell us what needs to be told, they keep it to themsevles and then everything always seems to take a turn for the worse.
. . men pfft.
Pick up this book, you will be hooked to it in no time and before you know it, you will have hit the last page.
C. C. Jackson has some serious potential and I can not wait to see what the future brings for her and her books.
Happy Reading All,
: In a word, I would describe Stay as cute, How do I feel about it overall Ambivalent, I finished this book about a month ago and it has taken me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to say, because I kept changing my mind.
Lets start with The Love Interest, When reading a book there is a tipping point from when you are sitting on a fence, considering backing a love interest, to when youve fallen flat on your face.
Hard. I backed Team Brokk from the beginning, because of the way he treated Callie in the caves, But then I was made to feel guilty for doing so because Kailen seemed like an angel after Brokk started to act like a jackass.
Arrogance was not in Brokks described characteristics therefore his mean behaviour was jackassism rather than his normal arrogance, So I adjusted and backed team Kailen only for it to flip again and for Kailen to be the bad guy and for Brokk to be the one who we should really like.
I did not like the bounce of this emotional yoyo, There is a difference between making a lead characters intentions mysterious and making them bipolar, There were no clues to me to warn me not to get a vested interest in Kailen,
Callie is undecided, about her place in society until things go wrong for her, Which I didnt like. I actually empathise a lot with the selfish heroine because I feel its real and honest, but Callie just didnt seem to care at all until her apple cart was upset by everything.
There was not one person she seemed to care for more than herself, There is selfish then there is egotistical, and Callie crossed over to the latter too often for my personal liking.
There was no acknowledgment from her of her families involvement in hardships of the fairy people until the end, when her life was on the line.
It was kind of like, “Im going to die unless I sort this out, Better sort it out then, ”
At one point Callie flips out and beats the tar out of Brokk, . . fine but it was completely out of line with her character, I was brought to accept Callie was docile, strong willed but gentle in her delivery of this will, Then all of a sudden shes throwing punches and witty quips like shes Ali, Throughout the book
there is a very adult tone to her actions, but delivered through in my opinion a childs eyes and with a childs intentions.
When Callies parents die a King and Queen, they get taken out so easily, Its not explained why they supported the usurper Queen by leaving the kingdom, especially when its made clear they had loyal supporters.
Also, the reason why Callie was worth abandoning a whole city of people for was not impressed upon me, Royalty are supposed to put the people first, but they simply tottered off with their superspecialpowerfulbabyCallie into a new life and dont look back.
To me, that does not seem like a worthy royal bloodline to make a fuss over, better off without you quite frankly.
All descriptions of the fairy wings were beautiful, and the concept of living in underground caves was a nice touch, but.
. . the fairies fly. These are not small beings either, but full grown people who are connected to the elements, Why would they go underground Why not up, into the sky Again, this point was raised briefly, but not impressed on me, nor did it make sense enough for me to make my own conclusions.
I loved the physical manifestations of the elements, Those were superbly done, and I felt they had such character for such small parts,
Its always difficult to give a negative opinion on a book story line, because things are read and interpreted differently by everybody, but for me, Stay had too many aspects that didnt gel well enough.
No doubt readers with a more customary view on fairies will enjoy it much more, and I would encourage you to try it.
Wait, wait wait, before I wrap up I need to address the crying, I have a hard time reading about boys or men who cry, There needs to be a damn good reason, like, . . the love of his life was tortured and murdered before his eyes even begin to get wet, It seemed like guys in this book needed to toughen up,
Its a god book, possibly Childrens rather than Young Adult, but my view on that readership may be skewed by my own preferences.
I will buy and read the sequel, because Im curious as to where this will lead, and I really did love the elementals.
I would've given this a,if I could. It was enjoyable but not remarkable, The story line is incredible, But this book needs an edito, Bad. The tense was all over the place, and distracting, I'd give it a second try after a thorough edit, Stay was an ok book, I think that the author just breezed over a lot of things that would make the book better, It just seemed like it hit the three or four main things in the book and then the end, I don't know if I will read the next book in the series when it comes out, Faeries! I agreed to read and review this book because I love faeries! Stay is about a "human girl" who was taken from her home in the middle of the night by Brokk, a very attractive fae guard of the tyrant queen fae.
Callie, the main character learns that she's actually a princess in the fae world, According to Brokk, she is summoned by the queen fae to formally introduce her to her people, It was too late when they realize that the queen wanted to kill her and her parents because of the prophecy, that Callie will become a great ruler someday and that she will free the faeries from the tyrant queen.
I liked the story. It was a very fast read, I enjoyed it especially the twist in the story,
The only thing I didn't like was the ending of this book, This is a series and I wished the author wrote a different ending of the book,
If you are so into fae world, get a copy of this book!
This was a firstreads giveaway.
It didn't impact my review in any way, although it did stretch me into a genre I hadn't read before.
If you like books about fairies, this would probably be an enjoyable read, I was hoping I would get past the wings to enjoy the story, but it wasn't like Harry Potter or Twilight where the story is more than the elements.
Callie tended to solve her boy problems by punching them out, and I didn't think that was a healthy approach.
Other than the femaleonmale violence and mild swearing, the story was interesting, The characters just didn't appeal to me, Since this is a YA book and was clearly aimed at a younger audience, a younger reviewer might give it a better rating.
I was honestly a bit disappointed in this one, The characters were underdeveloped and the story and actions happened and then moved on to quickly for you to wonder about.
A lot of it consisted of the author just stating what happened and not so much of a play by play of conversation.
It was a cute read and I liked many parts, but it was not very well written and worth only the.
cents I spent on it, This is a short and fast paced book, The main character annoyed me Kinda like Buffy out of the TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer but I still really enjoyed it.
If you are kinda hanging around and want a light fantasy read, this is a good one to pick up.
Mind you, the eBook I had was littered with typo's, . . and lord knows if 'I' see them, there must have been some pretty bad ones, You've been warned grammar natzis!! Stay by C, C. Jackson follows a girl, Callie Rose, ripped from her home in the middle of the night and forced into the world of the faea world she once belonged to, but has long since forgotten.
I bought this book because it was onlycents and came highly recommended by a couple friends, While the dialogue came off as a little too formal in my opinion after all, this is a young adult book, Stay was fastpaced and a truly quick readI finished it in two hours.
I absolutely cannot stand weak heroines who rely on others to guide them through their life journey, Callie was definitely not one of those people, While she came off as a little whiny sometimes, she certainly stepped up her game by the end of the book and took charge of the situation.
She initially tried to avoid her responsibilities but, eventually, Callie came to realize the necessity of her actions and she literally fought for what she wanted and so what she thought was right.
The romance, or rather, the love triangle, was also a little rushed and both of the "potential guys" seemed bipolar and weird.
But in the end, I approved of Callie's decision with regards to who she should be with,
Overall, I recommend this book to anyone with a love of faeries and who are just in need of a quick, and relatively good, read.
.Overall:/It was okay

This book had a good story idea was pretty interesting, but there were many flaws that prevented me from truly liking this book.
First, Callie's actions don't seem very realistic, When she is kidnapped and the guy finally sets her down, she doesn't even try to run away, She just follows him into a dark cave, Also, she falls in love way too fast, And Callie is somehow able to learn to fight really well in a day, then master her powers in another day, and practically master flying in a couple of days.
She tries and then Woo! she can do it perfectly!
The characters also seem a bit flat, As hard as I tried, I couldn't like or connect to Callie, Brokk, or any of the other characters, There is an attempt at a love triangle between Callie, Brokk and Kailen, but it was unsuccessful because Callie's emotions towards the two didn't seem very deep or real.
Lastly, I noticed several grammatical errors which were kind of annoying, but didn't prevent me from understanding what the author was trying to say.
